Rambling about design

I lost my pen so I can’t draw digitally but I thought I’d post some bust sketches I did today.

I’ve decided to make June’s bangs into micro bangs in order to allow her eyebrows to express more freely as opposed to drawing them THROUGH her hair which I’ve never been a fan of doing. I’m still debating whether to keep her eyebrows as is or make them smaller (as seen below).

I don’t know if she looks too young now though, a bit too neat. I think it’s the eyebrows so :/

I’m also trying to figure out how to draw Rhett’s head shape so she doesn’t look too similar to June which I think was an issue in some earlier designs. The main features are different but I’m really trying to avoid Same Face Syndrome.

She has a lip now 🙌🙌

I prefer this design over the others I’ve been testing out even if it’s not perfect. I think a defined skull shape suits her better she looks kind of alien-like which I’m trying to go for. Still need to learn how to draw buzzcuts though, and the back of the skull for that matter.

Their outfits + body types are a whole nother story for another day I don’t even want to think about that.

Plus I still have to figure out how to draw the antagonists + side characters. I can see them clearly in my head but I CANNOT draw men for the life of me, they all end up looking like butch lesbians so I need to study that too (men, I mean, unfortunately, not butch lesbians)

I guess it’s kind of good I lost my pen because now I’m being forced to actually learn stuff.

Basic concept explanation:

The year is 0, the age of time travel. Said time travelers are kept in check by specialized agents working for the CEO of time travel.

These agents include ticket collectors to ensure people travel safely, cleanup crews for when people don’t travel safely, and enforcers who handle disruptions like time loops, paradoxes, and bloodline slashers.

June is a loop scout, tasked with gathering information over repeated time loops with a task-force. However, each time she dies in a loop, a new version of her is created with her memories, while the original is permanently dead. This on its own may not bother some but the cycle of cloning and dying takes a toll on the brain over time which causes it to literally explode once it’s reached breaking point. Of course this is hidden by the higher-ups to ensure scouts keep gathering information.
