Kate Sharma is finally here and I , a desi girl could not be more excited than I am today! I’m so happy that the production team chose Simone Ashley. I simply cannot wait for all our lovely Kathony moments in Bridgerton season 2! Let’s celebrate with a fanart today. I added bits and pieces of the process and inspiration as well. I’m looking forward to how the official costume team would fuse Regency fashion with South Asian fashion.

this halloween season, please remember that nosferatu (1922) is an allegory for the ‘invasion’ of jewish immigrants. count orlok is an antisemitic caricature, and his image in the movie is quite literally responsible for anti-jewish nazi propaganda. the movie itself is about jews perversing and defiling western culture, assaulting gentile women, etc. etc. please, please don’t ignore the potent antisemitism in the movie.

Lord Alfred Bruce Douglas, b. 22 October 1870 ↳ “Your sonnet is quite lovely, and it is a marvel that those red rose-leaf lips of yours should be made no less for the madness of music and song than for the madness of kissing. Your slim gilt soul walks between passion and poetry. I know Hyacinthus, whom Apollo loved so madly, was you in Greek days.

Here’s this man who believed when he died that his name would be toxic for generations to come. For hundreds of years, his works wouldn’t be read. He would stand for nothing but perversion. Utter disgust of a society that couldn’t bear people like him.
Well, two years ago, the Irish government and the French partook and shared in the restoration of his sarcophagus, his tomb in Père Lachaise Cemetary in Paris, and it had to be restored, because the polished stone of its surface had corroded through kisses.
Wouldn’t it just be allowed to wake him up, just for five minutes, just to tell him that, then he could go back to sleep again?
– Stephen Fry, 2016

House of La Marck & of Tudor: Anne of Cleves (Anna von Kleve)
Anne of Cleves, also known by her German name Anna von Kleve, was born on September 22, 1515. Her parents are John III, Duke of Cleves and Maria, Duchess of Jülich-Berg. She was the second child and daughter for the couple. Anne’s siblings are Electress Sibylle of Saxony, Duke William of Jülich-Cleves-Berg and Amalia of Cleves.
Amalia and Anne were both considered as possible wives for Henry VIII of England. After he saw portraits of each of them, he chose Anne. It is probable that he chose her over her younger sister Amalia was because the latter had less favorable hereditary rights in her father’s duchy.
However, the marriage did not last long and was annulled only 7 months and 3 days after the ceremony. Anne agreed to the annulment which was made official on July 9, 1540. Since the marriage had not been consumated, Anne remained officially a maiden.
The former queen received a generous settlement, including Richmond Palace, and Hever Castle, home of Henry’s former in-laws, the Boleyns. Henry and Anne became good friends—she was an honorary member of the King’s family and was referred to as “the King’s Beloved Sister”. She was invited to court often and, out of gratitude for her not contesting the annulment, Henry decreed that she would be given precedence over all women in England save his own wife and daughters.
Anne of Cleves died of breast cancer on July 16, 1557. She was the last of Henry VIII’s wifes to die. Catherine Parr had died nine years earlier.
