Figured out why I can’t ship Y with absolutely anyone (she’s interacted with so far).
I do want to ship her with someone, but can’t if only because she’s sorely missing something in her life and everyone has yet to give her any:
Emotional support.
Being bullied at the Sky Trainer academy and having absolutely no friends there? Y just grit her teeth and stayed, because she still refused to walk down the path her mother laid out for her.
Horribly depressed because her mother is missing and the last time they saw each other they had a terrible argument? Her friends are aware she’s in pain but can’t think of anything to help her, and she had to break herself out of her funk while battling her school bully.
Sees her mother struck down and unconscious? Jumps out to defend her but f*cks up in her fury? As soon as she and her friends are free, she tells her friends exactly where their priorities should lie and what they have to do despite wanting to stay by her mother’s side.
Absolutely p*ssed at best friend for doing something incredibly stupid? Instead of cutting loose and yelling at him, which would result in him clamming up, she calmly tells him exactly why he was stupid and how much he worried her.
So yeah, every time Y’s emotionally struck down, she’s essentially forced to pick herself up because no one, not even her friends (who she loves and love her in turn), helps her out in that regard.
I doubt we’ll see it in the XY chapter, if only because we’re running out of time with SM around the corner, but I want for her to just admit to someone how tired she is. The stuff she’s been dealing with even before Vaniville Town got destroyed was pretty emotionally draining. Maybe someone in the SM chapter will lend her an ear and a shoulder. Poor girl needs it badly.

Chendy Headcanons:
Part 1 of my @ftfemslash exchange for @kyogre-blue
Herbal remedies for days.
They spend a lot of time together after the war because Wendy’s magic feels similar to Chelia’s and helps her cope with the loss.
They both end up going to medical school together which helps Wendy with her healing magic and sets Chelia on a new path.
They both stay with Porlyusica (for as long as she can bear the smell) and she takes as much of a liking to Chelia as she already does for Wendy.
Yukino also trains them both in martial arts to improve their fighting with and without magic.
Chelia ends up being Lamia Scale’s version of Porlyusica but stays with Wendy in Magnolia most of the time unless it’s urgent.
Wendy gets Carla to fly Chelia around a lot especially when she’s upset about losing her magic so she can feel the wind and sky again.
When Wendy asks Chelia about making that hard decision she simply says ‘I did it for love’ and that’s how she confesses and they get together.
They’re pretty much inseparable.
Chelia fights all of the gross old men who fancy Wendy and kicks the shit out of them – magic or not.
They take advantage of everyone thinking they’re sweet and innocent to pull pranks (although Wendy doesn’t like to do anything too mean) and can pretty much get away with anything.
By pranks I mean they steal a lot of sweets from the guild kitchens.
Yukino will send over batches of floating cookies sometimes which always brightens Chelia’s spirits and she slips Wendy the recipe for bad days.
Chelia gets pretty lonely when Wendy’s out on jobs so always plans a huge meal and lots of baking to keep herself busy.
Their dates are often pretty simple: picnics outside, a walk in the park or on the beach, going to get ice cream. That’s enough.
Even though Wendy’s the one going on dangerous and interesting missions she always finds Chelia has better stories just from wandering around Magnolia.
She’s an excellent story teller and Wendy could listen to her all day.
Sometimes she does just that.
Basically they just love each other and their company a lot and although they can be independent and happy they’re so much better together.
