I really like this russian edition of classic books. Letting famous artists do the covers in YA style was such a simple but clever decision. According to the recent study the number of teenage readers increased, possibly thanks to these covers. I own traditional classics with blank covers but if I ever see one of these in the wild, it’ll probably make me go feral.

Max Frei appreciation post

Things I like about Max Frei and their books: - the story starts as a freaking fanfiction, I mean, the main character travels to a different magical world where everyone loves him, but they really pull it off extremely well; - the main character being in a state of constant “wait what” and not noticing elementary things - because relatable; - magical system is so very well developed and explained; - the whole world is so very well developed and explained; - talking animals exist; - talking birds exist; - talking stones exist; - a literal semisentient castle is built from talking stones and it decides for itself what exact magical features to show at a certain time; - people making that castle a prison because it’s easier than dealing with a hugeass building made of very offended grumbly stones; - talking birds are somewhat a higher race to humans and they tolerate people only because people are funny; - talking birds literally doing magical eugenics to a certain race in order to make them more “likeable”; - talking animals are cool as fuck; - a girl in the main cast is consistently depicted as petite, elegant and fragile, and yet she is definitely terrifying. Her name is Melamori and she can kill you by walking on your footsteps. she is a freaking tiny grim reaper; - Melamori having none of this patriarchial shit. What do you mean good girls don’t travel to a barbarian continent to live with some talking birds? you know what? nope. nu-huh. sorry but won’t do - also Melamori still dressing beautifully, liking girly things and acting very feminine; - the main character has a job suited SPECIFICALLY for his nightowl lifestyle; - also those books are EXTREMELLY progressive for Russia; - I mean, there are different races like elves or shapeshifters, and all the elves in that world fall for everyone without any gender distinctions. there is a whole pansexual race I trick you not; - the descendants of the elves also have bisexual tendencies; - also the King of the country is canonicaly bi and dates a man and a women at the same time and everyone is happy with that; - plump and fat ladies are considered beautiful and appreciated; - people of other races and their cultures are respected; - women with a magical gift in this world are just so freaking terrifying. They are the real shadow rulers of the magical orders, and men are often only their ignorant puppets; - also the only reason women don’t become real rulers is because they feel like that position envolves too much visibility and too little real power; - also the nicest character is Lady Sotofa who is just. so very awesome; - a wizard from the main cast used to be in love with her hundreds of years ago but then she was, like, “sorry babe, but I feel like my life is bigger than that” and she moves to the big city and she literally becomes a fucking shadow ruler of the most powerful magical order, and the wizard is truly happy for her and they remain good friends for a lifetime; - also Lady Sotofa is really beautiful, breathtakingly beautiful, and still she chooses to look like a little nice old lady because she enjoys deceiving others subtly - and also the silly boys don’t drool over her that much this way; - okay she really is AWESOME; - all the main characters have their own backstories which are detailed and investigated; - also you know those fanfics where the main character is dumped into Sudden Drama? I tell you Max Frei wrote such a thing. They wrote it by themselves really; - the thing is called The Book of Fiery Pages and it is really dark and also somehow prophetic in regards to the later story? - also stop breaking the forth wall, Sir Max. Literally. Stop. Let it stand - ok the truly best thing is that the main character owns a pair of labrador-sized cats and one hyppo-sized excitable puppy who’s name is Droopy because the main character is a detective and Droopy is a detective dog and that is really everything you need to love Max Frei to pieces

Moved from 80-84hours/week in average, as "working every fucking night or day available and making probably around 26-28 shifts in a month" to stable 86-90hours. It is absolutely sucking ass, I am on a verge of crying, no jokes. Made today to 186.5 hours in 15 days.

I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

Okay, I... Reposted a piece poetry not so long ago, and, well, now it definitely comes in handy. "I'm made to remember you longer, than I knew you". It is a season of winter, and when it is His Birthday - I just cry, but when it is His day of death or burial, or a day before visitation... Shit, I crack every single time.

I knew Him since birth. He was the person, who was there for me, when I was paralysed and in a wheelchair as infant, toddler and a kid. He was there for me, when my legs were opened and broken for treatment. He made me a custom stroller 'till I could walk by myself. He was there, when I was scared as little bitch I am from a mere thought about society and school. He was there when I got my first vaccine because I was scared and cried so hard I vomited, and He made me a castle from wood planks, so I wouldn't be sad anymore. He was an alcoholic, because He couldn't fly anymore as pilot and was on a leave. He saved me countless times from His hysterical wife who tried to kill me unironically. He loved me and my mother so dearly, that He started being aggressive and angry at us only when His illness started taking Him away completely. His lungs were full of liquid, He had four full heart attacks, He couldn't walk and barely recognised me at my teens, but He lived full three years more just to adore my little sister as He adored me in His moments of light. I even think that if it was not the end, He would accept me and be on MY side when I came out.

He died on a night when I took my girlfriend on a sleepover to my house first time. He was buried at New Year. That night His wife tried to off herself and I was the one who called services. My little sister do not even remember His name and calls Him by random names. My little cousin never even met Him. I still have His pilot card, His uniform His wife thrown away, books that He wrote with His friends, still with handwriting. And every goddamn year I am screaming my own lungs full of dirty nasty water out, when I want to off myself, that I want to go hug Him. Can't speak about Him, can't laugh about Him. Only scream and cry.

We lost my grandfather only seven years ago, but it feels like eternal hell. I just want to feel okay, but it never ends. Pain never ends.

I am sure, you know, that a lot of countries made/make/are in a process of making LGBTQ+ people illegal. It is illegal in my country too, I am open and met a light reaction, but only because I am not looking as a person who should be taken seriously. I still got denied jobs, I was fired sometimes, and even stalked. Can you imagine, what horrors and shortages are enduring people of countries, that are more radical in this aspect?
