First Reimagined Room!
Hugo and Ymuy have made our first reimagined room! Essentially, we adapted a pre-existing room in Club Penguin into the PSA format. This was our first attempt, so some aspects may be adjusted; however, it currently looks really cool.

Art style Poll! Very Important, please vote!
Basically, this poll will determine the art style for our game moving forward! Will it be fully modern or a 2005 re-rendering with modern techniques?

1st Finished Room Art!
Hey guys, we're excited to announce that our room artist, Hugo, has completed a room! Ymuy helped by shading the room (This was to compile a video tutorial for Hugo in hopes that he can replicate it in later rooms). So, congratulate them on the amazing room art! Currently, Hugo is working on a unique and slightly secret room while Ymuy creates a cover piece for the dock. There have been some issues, and we will be making a poll on Discord in the coming week (If we don't get busy), which should hopefully resolve them.

Hey guys! We mentioned in the video update that we had an NPC form to release. This is that form! So, if you wish to customise an NPC for our game, please fill out the customizer above! Not all penguins may get selected, and due to limited item pools, some of you may choose the same combo. However, ignoring style bias, there are 7,200 combinations, so don't worry.

why’d you make Herbert hotter
... ... Look okay... when we conceived his new design 4 years ago, we were just thinking "Herbert is more successful now and nothing is stopping him. He probably has the island make him clothes now that he is fine living there. So let's put him in a snazzy suit and make his personality a little more snobby". We didn't intend for him to become an "icon" in the community or a "Tumblr S man..." You know the type of Tumblr character I'm talking about. This year, we have been heavily informed about those characters and how we accidentally fulfilled the criteria with EBF Herbert's design. TLDR: No, we did not make Herbert hotter... beauty is in the eye of the beholder... and some of you are freaks /j

What’s been your favorite part of making Operation: Back In Time so far?
Cecelium (Me) (Co-creator): It's hard to pick just one, so here are my top three (in no order): Creating and figuring out all the time travel shenanigans and consequences (TLDR: It's scientifically impossible; one sneeze = you die). Second is blueprinting the code, it's been really fun creating games again after a long time of being unable to, and I'm in the stage of knowing enough that the coding isn't painful... just yet. Finally, being able to revisit and expand upon the PSA Missions, I loved those missions when I was younger, and always wanted more. Now that we have the capability (although we aren't the OG creators, I hope we achieve a similar experience). Originally, this project was imagined as a mini game within Club Penguin, so we did concept rewards and stamps, which gave me that feeling the most. (Sadly, the stamps are the only extra content that transferred over from 4 years ago.) Ymuy (Creator): Designing and reinventing the characters and world of the EBF future. Focusing on how Herbert deviated from the timeline and what things stayed the same due to his influence Lox (Assistant Coder): Creating the Scuffed WIP UI and actually working on a game for once, finally having a reason not to give up. Creating the player movement feature was also fun, and I learnt a lot about Unreal Engine. And being called a furry for loving Herbert <3. Wake & Jake (Assistant): Interacting with the community and the diverse personalities I have had the opportunity to encounter. And getting insight into the dev process and behind-the-scenes access. Hugo (Room Artist): I love Herbert and I love drawing and I love BIT and I love Herbert and Club Penguin too, I guess Kuro (Musician): Honestly? Learning about Club Penguin's lore. I had no idea a silly lil penguin game had lore that basically competes with fnaf lmao.

Also while I'm at it, I love the attention to the detail in this! Especially mentioning The Daily Penguin instead of The Penguin Times/Club Penguin Times since it only appeared in the Beta
Yes, thank you very much! We originally had no major plans for this story (4 years ago), and because it is set in a very awkward period of Club Penguin's history, it was hard to understand what was and wasn't within Club Penguin, so... we winged it XD. Early this year, a certain person who wishes to be anonymous arrived in our server and showed us how different the canonical (or nearest canonical) history was compared to what we had. With their help, igniting our passion and the additional areas and sources they revealed, we started re-envisioning the story to become more accurate. This caused issues, and I was initially against the change (as it was and still is a huge undertaking, as we still haven't rewritten the full script). But after months of planning out which dates would best suit with what we already had, we finally concluded on August 2005. Continuity is a major part of our story, as it is a time-travel story. So there are other hidden easter eggs from existing Club Penguin lore that have already been released; one of my favourites being in "The Big Dreamer, Herbert" Character Card (but I won't reveal what it is >=3).

Would it be cool if I made a Let's Play/Playthrough of this when it comes out?
Of course! We want people to experience and share the story! We also hope that people pick up O:BiT to speedrun, as it will help it's longevity while showing us how broken it could be XD. Sadly, there is no plan on releasing soon. It will be impressive if the demo can come out this year, but thats highly unlikely. But no matter how long it will take, Me and Ymuy are both passionate and dedicated about this project, so it will get completed... eventually.

Art Showcase and Update Soon!
Hello! We were hoping to release the next update today, however we wanted to bundled an art showcase within it (Plus it took longer than we thought…) For the art showcase we will be pulling and crediting any art posted on our socials that relate to O:BiT or the community character card we released. We also requested that if you have posted any art that may be inaccessible to us, that you post it in the discord channel Operation: Back In Time Art Showcase, as that will garuntee your ast being displayed.
To make up for the delay Ymuy graciously sketched up this art, which will server as an update image banner going forward! Please don't forget to fill out the survey we posted last week, and our asks on are always open! Thank you for reading see you next week!

Hey guys! Now that the character cards have all been released, we're curious about your thoughts on them. We want to see who is the Queen or King Character Card! Or what aspects you all enjoyed! Above is the forum where you can vote. There are also additional goofy questions for the hardcore fans in the community but these are optional.

How did the other mascot characters react to the EBF taking over?
Without going into spoilers. Herbert established the EBF as a "governmental body" that was to "support and improve the island with science and discovery". So initially people saw it as a good thing some even joined up, like Rory. But as time progressed and the EBF started making some strange demands to "better the island" this didn't sit right with most mascot. Mascots that were already established like Sensei and Rockhopper stayed true to thier character, as such they are on the opposition of the EBF. While other characters like Cadence and Puffle Handler no longer have the status of being mascot but still have unique stories based on the events that happen. I know this answer might not be what you're hoping for. Ymuy is currently writing stories for the background characters of the EBF universe. But with the rest of the teams focus on the game, we arn't ready to approve these stories as fully cannon to our universe. (Plus they all include massive spoilers we want you to discover in the game XD)

How did you guys come up with the idea for the story? Was there anything in particular that inspired it?
Well the original idea was sparked from a community member in a cpps discord 4 years ago. While in a discussion with Ymuy, they talked about what if Herbert went into the past to change things and then this later turned into what would happen if the mascots from the two timelines met. From that Ymuy came to me and asked if I wanted to help her make this story. I agreed.
We started coming up with why Herbert would go to the past and what could come of it. Ymuy wanted there to be an evil orginisation called the EBF, like what if herbert took over some how. And thats where the story started. From there I let ymuy generate the main story beats as at first I saw this as her story. I would then challenge her story beats with practicality/character intention/common sense to make the story flow better and not feel chaotic. We made revisions and "finished it" but had to drop the project as we had a falling out with the first programmer. 4 years later it has been rewritten multiple times with more logic and canon aspects. Additional inspirations while writing/adapting the script were: - The PSA of course - The Stanley Parable - Back to the Future - Doctor Who (Specifically episode "Blink") - Terminator - Grim fandango - Operation Blackout - Danganrompa/Doki Doki Literature Club - Arcade Games We may be missing some but these were the ones we can pull from the top of our head [Canon changes came after these inspirations]

Last Character Card + Mini Update
With EBF Guy posted, we have officially finished the character cards! There could be a bonus Rory one later down the line, but he was not considered when making the original ones. We have been meaning to do an update, but our schedules have been quite busy. TLDR: I have been coding the game with the assistance of a new coder we acquired. Ymuy has been creating Visual Novel Sprites. And previous hurdles have been overcome, but now we face new ones. So expect an in-depth update soon with hopefully a more engaging format. Also, send in your questions! We haven't gotten any in a while. We can't reveal much about the main story, but we can give you some background context. Or send in your suggestions: What could we do better? What could we add?

The Forever Loyal, Jet Pack Guy - Brought in by false hopes and promises, one of the most loyal, dependable, and courageous penguins on the island, was ironically twisted into a brutal and heartless machine. Known now as "The Weapon of the Elite Bear Force", Jet Pack Guy eliminates any opposition by any means necessary. With a 98% success rate, it's no wonder that the island now lives in constant fear. After all, the faintest of whispers could be overheard by his sonar hearing, the slightest of violations caught by his telescopic heat vision, and the swiftest of ninjas can be apprehended by his enhanced reflexes. Truly, there is no escape. It is only a matter of who would be next, and whoever it is should hope they can outrun his unending pursuit.
How did Jet Pack Guy become this? What changed inside him? What did the EBF do?

The Troubled Tinkerer, Gary - Gary wasn't always the great inventor we all know today. It was only recently that the island started appreciating what gadgets and science could do. With Gary's latest inventions, the Jackhammer 3000 and the Ski Lift 3000, the island started developing at a rapid pace. New construction plans were already underway, and everyone is excited about what the future holds. Gary knew that this new buzz was a great opportunity to show that his creations can be more than useful. They could be fun and beneficial in all areas, even food. But how could he tell the island? His Pizzatron idea was nowhere near completion. Maybe, if he can reveal his plans with another invention, that could be his ticket into full production! Well, that was Gary's hopes until things started going wrong around the island and no-one knows why…
