I have come to the realization that what I want (need?) from S5 is lazy making out on the couch. I want them sprawled out on the couch, legs tangled together, hands under shirts, slowly moving together - not PG13 anymore, but not R rated either. Just comfortable simmering heat. And then presumably they get interrupted by someone, but I want domestic making out because they have time now, because they're sure of each other, because they know they're going to bed together at the end of the night and waking up together in the morning and they don't have to rush.

One day I was at the London zoo and they threw a bunch of kiwi fruits into the chimp cage. An older, grumpy chimp immediately jumped up, scurried over, and through one of the kiwis in his mouth before the younger ones could get it. I turned to my friend and said, "Oh, I guess they eat the skins." But as we watched, the chimp chewed and chewed...and eventually spit out the smushed, uneaten skin onto the ground. My friend and I laughed so hard at this and stood there to watch as the chimp ate several more in the same way!

So ~90% of us eat kiwis the same way chimps do...not sure what that says about the rest of you. 😁

My favorite thing about fanfic authors is they can identify any gap in a canon timeline where characters are offscreen and exploit the ever living fuck out of it

And as a forensic scientist, let me be very clear that he did it! I have seen all the evidence, and he absolutely slaughtered two innocent people in hot blood, almost severing his ex-wife's head in his rage. However, due to years of corruption and bad treatment of POCs by the L.A. cops (plus the fact that O.J. was a movie star), he was found not guilty in the criminal case. The trial was televised so millions of people watched it--it was a cultural phenomenon, and people were shocked that he literally got away with murder. So yeah, it's a big deal that he's gone.

People who weren’t alive in the 90s really don’t get what a media-eating frenzy the O.J. Simpson trial was. I’m already seeing Zoomers here make hot takes about it only being a thing Americans care(d) about — but it really wasn’t! The case was so lurid and it was so clear he did it and yet the politics and discourse of it all was so wild that the whole world was eating it up, no matter how little they gave a shit about American football. You can watch Britcoms from the 90s (and like, REALLY British ones) that make quips about O.J. Simpson. You could go up to a random person in the street in Tokyo or Rio or Moscow etc. who was old enough to be watching TV news regularly in 1995 and they’ll recognize the name. It’s not an America-vs.-the-world thing that some people on here who are younger don’t know who he is, it’s this weird incuriosity among a lot of very online people that acts like the world began in 2010.

It's super common for people with similar personalities to not like each other--I see it all the time--so this explanation totally makes sense to me! 😁

You know what really puts lorelais weird kind of hate and resentment for jess into perspective, that fact that both her and jess left their romantic relationships without saying a word or giving any indication about leaving, lorelai with max and jess with rory. While lorelai and max were more committed and I they both definitely left for extremely different reasons, it kind if shows how their behaviors mirror eachother and how they are the same despite disliking eachother. This also feeds the theory that lorelai hates jess because she sees herself in him. Things are also mirrored by the way jess leaves because he loves rory too much to drag her into his personal problems, and how lorelai doesn't love max enough to drag him into her life with her and rory(im not actually sure about this last part but that's how I see it)
