hi there! idk if you do these kinds of ask but i thought i’d give it a try out of desperation! (If u don’t answer i completely understand!)

I’m looking for a ZhongChi fanfic from ao3 (it’s rather explicit) and i’ve forgotten the title but the setting is in the Golden House where the supposed “betrayal” happened.

If i recall correctly, Zhongli’s rlly possessive & have put a geo mark on childe & steals Childe away from the scene with his shield over the two of them, leaving Signora a bit panicked. They do the deed while talking things through & right after they calm down, they find out that the adepti & Fatui are fighting outside Zhongli’s chamber.

Then Signora says something like “If you two just wanted to that u should’ve told me instead of trying to cause war via kidnapping a Harbinger.”

unfortunately it's been a hot minute since I've read any zhongchi fics, and of the ones I did read I don't recall any of those details

however if you use ao3's search function you might be able to narrow it down if you remember any specific tags/words in its summary. I've hunted down old fics using that method before, but it's pretty tedious. especially if all you remember are tags that are used on every other fic of the same pairing, but if the work is still on the site you have a good chance of finding it (or just find new works to read lol)

Guys, if you read on AO3 please try to create an account. So many of us writers are going to be forced to lock down our fics to registered users out of necessity to help keep AI away, and it kills us because we don’t want to stop any of you from reading.

AO3 is invite only. So if you know an AO3 user, ask if they have an invitation to give you (we’re given invite codes to share with others who want to join) because that’s an easy way to get in. If you don’t know someone you can ask, this is AO3’s instructions for requesting one from them…

Fanfiction Authors: HEADS UP

(Non-authors, please RB to signal boost to your author friends!)

An astute reader informed me this morning that one of my fics (Children of the Future Age) had been pirated and was being sold as a novel on Amazon:

(And they weren't even creative with their cover design. If you're going to pirate something that I spent a full year of my life writing, at least give me a pretty screenshot to brag about later. Seriously.)

I promptly filed a DMCA complaint to have it removed, but I checked out the company that put it up -- Plush Books -- and it looks like A LOT of their books are pirated fic. They are by no means the only ones doing this, either -- the fact that """publishers""" can download stories from AO3 in ebook format and then reupload them to Amazon in just a few clicks makes fic piracy a common problem. There are a whole host of reasons why letting this continue is bad -- including actual legal risk to fanfiction archives -- but basically:

IF YOU ARE A FANFIC AUTHOR WITH LONG AND/OR POPULAR WORKS, PLEASE CHECK AMAZON TO SEE IF YOUR STORIES HAVE BEEN PIRATED.

You can search for your fics by title, or by text from the description (which is often just copied wholesale from AO3 as well). If you find that someone has stolen your work and is selling it as their own, you can lodge a DMCA complaint (Amazon.com/USA site; other countries have different systems). If you haven't done this before, it's easy! Here's a tutorial:

HOW TO FILE A COPYRIGHT COMPLAINT FOR STOLEN WORK ON AMAZON.COM:

First, go to this form. You'll need to be signed into your Amazon account.

Select the radio buttons/dropdown options (shown below) to indicate that you are the legal Rights Owner, you have a copyright concern, and it is about a pirated product.

Enter the name of your story in the Name of Brand field.

In the Link to the Copyrighted Work box, enter a link to the story on AO3 or whatever site your work is posted on.

In the Additional Information box, explain that you are the author of the work and it is being sold without your permission. That's all you really need. If you want, you can include additional information that might be helpful in establishing the validity of your claim, but you don't have to go into great detail. You can simply write something like this:

I am the author of this work, which is being sold by [publisher] without my permission. columbina was fun bc of making up whatever characterization I wanted. granted I was doing that with pretty much all the harbingers except tartaglia and a little bit of dottore, but she has the unique situation of... I don't think she actually has a voice line in the trailer? I know she's meant to be singing the requiem for signora at the beginning, but I don't think she has an actual line after that, unless she sounds a lot like Sandrone. I assume that to be the reason why Columbina/Lumine wasn't canonized yet.

also this was literally my first time ever writing Actual Lesbian Smut, and not like. futa. so that was fun to figure out.

from the start I've approached the AU with the knowledge that I would absolutely yeet tf out of the canon if I decided it didn't suit what I wanted to do, and this is kinda the first instance where it'll really be applied. if more information is revealed about DILF pierro that makes me reconsider, then good on mhy, otherwise I'll be keeping to my headcanon of pierro's identity. which is a character we've canonically met already.
