FINALLY.

The Haruhi Suzumiya manga series is out of print. AFAIK, it has been since as soon as they came out in English about a decade ago, and availability and prices of different volumes vary wildly. The total of the original list prices was about $250, or almost $350 adjusted for inflation, and that probably is about what I paid for them all, but it felt like a lot more than that because volumes 16 and 20 are so much rarer that they each cost about $40.

Thoughts?

The comment thread over on YouTube says the intended division here is isekai where the main character adapts to living in the world they're transported to (Narnia) vs. those where they bring knowledge/technology from their world to change the other world (Yankee). Someone else pointed out that the examples also sort of map onto playing the fantasy elements straight (Narnia) vs. some sort of parody or criticism of the fantasy world (Yankee).

Watching Danmachi Season 5 and I am delighted that someone else already had this idea for how to summarize it.

This feels like the sort of thing that would justify reaching deep into the "anthropomorphic personifications" section of Greek mythology and sending this lady after her.
