Thoughts on a recent design project.

I’m not that big on typography and modifying text to look cool. I’m not sure why that is and I should start looking into a bit more. It has a place in design and I need to understand how to use it and when to use it.

My strength is in taking an image and making it into an illustrative symbol for the brand. Get biked, Hunter St and this all featured a found image that had been converted into either a line drawing or solid colour image. I can develop this a bit further, understand new techniques and ways of working so I can get better at it. I learnt how to use illustrator shapes to make exactly what I want without having to just pen tool out the ass.

I need to make an online portfolio featuring Get Biked, Hunter St, AMSA, AW and now MONOCHROME. It doesn’t have to be anything extra and it doesn’t have to be anything special. I think we could use the current tumblr & website to make it work, especially because I have hundreds of business cards with that URL & email on it. I need to set that email up properly too, might be able to use this outlook to do it!

·         Clean up a design portfolio

·         Get it on the bpatch-works website separate from the photography, even if that just means taking off the photography for now.

·         Get email onto this laptop in outlook

Start saving research somewhere so you can review it later. Researched: FRESH / CLASSY / MODERN logo design and typography, understood that it meant clean lines and unique elements. Maybe try to write as I work so I can properly see where I’m at and make sure I don’t go in circles or anything. Managed to evolve the font pretty quickly, although still waiting to hear back from Nath about that part.

Need to maybe work on my personal branding a bit more too. Maybe develop stuff for ‘bpatch-works’ but then transfer it all over to ‘brent patching’ later. BP bp BuhrentPat
