Paper Beast has gotten a new trailer that shows creature and terrain interaction in Sony's State of Play!

Paper Beast merch and a playable preview at Gamescom

You need to have an Instagram account to see it, but in the Instagram story of the official Pixel Reef account you can see some new Paper Beast merchandise such as canvas bags, t-shirts, and a poster!

These are going to be available at Gamescom; a convention in Germany where visitors will also be able to see an exclusive preview for the game.

Curious about the music in Paper Beast?

Well yesterday on twitter the official Paper Beast account has just told us that Paper Beast’s soundtrack will be a collaboration between Tsushimamire and  Roly Porter.

Roly Porter does experimental ambient tracks (one of this blog’s mods’s favourite music genres!) with an official twitter you can check out here: https://twitter.com/RolyPorter

When we have the time our blog’s main mod will be creating a playlist mix of some songs from their more recent works that you can check out too. Feel free to look them up in your own time in the meanwhile.

A consistent theme in the games of Eric Chahi is an astronomic well-made soundtrack. Both these groups are immensely talented and the trailer music was quite impressive so we’re excited for what the full game will have to offer. Hopefully it gets an official soundtrack release!

We were aware of these for a little bit before. A German magazine leaked a few of them.

It’s good to know they are official though. We didn't know for sure.

BIG UPDATES!

The Pixel Reef website is now officially LIVE.

There is a counter counting down to the two weeks April 12th reveal time that was rumored!

Paper Beast also has its twitter (now active) a facebook page, and an Instagram page!

Eric Chahi’s newest project is also teased here in this video, at around the 25:13 point with a skit involving Eric and some choice vegetables.

Also, we do have a rumor that Paper Beast is being officially announced on April 10th.

We’re starting to get more write ups and tiny little vague synopsies. Not really telling what we don’t already know, but enough to really make us excited.

Apologies for the lack of updates. The Pixel Reef team and the beta testers for Paper Beast have been very good at keeping the entire project under wraps, and we have nothing new to share publicly at the moment. However, here is the link to what appears to be the official Pixel Reef Twitter account. Not much has been going on, but be sure to keep a look out.

Eric Chahi has done an interview with Pixelpost.pl and has given us a mid-2019 estimate for the premier of Paper Beast, and says that the game will be somewhat of a simulation experience. We also can see the logo for Pixel Reef. It looks nice.

Online trademark databases are now showing the Paper Beast trademark that was filed by Pixel Reef on August 3rd 2017. Included is a mockup of what appears to be the logo. This is the first image for Paper Beast that has appeared online. It reveals no information about the world or characters so far.

September 2016 - Pixel Reef receives largest possible grant from the CNC for “Paper Beast”

In September 2016, a mysteriously unheard of studio called Pixel Reef received a grant of 200,000€ (the highest amount that can be awarded) from the CNC for use on a project simply titled Paper Beast.

It wasn’t until December 2016 that through research it was revealed that this game is the current project of none other than Eric Chahi; known for Another World, Heart of Darkness, and most recently From Dust among others.

We’ve decided to create a blog to talk about and report on what is being released to the public about Paper Beast: Eric Chahi’s newest game.

Eric seems to have chosen to be very elusive and secretive about the project this time around. Seeing as the public spun misinformation about the Heart of Darkness development due to its length in the public eye, this is probably for the best.

We know however that he founded a new studio named Pixel Reef to work on the game and that he is working with VR.

We’ll share more information when it becomes available.
