Shockwave and Body Language

During my TF:P re-watch I kept taking note of various Shockwave movements because I noticed they tend to really exaggerate his movements when he does things - like speaking - to, presumably, make up for the lack of facial expressions. While he is Still very often, when he does move, he tends to move a LOT and with great exaggerated motions to sort of emphasize how he operates or what he’s feeling (comes up most often when he’s annoyed or angry; almost always at Starscream) and I wonder if, more than just animator’s intent, it’s something he himself doesn’t do unconsciously to make up for the lack of expression elsewhere. He doesn’t exactly have a face to express himself with, so the next best thing is body language.

((This is how I think fliers percieve their surroundings when in their altmode. Here their HUD is disabled, which is NOT SAFE, but they seem familiar and comfortable with flying this way. It's understandable as the HUD can sometimes distract from the sheer beauty of being airborne.

Here are some examples of what and ON HUD would look like. Minus the cockpit view.

The only discrepancies in this example is that fliers have a wider visual range than what's portrayed as well as augmented sensors that allow them to sense what around them. Similar to Ampullae of Lorenzini organ in shark and rays.

Imagine this but on an aircraft, they're almost shaped the same....

These sensors can also be found on the face plates of fliers in Root Mode but have little use besides letting a bot know that there is something near their faceplate which they can use their optics for. Depending on the configuration of a bots Alt mode the sensors can be located on any part of a mechs Frame. Most contemporary Alt modes put them on the back, lower back, abdominal and chest plates as standard.

Because of the processing power needed for feedback analysis Fliers are prone to becoming over stimulated or under stimulated at times and needing to have some form of stimuli to function day-to-day. When idle you find Fliers engaging in behaviors called stimming to self-regulate.

((Lol, I like to imagine flyers and seekers are the say way. When you have two giant, wind catching apparatuses on you back, sudden changes of direction can through you off balance.

Their sensitive wings mean they are constantly processing information, causing them to stand very still as they go through it all.

Most flyers are farsighted and will notice movement from long distances away so sometimes they might hold a thosand yard stare then suddenly refocus on something closer by.

Unlike other Cybertronians, flyer helms are gyroscopic wired, meaning their fixed on a spot, regardless of their orientation.

And finally, some Flyers have a condition known as Flat Affect, meaning they don't always physically express their emotions.

On a personal note, articles on this condition are written as if this is some sort of disorder, and not just a behavior. That is weird to me, as sometimes you can just feel emotions and not need to physically express them. Why do you have to show people your emotions? Neurotypicals sound puppies...))

i think something that freaks people out about birds might be their movements: like unlike mammals (derogatory) birds (but also like reptiles and bugs) don’t have many facial expressions, and they move in quick sharp snaps of their necks\bodies, almost like machines if you really really wish to describe it as such?? but personally i’m in love with it, it’s just almost mesmerizing, so fascinating, their ways of moving and interacting with the world really gets me, they’re listening!!! they’re paying attention!!! i can’t get enough of dinosaurs and their quirkiness, in this house we love and appreciate birds traits

Rock, papers, scissors, Triforce!

I was staring at this picture when I noticed the place of each goddess symbol within each Triforce piece. They correspond to each of the Golden Goddesses but their placement is off. Power is where Wisdom should be, Wisdom is where Courage should be, and Courage is where Power should be. I was like 'Huh, they're usually pretty good about keeping lore accurate...?' Then I thought about it. In the LOZ games the dynamic is almost always the same, Zelda guides/assists Link on his quest,  Ganondorf always captures Zelda, Link always defeats Ganondorf (until he doesn't...) It's like rock, paper, scissors (sometimes...)

Chapter one #3 How do optics work?

OPTION TWO: FLUORESCENCE

An incredibly short description:

Fluorescence and phosphorescence are physical phenomenons, happening in various materials. They depend on the atomic structure of the material. Phosphorescence takes more time than fluorescence and they are both types of one phenomenon- luminescence.

So how do they work?

Particles and atoms always have some electrons in them. Because of the atomic forces, the electrons are not just flying around, but stay on one path- they have one certain Energy level. (So they stay in an area where they can have the amount of Energy that suits them).

When a photon hits an atom(or a particle) it’s Energy is transferred to the electron on one Energy level, which jumps from its place to a higher Energy level.

It does not stay there but it falls back down to its original level and while doing it, the falling electron sends the Energy out of the atom; in the form of a light wave or more often; a heat wave.

Whats interesting The parameters of the emitted wave are not dependent on the parameters of the wave causing the effect.

But to cause this effect the incoming light wave has to have just the right amount of Energy to move electron to its next Energy level.

How much Energy is needed? It depends on the atomic structure of the material. Some electrons will need more Energy and some less, making them responsive to different light waves…or, in other words, colours!

Sadly this option excludes IR vision.

Why?

According to the law of Energy Conservation, the light hitting the particle will always have higher frequency(more Energy) than one escaping the particle afterwards. It is like this because the incoming wave gives its Energy to an electron, but then the electron uses some of this Energy to go up and drop back, so there is only a small part of initial Energy left to emanate/escape as a light wave.

So this is a theoretical scheme of photoreceptor in an optic, which can recognize energy of visible or UV light by which electrons “jump”, or which particle reacts to it.

And when they die light goes out because…maybe energon is luminescent-I mean WE KNOW IT IS. THAT’S WHY IT GLOWS. But I mean, maybe it makes the luminescent layer itself or fills the photoreceptors.

So maybe

Then we would have a model where different photoreceptors in retina have different amount of Energy in electron levels so they sense different waves.

But as I mentioned earlier far more often the Energy of an electron is radiated through heat.

Not to worry, there actually is another effect called THERMOLUMINESCENCE.

So technically we could have a scenario where:

Photon comes in, gets to photoluminescent retina where photoreceptors recognize the amount of energy and create photopigment. Then electrons drop back to their basic state and radiate heat which upon touching the front of the optic-lights it up.

This way the heat would be conducted out of the system and we would get all the glowing parts, which stop glowing after death as the energon stops flowing through, so there is less heat.

We can assume that those could work, as their bodies are literally made of some alien, unknown living metal and also we have NO IDEA what ENERGON IS.

This idea is a big stretch and would need a lot more in-depth analysis of how sensors and laboratories measure luminescent reactions.

Technically this could work a bit like photoresisthors do(changing resistance depending on how strong the light is) , just their material being luminescent.

That would give Cybertronians vision constructed of pixels!

Stimming by making noises, discovers the sksksk that lures out squirrels

Sensitive senses means discovering and refusing to eat rotten/poisonous food

Sees bird eat nut - impulsively tries it too and discovers that nuts taste good

Cons of having ADHD:
