Tumblr media
You have received an invitation by the neighboring kingdom of Volkov, they were inviting you and your husband to their grand ball in celebration of the king’s birthday.
As you were checking yourself in the mirror you suddenly heard a knock on the door, “Are you all prepared my dear?” your husband asked.
“I- um… yes, I’m all ready now.” You replied and stood up swiftly from your seat then grabbed all your belongings before leaving the room.
Once you opened the door, your husband greeted you with awe and admiration in his eyes. You were wearing a deep red ball gown with beads and pearls surrounding it, there was nothing really special about your ball gown, in fact, you found it stocked away in your closet. “You always look so mesmerizing, my love.” He said and kissed you on the cheek and offered his arm for you to hold.
Attending grand balls wasn't something you really liked, in fact, you always found them socially tiring but your husband thinks otherwise. He would always be happy to attend these gatherings, because of the chance to socialize with other people which he oh so love whereas you were acting like an obedient wife following him everywhere he goes.
~~~
You finally arrived at the ball and as usual, you walked beside your husband as he chatted with some of your friends and acquaintances.
“Artur, it has been a while old friend.” A man suddenly said as he shook your husband’s hand and kissed your gloved hand as a greeting. You realized that it was the king himself, Roman Volkov.
“It has been indeed, I see you’ve finally married.” Artur gesturing to the woman who is assumingly his wife who has a fan covered across her face, only her eyes seemingly visible to you.
Emerald eyes. Eyes that you remember all too well.
It’s her.
“I’m Natasha, it's a pleasure to meet you Artur.” Natasha spoke and bowed slightly to him.
“The pleasure is all mine,” your husband said as he kissed Natasha’s gloved hand, “This is my wife, Y/N.” Artur introduced and you bowed to her slightly in greeting.
“Why don’t you both ladies chat whilst Artur and I chat to catch up on things while having drinks?” Roman said as he planted his arm onto your husband’s shoulder.
“Sounds like a great idea,” Artur suddenly chimed.
A total bad idea.
“Alright, but don’t drink too much.” You said to him.
“I’ll see you later, love.” Artur said, then kissed you on the cheek before he left with Roman. You could feel Natasha’s eyes on the both of you.
Natasha removed the fan from her face revealing her full facial features, it’s like she hasn’t even aged. She still looks beautiful as you remembered. “Follow me.” she said before you both walked in silence.
Someone holds me safe and warm
Your mind was racing with questions, it has been merely 12 years since you saw each other and the night you promised her a life with you for eternity.
Horses prance through a silver storm
Figures dancing gracefully
“Some wine?” Natasha offered as the two of you entered what assumably is their entertainment hall because of the piano on the side of the room and with the bookshelves around.
“No, thank you.” You replied, making Natasha shrug and poured herself some wine.
“I can’t believe you’re married, for how long?” you asked.
Natasha swallowed her wine and replied, “For almost five years now.”
Your heart sank upon hearing those words, but you knew it was bound to happen after what you said to her all those years ago.
“I'll end our marriage in five years time, and I promise that I'll be with you until my last breath.”
Across my memory
“Do you actually love him? Is that why you didn't leave him like you said you would years ago?” Natasha suddenly blurted out.
You were taken aback by her question, “Natasha, I-”
“It’s only a simple yes or no question Y/N.”
You took a deep breath, trying to calm yourself down before saying, “Yes, I love him.”
That wasn't enough to convince her. She started to move closer and you kept backing away but eventually your back hit the wall, “Look me in the eyes and say that one more time.”
Far away long ago
You looked into her emerald green eyes, oh how you missed those eyes of hers, eyes that would look at you with much love and admiration, but now, her eyes were filled with something different, rage, anger, and sadness.
Glowing dim as an ember
Your mouth opened but nothing came out making Natasha smirk and say, “I know you’re lying but if you insist.”
You wanted to speak but you knew she wasn't done, “You said to wait for you for five years but I waited for six long painful years before I fully convinced myself that you weren’t coming back. I eventually decided to marry Roman. I told myself that I’ll learn to love him and hopefully forget about you throughout our marriage.
But I couldn’t, I acted like a faithful wife around him but I acted like I was in a brothel when he wasn’t around. I slept with multiple women trying to banish you from my mind but I just couldn’t.”
You were stunned and shocked with what she said but she continued, “You probably have forgotten about me after all these years, seeing that you didn’t come back for me five years after you got married.”
Things my heart used to know
You couldn't stay quiet any longer,  “How could I forget the woman who loved me for who I am, the woman who made me feel like I was safe with her. The woman who made me feel like I was… home.” You replied and you suddenly felt your eyes sting, tears wanting to fall but you stopped yourself from being too vulnerable in front of her.
“If you truly loved me, you could’ve done what you promised all those years ago!” Natasha said in an almost yelling tone. She saw you flinch at her words and immediately regretted raising her voice at you, “I-I'm sorry.” she said and approached you once again.
Things it yearns to remember
She cupped your cheek and her eyes flickered onto your lips silently asking for consent. You nodded slightly and closed your eyes until finally feeling her lips on yours. It was filled with passion and longing, almost like it was a perfect puzzle.
You missed this, you missed the feeling of kissing her, touching her, you missed everything about her.
“You’re as beautiful as the day I last saw you.” you said which made Natasha smile sadly.
Your tears started to stream down your cheeks and she was there to wipe them, just like how she would before.
“Would you still run away with me if I asked you to?” Natasha asked with a slight smirk on her face.
You shook your head slightly, “I can’t.” you whispered.
“You can’t or you won’t?” Natasha retorted.
You held her hand and placed it onto your stomach, “I’m… pregnant.”
You felt Natasha tense up at the unexpected news but she asked, “Does he know?” and you shook your head, “I haven’t told him yet.”
“We can still run away together, we’ll take care and raise the child like our own.”
“Don’t be ridiculous Natasha,” you let go of her hand and walked to where the wine bottle was, grabbing yourself a glass.  “Artur has been wanting to have a child for years and me leaving him for you is a death sentence, for me and especially you.” You said and immediately drank half of the wine in your glass. “This unborn child is now my priority. That is why as much as I want to leave the place I call hell everyday and take another chance of a new life with you I can’t.”
You took another drink and more tears started to flow down, “It also would be best if this is the last time we’ll see each other.” you said with a choked sob.
Natasha immediately approached you and made you face her, “No, no, moya lyubov, please,” she begged. If her voice already sounded like she was hurt, her eyes showed more pain. “It’s been more than a decade since we last saw each other Y/N, isn’t this supposed to be a sign from the gods that we’re meant to be with each other?”
She was right, despite after not seeing each for years on end, fate had decided that the both of you would meet once again once the both of you had lost all hope.
Only in different and more complicated circumstances now.
Natasha held your hand and said, “Please Y/N, don’t leave me again.” Her eyes were begging for you to leave with her.
A sudden knock on the door made you both stand still. “Y/N? Are you in there with Natasha?” It was your husband.
“I… uh- yes, we’re in here.” you replied and Artur entered the room.
“As much as I hate to interrupt your chatting but we best get going, it is almost midnight and I know how much you value your rest.” He said as he wrapped his arm around your waist, “I sure hope you and Natasha had a great chat.”
“We did.” Natasha dryly replied with a fake smile plastered on her face as he looked at your husband.
Artur smiled and asked you, “Well, shall we go?”
“Yes, let’s go.” you replied and Artur started to walk you outside with him. “Actually, there’s something I’d like to ask Natasha… alone.” you said to him.
“Alright my love, I’ll wait for you outside.” Artur then left the room and once you heard him shut the door you immediately rushed towards Natasha and crashed your lips onto hers one last time.
And a song someone sings
Natasha felt it, and you did too.
It was farewell.
You walked out of the room without saying another word, only holding onto the memory of a forbidden love that two women failed to save despite being given another chance to do so.
Perhaps in another life or in another universe, you and Natasha lived the lives you wanted together. It just wasn’t this one.
love and literature | chapter 3: bad kind of butterflies.
professor!natasha romanoff x college student!reader
summary: some unexpected news from your sister.
contains: just some tension ig
previous chapter | next chapter
Tumblr media
It has already been a month since you have been living with Natasha on the same roof and a lot of adjustments have been made, not only at home but also at school. Some of them were fine but the rest of them annoyed the hell out of you.
You hate her that was certain, but you have been feeling things for her whenever the two of you had interactions with each other. Whether they were good or bad. You knew it was wrong and weird but you fantasized about kissing her
“You coming Y/N?” Wanda asked as you were walking to your next class along with Pietro, Peter and Carol.
Pietro is Wanda’s twin brother and you have the same classes with him in almost every single subject except for Russian Literature that’s why you have been friends with him too.
Well for Peter, you and him have been lab partners since freshman year and he has been a huge help for you when it came to Science. He is definitely a Science geek but he means well.
As for Carol, apparently has had a thing for you since you started playing for the volleyball team of the university. She’s a beautiful blonde, has a bold yet great personality and is even the captain of the cheerleading team.
You decided to give it a shot, even though you already told her that you don’t take relationships that seriously. She agreed saying that she’s willing to risk it and that she might even change that for you. And now, you have just been letting the relationship take its course and see where it will take you.
“You know I can’t Wanda, ever since Natasha moved in I haven’t been able to go out after school because I apparently have to ride home with her.” You replied with a hint of disappointment and annoyance in your voice.
This was one of the adjustments that annoyed you, since Natasha brings her car to school everyday, your sister told you that you can just ride home with her. Except for the days that you have student council work to do or you have volleyball training cause you go home later than usual. You couldn’t even stay in one room together without you feeling a bit angry or annoyed at her, let alone a car ride home with her even though it’s only a 30 minute car ride.
“Oh come on baby, it’s the weekend tomorrow, why don’t you text your sister that you’re going out later and see how that goes.” Carol said as she placed her arm around your waist.
Wanda rubbed her temple and said, “I swear, Professor Romanoff isn’t even your sister and yet she acts like one more than Maria.”
“She’s more like a babysitter in my opinion.” Pietro snickered, making Wanda roll her eyes at her twin brother.
You started typing your text message to Maria and a few seconds later you hit send. Your sister immediately read the text message and replied with, “Alright, just don’t be home too late.”
“So?” Wanda asked as she heard the sound from your phone.
“She said yes.” You replied, making Wanda squeal with joy.
“Hell yeah! We’re getting drunk tonight.” Peter cheered.
~~~
You were now at the parking lot of the school on your way to find Natasha, a few moments later you finally saw Natasha and she was leaning against her car with a cigarette in hand, she was also already looking in your direction.
“Isn’t this a non-smoking area?” You asked with your arms crossed.
Natasha hummed, “Yes, but I am not a student like you.” She quipped.
You wanted to roll your eyes so badly at her response but you stopped yourself, “I’m not riding home with you today, I’ve got plans.” You said as you looked directly at her emerald green eyes.
“And by plans you mean?” She asked with her brow raised and a drag from her cigarette.
“I’m just going out with my friends.” You simply replied.
Natasha looked behind you and saw that Carol was waiting by the light post a few meters away from the both of you. “Right, friends.” she said with obvious sarcasm in her voice. She clicked her tongue and asked, “Does Maria know about this?”
“She does,” You replied and showed her your conversation with Maria earlier.
It wasn’t what she meant, she wanted to know if Maria knew about you dating the cheerleader but she would just ask you about that some other time.
“Fine, I’ll see you later.” She lastly said before she dropped her cigarette onto the ground and stepped on it, she then went into her car and drove off.
“Shall we go?” You suddenly heard Carol ask as she held your hand.
You nodded and said, “Yeah, let’s go and have some fun.”
~~~
A few drinks later, you decided to call it a night, it was getting late and you didn’t want an earful from your sister at an ungodly hour.
But what you didn’t expect was seeing a very familiar car waiting by the entrance. The window rolled down and you saw the very least person you wanted to see, Natasha.
“I didn’t ask for a chauffeur.” You said with annoyance.
“Your sister asked me to pick you up. She has an emergency at work if that's why you're wondering I'm the one picking you up instead of your sister.” Natasha plainly said to you with her piercing eyes almost as if she's going to eat you whole.
You were a bit scared with how she's looking at you but your anger and annoyance were dominating, “I'm not riding with you, I'm clearly not drunk so I don't need someone to bring me home. Plus, I'm going to walk Carol to her dorm.”
If Natasha was keeping her composure earlier, she’s sure as hell isn't now after you mentioned that girl.
What she did next is something you didn't expect at all, she got out of her car and grabbed both of your arms, placed them on your back then pushed you onto the wall and twisted one of your arms making you hiss and curse in pain.
“Ow! S-stop that!” you yelped.
Natasha leaned on your ear and whispered, “I'm going to stop once you step inside the car. So, I'll tell you this one more time, get. in.”
The way her voice husked in your ear definitely made you feel something but you still weren't going to easily fold, “Like hell I will.” you said making Natasha twisting your arm more making you scream in pain this time. After a few moments you finally gave up, “A-Alright, I-I'll get in.” you said, making Natasha chuckle and let go of your wrist, “Good, thought we're going to be here all night.”
Natasha then strutted back to her car as you continued to rub your wrist in pain later seeing a slight bruise forming as you entered the car.
“That's gonna teach you to listen to me, Y/N. I may be living rent free in your household but that doesn't mean you're allowed to disrespect me once we're outside campus.” Natasha said as she started to drive away.
You rolled your eyes and sat silent in your seat, until your phone rang, the caller ID revealing that your girlfriend was calling. "Hey babe. Yeah sorry, apparently, my sister told Natasha to pick me up." you heard Natasha click her tongue.
"I'll make it up to you tomorrow, I promise. Alright. Bye." you said then ended the call.
"Didn't say the 'L' word?" Natasha suddenly asked.
You scoffed, "No, we're not seriously dating. There's no need for that."
"Ah, so it's more on just sex then?" Natasha asked with a smirk on her face.
"What? N-no I mean… kind of, I mean…" you groan in frustration, "You know what, it's none of your business."
"Fine, I already got a clue anyway just from the answer alone." Natasha replied, her smirk not leaving her face.
"Whatever." you said while rolling your eyes.
Natasha suddenly grabbed your thigh and dug her nails into it making you hiss in pain, "Roll your eyes at me one more time, you're going to get it." she said as she continued driving and digging her nails into your thigh.
What she said and did made you remain still and silent in your seat, thankfully, you were already near your home.
Once you arrived, you immediately left the car and went inside to your bedroom, laying face planted onto the mattress and finally succumbed to sleep.
~~~
"I'm going on a business trip for a few weeks," Maria said as you ate breakfast.
"What? You're leaving me here?" You said in shock and disbelief.
"I wish you could come with me but you have school and plus, you have Natasha to stay here with you."
That was the issue, you didn't want to be left alone together with the woman you certainly despised with your whole being.
"When are you leaving?" Natasha asked as she got up from her seat and placed her dishes on the sink.
"Tonight, so that's why I won't be here once you guys get back." Maria replied as she also got up and placed her dishes on the sink.
You lastly got up and gathered all your dishes and placed them in the dishwasher. After that, you hugged your sister and said, "Take care big sis."
She hugged you back and replied, "Of course I will. I love you little sis."
You said I love you back and Natasha was just watching the whole scene unfold in front of her, it always made her smile when she would see you let all your guard down around your sister, it just meant that you really felt safe around her.
It reminded her of her sister, Yelena. Who is busy traveling the world and living her best life, making up for the lost time she had before because of their past.
Maria released her embrace. “Go wait for Natasha in her car, I have to talk to her about something first.” she said and you nodded in response then left the room with Natasha's car keys in hand.
Once they heard the door close, Maria took a deep breath and spoke, “You can… take care of her for me right? She tends to be reckless sometimes and I just want to make sure she's not going to be in some trouble while I'm gone.”
“You can count on me Maria, I mean, I already got a taste of that when I picked her up last night.”
What Natasha said made Maria raise a brow at her, “Really? What did she do?”
“She refused to get in the car with me, but it's fine, I managed.” Natasha replied with a slight smirk on her face.
“I see, well… I hope you won't experience more of that in the next few days. Well, anyway, you guys got to go, it's getting a bit late.” Maria lastly said before they hugged and Natasha left the kitchen.
Starting tonight, you'll be left with the woman you hate but at the same time feel certain things for. You're nervous but excited even to see what will happen the next few days of the two of you living together without your sister.
Natasha got in her car and started the engine. But before she starts to drive she looked you in the eyes and said, “Look, I know you don't like me and I can't blame you for that but we'll be living together for a few weeks and I want us to be friends even just for the time being for the sake of your sister.”
A smirk formed on your face, “Alright, if that's what you want then let's be friends.” you simply replied and Natasha did a simple nod in respone and started to drive you both to school.
Let the games begin.

contains: mentions of death, alcohol use, and smoking. painful angst but with a happy ending.
i recommend listening to this song while reading this for more feels.
Tumblr media
You tripped Natasha using your explosive arrows, making her roll to the side and making it your opportunity to run off the cliff. You maintained eye contact with her as you ran, but once you jumped you felt her grab you from behind and she activated her grappling hook.
You held your girlfriend’s wrist as she continued to shake your hand to make you let go of her. “Let me go.” Natasha whispered softly as she looked at you with her emerald eyes.
“No please, don’t leave me.” You said as tears started to form in your eyes.
“It’s okay, I love you Y/N.” Natasha then proceeded to push herself off, making her swing a bit and making you fully lose your grip on her wrist.
You saw every second of her falling to her death, you closed your eyes for a moment and when you opened them once again you saw a glimpse of her lifeless body on the very bottom of the cliff of Vormir, you saw that there was a pool of her own blood surrounding her head. Thunder suddenly roared and lightning began to appear and you became unconscious.
Your eyes snapped open and you immediately sat up, you saw that you were laying on water but then you felt something in your hand, you checked your hand and saw that you finally have the soul stone, but it took a life before you could get it.
Your eyes welled up once more, “Natasha!!” you yelled, releasing all of your sadness and anger during that moment. Your tears streamed down and you cried loudly, grieving the death of your partner in crime, your best friend and the love of your life. She was gone, forever.
“Does she have any family?” Tony asked and the truth is, you didn’t know if she really had any family or not, all you know was that she once had a fake family back then because of a 3 year mission for the Red Room. She would mention her somewhat ‘sister’ Yelena from time to time to you or Clint, but other than that you really have no clue.
Natasha wanted her sister to be kept a secret from the others for her sister’s safety. In respect to her wishes, you just shook your head in response but thankfully Steve suddenly said, “Yeah, us.”
“As long as we have the stones we can bring her back, right?” Thor said as he paced around the small dock by the lake where you were with the other Avengers.
“It can’t be undone, it can’t, at least that’s what the red floating guy said.” You said in a raised tone then you sighed deeply, “She sacrificed herself for the stone and there is no way we can bring her back.” tears started to sting your eyes once again after saying those words.
Bruce threw a bench across the lake in anger, “We have to make her sacrifice worth it.” he said as he faced you.
Steve stood up and said, “Don’t worry, we will.” then you smiled sadly at them.
The war with Thanos was over, earth and the rest of the universe was finally safe once again. As promised by Steve her death didn’t go in vain as well as the deaths of others whom you lost during the war including Tony Stark. Death of some of the members of your supposedly family pained you, but Natasha’s death really shattered your heart into a thousand pieces.
You haven’t been able to grieve or mourn properly because of the war that was going on and the second you got the freedom to do so, you fully grieved.
The first few weeks were the worst, you didn’t feel like doing anything, you even lost your appetite, you would do some daily routines here and there but it was like you were moving like a robot.
The other Avengers were concerned with your coping mechanisms, you would drink bottles of alcohol until you would eventually fall asleep, you would also smoke cigarettes until you would finish a pack or two. They tried to help you with your coping mechanisms but nothing seemed to work, thankfully though when Wanda talked to you, you decided to stop, realizing that it was indeed unhealthy.
Nowadays you are feeling better, all thanks to Wanda and the other Avengers who supported you step by step in stopping your alcohol and cigarette dependency. You wouldn’t drink bottles of alcohol anymore, you only settle for a bottle and as for the cigarettes, you would only now smoke at least two to three sticks. You now even contacted Yelena to help you to set up a gravestone for Natasha to somehow show respect to her name and it was the least you could do for her after she sacrificed herself not only for you but for everyone.
“I miss her.” you said as you were standing in front of Natasha’s gravestone.
You hear Yelena sigh beside you, “I miss her too. I just wish we had more time together, you know?” you nodded in response knowing full well what happened in their past, “All those wasted years in that fucking Red Room.”
“She always talked about you,” You said which made Yelena eye you curiously, “She would always tell me childhood stories of the both of you, she would also tell me about the time when you guys met again back in Budapest.”
Yelena smiled, “She did the same to me, back when she was in Budapest she told me all about you, how you guys met and how you guys fell in love. The details were too cheesy if you ask me, I honestly didn’t expect my sister to be a cheesy person but that just means that she really did love you.” She said to you and it made you smile sadly.
You suddenly remembered the time when you broke up. It was when the Avengers were wanted criminals by the government. You honestly hated every single second of it during those days, it was torturous, you just wanted to be with each other but for the sake of the both of you, you splitted up. Then eventually, you got back together before the war.
Comfortable silence fell on the both of you as you remained standing in front of Natasha’s gravestone, “My offer still stands, Yelena, if you need a place to stay, you can stay at the compound.”
Yelena shook her head, “I don't know if I can stay at the place where the people who live there are sort of responsible for my sister’s death.” Yelena immediately realized what she said and then chimed, “No offense.”
“None taken.” You simply replied.
~~~
The afterlife was peaceful, but it was not a home for Natasha, it never will be without you.
As she was walking around she saw a familiar figure in the distance, “Tony?” she said, which made the man turn to her direction revealing that it was indeed Tony, “Nat?” Tony said and Natasha ran towards him.
Natasha hugged Tony, “Why are you here?” Natasha asked but suddenly realized that Tony died too.
“Did we win?” Natasha asked and Tony nodded in response, Natasha’s eyes then started to sting because of the tears forming in her eyes, “You were supposed to live.” she said with a choked sob.
Tony placed his hand on her shoulder, “It’s okay, we can rest now.” he said and he smiled at her making Natasha smile back.
“I miss them.” Natasha said quietly which made Tony look at her teasingly, “Do you really miss them or only her?”
Natasha chuckled, “Of course I miss them, I just miss Y/n more.”
“Well, what if I told you that you could go back and be with the Avengers and Y/n again?” Tony said, which made Natasha scoff, “That’s ridiculous Tony, we’re dead, we can’t be brought back to life.”
A shine of bright light suddenly appeared in the sky but it slowly got bigger and bigger as if it was about to envelop Natasha, “What’s that?” she asked Tony.
“You’ll see.” Tony simply replied then he smiled at Natasha.
Natasha’s eyes immediately flew open, she sat up and saw that she was laying in a pool of water, she then looked around and realized that she was back in Vormir the place where she died.
She is alive, she has been revived, she can go back to earth and live her life once again.
She thought of how she can get back to earth, but then realized that she can go back the same way they went to Vormir in the first place, she just hopes that they didn’t close the portal yet.
~~~
There was a beeping sound coming from the controls of the portal Sam immediately rushed to the controls, “Clint, we’re getting some signal from Vormir.”
“Really? From who?” Clint asked.
“It’s… wait, there must be some mistake,” Sam’s eyes widened, “The signal’s from Natasha.”
“It could be someone else, open the portal and be prepared to fight.”
“Are we really going to risk this?” Sam asked.
“What other choice do we have? Just stay on your guard and we’ll be fine.”
Sam then proceeded to open the portal and a few moments later someone came out of the portal wearing the Avengers suit and later revealed that it was indeed Natasha.
Clint stood still too in shock to move, “Nat? Is that really you?”
Natasha smiled, “Hi Clint,” she said as she rushed to him and hugged him.
Natasha looked at Sam and said, “Hey Sam.”
“H-hey.” Sam simply said feeling a bit shy around Natasha.
“How are you alive?” Clint asked Natasha and she replied, “It’s a long story but let's just say that I’ve been revived.”
“Y/n’s going to be so happy to see you.” Clint said which made Natasha smile.
You just got back from the cemetery and you immediately heard noises coming from the other side of the compound, you rushed to where the noises came from thinking there was danger but you saw that everyone was there and Wanda was smiling as soon as you entered the room, “What’s all the ruckus about?” you asked Wanda.
Wanda didn’t reply but she looked to the side making you look in the same direction she was looking as well and then you saw the person you thought you would never see again, the love of your life.
“N-Nat, y-you’re alive?” you stammered and Natasha nodded. You ran to her and hugged her tightly, happy tears were now flowing from your face, “I missed you so much.” you muffled as you continued to embrace each other for a while.
“I missed you too, moya lyubov. I love you.” Natasha said and you replied, “I love you too, Natty.” then she kissed you with so much passion and everyone cheered happily seeing the two of you back together again.
Even death can’t separate the two of you, if this is how soulmates are defined then you can definitely say that the one and only Natasha Romanoff is your soulmate.

It’s a small world after all they said and apparently it is. But for you, it wasn’t a good thing because your sister is best friends with your most hated professor and it was certainly making you question what you did to the universe.
“Hi Y/n, it’s so good to see you outside of my class for once.” Natasha said in a happy tone almost as if it’s fake and it was making you roll your eyes in disgust but you stopped yourself from doing so.
You didn’t know what to say so you ended up with simply saying, “Likewise, professor Romanoff.”
“Just call me Natasha, we’re not at school after all.” Natasha said with a smile.
“I didn’t know that she’s your professor. I only knew that Nat was teaching at your university.” Maria said amused.
“Y/n still has Russian Literature which means that yes, she’s in  my class.” Natasha said.
“Guess there’s no need for further introduction then.” your sister said as she went back to the stove to stir the sauce that she was cooking. “Why don’t you put your stuff in your room first so you can help me prepare the table.” she continued. You nodded in response then rushed to your bedroom.
A few minutes later, you went down after you changed into some shorts and an oversized shirt then you helped your sister set the table. You swear that you could feel Natasha’s eyes on you from time to time, as if she’s checking you out.
“So, how’s Y/n in your class?” Maria asked Natasha as the three of you were eating.
Your eyes widened, realizing that she can and will tell your sister about your ‘low’ grades in her class. You took a deep breath and prepared for the worst.
“She’s passing, but her grades aren’t that high, pretty much average.” Natasha bluntly replied before she took another bite of the pasta.
“What?” your sister said which made her look at you with slight fury on her face.
You shrugged and said, “At least I’m passing.” You were not going to argue with Natasha more about your grade today, especially not in front of your sister who happens to be her best friend.
Maria shook her head and said, “I apologize, Russian Literature isn’t really her forte.” She then held Natasha’s hand that was on the table slightly squeezing it.
Natasha waved her hand dismissively and said, “It’s alright, every student has their own strengths and weaknesses.”
Your phone suddenly started ringing, you checked the caller ID and saw that it was Wanda. You thank whoever god is there that she decided to call you and save you from this awkward dinner. “Excuse me for a while, I have to take this,” You stood up from your seat and answered her call.
“Thank goodness you called, you just saved me from a hellhole.” you said to her as you walked out of the kitchen and into the living room area so you were out of earshot from your sister and Natasha.
“Why? What happened?” Wanda asked.
“Remember when I told you that Maria’s best friend was going to visit? Well, guess who’s the best friend?”
“Oh God, don’t tell me it’s someone you slept with.”
“No, it’s even worse-” you were then interrupted by Wanda, “What can be worse than…” she trailed off before saying, “Is it professor Romanoff?” she joked.
You sighed heavily and replied, “It is her.”
“Holy shit.”
“Holy shit indeed.” You then remained silent for a few seconds until you said, “I should probably get going, my sister might be looking for me.”
“Alright, call me back when you can and tell me everything and I mean every single detail.” you rolled your eyes playfully at Wanda’s statement and replied, “Yeah, I will. See you tomorrow Wands, love you.”
“Love you too Y/n! See ya!” Wanda lastly said before she ended the call.
After your chat with Wanda, you went back to the dining area to finish the rest of your pasta.
“Who was that?” Maria asked as you sat down.
“It was Wanda, she just asked me about something.” you lied.
Maria hummed, “I see, I’m surprised you aren’t dating her, she’s very pretty, I don’t know what you’re being picky about.” she teased.
“Oh my God Maria, for the hundredth time, we’re just friends.” you said a bit annoyed.
“Is there some girl then?”
“Are we seriously going to talk about this in front of your guest?” You chimed.
“Oh no it’s fine, I don’t actually mind.” Natasha suddenly said.
“See? Natasha doesn’t mind. So, is there someone?” Maria said as she wiggled her eyebrows at you.
You slightly groaned by your sister’s teasing, “No, there’s no one. Just had a couple of flings here and there recently, but other than that, there’s no one.”
Your relationships were complicated, some of them were flings but most of them were just one night stands. If you would count the total of serious relationships you had it would only be two. You were a player that’s for sure, and your body count was ‘through the roof’ as Wanda would say, but you didn’t mind at all.
Dinner was now over and you bidded goodbye to your professor who you were going to see tomorrow.
“There’s something I’ve been wanting to ask you.” Maria said as she placed the newly cleaned plates on the dry rack.
You suddenly felt nervous, you don’t know why but everytime your sister says that you feel very nervous, “What is it?” You asked as you sat on the bar stool.
“There’s a reason why I wanted you to meet Natasha today,” you see your sister face you making her lean onto the counter, “But, after learning that she’s your professor it meant that you’ve already met her. In a different light I suppose, she tends to act more intimidating when she’s teaching.”
More like annoying and unfair.
“Natasha’s apartment is pretty far from the university, almost a 3 hour drive in fact,” she continued.
You already knew what she was going to say next, she took a deep sigh and asked, “Is it okay with you if she stays with us for the meantime until she finds an apartment nearby?”
And there it was, the bomb had been dropped.
“You could've just said that you’re dating her, it would’ve been easier,” you half-jokingly said as you crossed your arms.
“I’m not dating her Y/n, I’m being serious.”
“Why are you even asking me if it’s alright with me? I mean, this is your house after all.”
“Because you’re my sister, I care about your opinion on this matter. Especially because she’s your professor and I know how awkward living with your professor is,” your sister stated.
You were honestly not liking that idea one bit, but you love your sister and you were also just living with her for free for goodness sake. So, much to your dismay you replied, “It’s alright with me Maria, really, she’s your best friend. I know you’re just helping her like a best friend would.”
Your sister approached you then hugged you, “I love you little sis,” she cooed.
“I love you too big sis,” you replied back with a smile.
~~~
“She’s just going to live with you for a couple of months. What's the worst that could happen?” Wanda said then took a bite from her sandwich.
“Honestly, a lot. I can’t bring anyone home from school, that's one thing. Her telling my sister about my grades, which she already did last night by the way, and a whole lot more.” you replied.
Wanda checked her watch, “Speaking of which, it’s time for Russian Literature,” she said.
You huffed out in annoyance, “I am so not ready to see her after last night.” you said as you stood up from your seat and started walking a little bit slower than normal to professor Romanoff’s classroom.
It was a lot for you to take in, you just found out that your most hated professor is your sister’s best friend and she’s going to live with you until she finds an apartment which you really hope is sooner or later. You couldn’t even bear to see her during class let alone the idea of her living with you.
Once you were by the threshold, your eyes immediately met with the emerald ones of your future roommate. She was at her desk using her laptop, must be preparing for today’s lecture you thought. You stood still for a few seconds and you could honestly feel some weird tension going on between you two. Wanda suddenly cleared her throat behind you making you snap out of your trance.
The lecture went on until the bell rang, but as you stood up, you suddenly heard your professor say, “Miss Hill, a word please.” You rolled your eyes mentally before you approached your professor.
“You go ahead, I’ll meet you at the library,” You said to Wanda and she nodded in response then left the room.
Once the last student left, heavy and unsettling silence surrounded you both. You were standing in front of her desk while she was sitting down with her legs crossed. Her blouse had two or three buttons undone and you were trying your hardest not to stare.
“I’m sure Maria has already told you about me moving into your home.” Natasha said as she leaned back onto her chair.
“Yeah, she has.” you simply replied but then asked, “How long have you known?”
“Excuse me?”
“How long have you known that I was Maria’s sister?” you asked again.
“I knew from the beginning, after our little encounter during the first day your face seemed familiar to me and I remembered that Maria showed me a photo of you before.” Natasha replied.
“And you chose not to say anything?”
“Because I thought Maria already told you about it,” Natasha countered. Natasha stood up and she towered a few inches above you making you feel a bit small and you were having a hard time making eye contact with her.
When you broke contact she immediately used her index finger and thumb to grab your chin, “Look at me when I speak to you.” You could feel yourself melt when she said those words to you. “I’ll be moving in starting tomorrow, I’ll see you then.” She lastly said before letting go of your chin.
You immediately rushed out of the room feeling yourself heat up from the moment.
You just wish that there wouldn’t be more of those when she moves in.
Your grades were out today and you were nervous, especially for your grade in Russian Literature 2. You checked your card and you got a 2.0 to a 1.0 for your subjects which was no surprise to you at all but when your eyes landed at your grade for Russian Literature 2 you felt your anger slightly rise, it was 2.75 and it was also your lowest grade.
“What the hell? I did everything and this is the grade that I got?!” you exclaimed in anger.
“Let me check mine,” Wanda said, then she checked her card and you saw that her grades ranged to 2.0 until even a 1.0, your eyes widened at her grade in Russian Literature 2, it was 1.5.
“What the fuck? I knew it, she hates my guts for no goddamn reason. This is just unfair.” you groaned in annoyance then slumped onto your chair.
“Are you really sure you didn’t do anything to make her hate you?” Wanda asked.
You shook your head and said, “None that I can think of.” Wanda then raised a brow at you, “Remember the time when you wanted to drop out of her class during the first day? Also the little stunt you pulled during her class?” she asked you.
“What stunt? I just fell asleep in her class, that’s it.”
“Well yeah, but still, it pretty much pissed her off even more.” Wanda said and you rolled your eyes in response, “But after that day she has been attacking me non-stop during her class even though I didn’t do anything wrong.”
“Probably because you left a very bad impression on her.” Wanda replied.
“There must be some mistake, do we seriously have Russian Literature 2 as an extra co-curricular?” you immediately said as you received your schedule for the second semester.
“I heard that we have a new Russian Literature teacher though.” Wanda said.
“Please, what’s only going to make me happy about that class is when I get to drop out of it.”
“Oh come on, Russian Literature isn’t even that bad.”
“Yeah right, says the person who gets a surprising grade of 1.25 from that class.” you said sarcastically, “I’m seriously going to drop out, I’ve had enough of this subject.” you continued then started walking towards your Russian Literature professor’s office.
You slammed the door open then immediately approached the professor and said, “I’d like to drop out.” The woman sitting in front of you was busying herself on her laptop, her green eyes left the screen when you spoke.
You made eye contact with the woman and you were immediately taken aback by her beauty. You never really thought that she could be attractive, her aura was screaming dominance and it was making you feel a bit small.
She raised an eyebrow at you and said, “What makes you think I’ll allow that?”
“You will, because I already took this subject last semester-” the professor in front of you interrupted you, “I believe that you’re going to take Russian Literature 2 this semester correct?” She asked and you lightly nodded in response, “Well then Miss… whoever you are, if you do drop out this semester you will automatically fail and you’re going to be required to take this subject for your third semester, so whether you like it or not you’re required to take this subject. I’ll see you later in my class.” she concluded.
You wanted to say something or at least anything at this point but your mouth didn’t want to move at all, you just turned around and slammed the door shut behind you.
“So, what happened?” Wanda asked.
You huffed out in annoyance, “She said if I do drop out I’ll fail and be required to take the subject in my third semester.”
“Told you it wasn’t going to work. I did hear from the others though that Miss Romanoff is pretty strict and intimidating so you definitely just ruined your chances of having a high grade for that class.” Wanda said and it made your brows furrow together.
It was time for your Russian Literature 2 class and you immediately tensed up when your professor spoke, “Good afternoon class, I am professor Romanoff and I will be your new Russian Literature teacher.” she said with confidence.
“You didn’t tell me that she was hot.” Wanda whispered to you.
“Seriously Wanda? You’re already ogling on our new teacher?”
“Says the one who’s into redheads.” then Wanda nudged your shoulder, “I know she’s definitely your type.” she teased.
“Wanda, she’s literally the teacher who didn’t allow me to drop out of this fucking class.”
“And most of all, I won’t tolerate any unnecessary noises while I’m talking.” you suddenly heard your professor which made you stop talking to Wanda. “Is that clear for the two ladies at the back?” she continued, “I know that one of you is not interested in this class so you are free to leave and not attend my classes but be sure to comply with all your activities.” then every single one of your classmates looked at the both of you. You bowed your head in humiliation but it was definitely pissing you off even more.
A few moments later you pushed your chair back and got up, “That’s it, I’m going to talk to her, I’d already have enough of her bullshit this quarter.” you then walked out of the library and went straight to her office.
You were back in here again, the place where you first met your most hated professor who is undeniably gorgeous even for you, but all you felt for the woman right now was hate, after all the unnecessary humiliations you received from her throughout the quarter.
You opened the door and were immediately greeted by the scent of lavender perfume, you stood in front of her desk and said, “I’d like to talk about my grade.” you directly said to her.
“And what about it, Miss Hill?” she asked.
“I’d like to know why and how my grade became a 2.75 when I submitted and passed every single assignment.”
You swear you saw her smirk to herself before she said, “You did submit your assignments on time, but most of your answers were wrong in one of those and you failed almost every quiz and you even failed your midterm exam.”
It made you stand still, you knew that you failed some of her quizzes but you were pretty sure that you passed the midterm exam and most of her assignments.
“If that’s all you need to know why you have the grade that you have, I suggest you leave,” your professor said then she stood up and grabbed your chin with her thumb and pointer finger making you look directly at her green eyes, “I’ll see you tomorrow in class.”
You immediately walked out of her office all hot and flustered, you took a deep breath and then grabbed your phone from your pocket to text Wanda that you were going home.
~~~
“Hey, I’m home.” you said as you entered the home that you live in with your sister, Maria.
As you were placing your jacket on the coat hanger you noticed that there was someone else’s jacket, it wasn’t your sister’s that’s for sure. Then, it suddenly hit you, Maria said that her best friend was going to visit today and you had totally forgotten about it, making you mentally slap yourself.
You haven’t really met your sister’s best friend, she would sometimes tell you tiny bits about her best friend but other than that, you really don’t know her, not even her face, you only know that her name is Natasha, and the name just reminds you of that professor of yours.
Due to the fact that your parents had separated and you used to stay with your father in England while Maria stayed with your mother. When you told Maria that you were going to study college in America, she was thrilled, she even offered for you to move in with her and you happily accepted.
“I’m in the kitchen!” you hear your sister yell, she’s probably cooking something you thought.
You walked to the kitchen and saw that your sister was cooking what seems to be some pasta. She looked behind her and greeted you, “Hey sis,” then you approached her and hugged her.
“I’d like you to finally meet my best friend, Natasha.” your sister said as she gestured to the bar counter and you were immediately met with a very familiar fiery red hair also the very recognized emerald green orbs. Your eyes widened in shock after seeing who your sister’s best friend was.
Her best friend was your goddamn Russian Literature professor.

“I missed you.” Wanda said to Natasha after they broke the kiss, “You’ve been so busy these past few days, we don’t even get to go out anymore.”
“Yeah well, the company won’t run itself you know?” Natasha said as she sat back down and started to work on her computer once again, leaving Wanda standing beside her.
“You should take a break from work baby, you might overwork yourself.”
Natasha sighed deeply, they just made up this morning after fighting for what seems to be the third time this week but she really is busy, “I can’t, I still have a lot of things to do.”
“I know that you’re busy, you always are, but can we please just go out for lunch or something?” Wanda asked her wife.
“I’m really sorry Wanda, but I really can’t.” Natasha replied which made Wanda huff out in annoyance, “You know what, fine. I’ve always been your second priority after all.” Wanda lastly said as she walked out of Natasha’s office and slammed the door shut. Natasha groaned and pinched the bridge of her nose trying to keep her composure.
You were working on your desk when you suddenly saw your boss’ wife walking very quickly out of the room with a look that seemed to be like she’s angry but she was also about to cry. You sighed, realizing that they probably fought again, it wasn’t new to you though, almost everytime when Wanda would visit they would end up fighting.
Your phone suddenly rang making you snap out of your deep thoughts, you looked at the caller ID and saw that it was your cousin Meg who was calling, “Hey Y/N! Wanna go to the bar later?” Meg immediately said when you picked up the phone.
“Don’t you have final exams to study for?” You asked.
“Yeah but I just finished studying for all of them and I decided that I could go for a drink before taking my exams you know?”
You went silent for a few moments. You thought that you could use a drink or two, since it’s been a while since you last had one. You could also use a distraction from your attraction towards your married boss by flirting with other girls at the bar, “Alright, sure, I’d love to.” you replied which made Meg squeal in joy, “Great! I’ll see you later.” she said then she ended the call.
~~~
“Hey Meg!” you greeted as you saw your cousin rushing up to you and then hugging you.
“Hi Y/n, ready to get wasted?” Meg said as she wiggled her eyebrows at you.
“Hell yeah, but not so much, I have to go to work tomorrow since you won’t be able to.” You said.
Meg rolled her eyes and said, “You’re such a workaholic, can’t you at least have some fun tonight?”
You sighed in defeat, “Fine, just don’t get too wasted, I'm not going to drag your ass back to your apartment.” you replied then Meg smiled at you, “Alright, let’s go.”
A few moments later, you and Meg were hanging out by the bar since Meg thought that the bartender was kind of cute. The three of you continued to chat until you saw a familiar figure across the bar, red hair that was curled at the end (think of her hair in Civil War) plump lips, sharp yet somehow round jawline- oh no, it couldn’t be her right? You shook your head and looked at the same redhead who was now looking at you, you held eye contact for a good 5 seconds until you immediately looked away.
It was definitely her.
You would steal a few glances every now and then and when you do, your eyes would meet hers everytime, like her eyes never leave your body even just for a second. It made you feel uneasy since she is your boss and you’re seeing her outside of work, but at the same time, it turned you on.
“Do you know her?” her sister, Yelena asked as they were sitting at a soft chair while drinking some beer and champagne.
Natasha asked her sister out to have a drink with her because she just wanted to loosen up a little from all the stress that she was having from her work and her broken marriage but also the feelings that she has for you that are buried deep down within her.
Natasha drank from her glass, “W-what? Who?” she asked.
“That chick over there by the bar, you have been staring at her for a good few minutes.”
“N-no, I just thought she looked like someone I know.” Natasha lied to hopefully stop the topic at that.
“Shame, cause if you did I would ask you to introduce me to her.” Yelena said which made Natasha grip her wine glass a bit tighter, feeling her jealousy starting to rise.
Yelena cleared her throat after she finished her bottle of beer, “So, marriage problems again?” she asked and Natasha nodded in response then replied, “We have been fighting constantly these past few weeks.”
“About what?” Yelena asked again.
Natasha leaned back to her seat and sighed, “It’s just always been two things, it’s either we fight about how we don’t spend time together anymore or she accuses me of having an affair.”
Yelena hummed in response, “But do you?” she asked hesitantly.
Natasha raised a brow at her sister, “Do I what?”
“Have an affair.” Yelena simply replied.
Natasha scoffed, “Of course not, Lena. I’m loyal to my wife through the ups and downs of our relationship and I love her.” She hesitantly said the last part because of her growing feelings for you.
“Hey, care for a drink?” You suddenly heard a woman speak as you were busy scrolling through your phone. You made eye contact with the woman then looked at her from head to toe, she had brunette colored hair that was until her shoulders, brown eyes and a slender figure, she’s gorgeous but not as gorgeous as your boss- No, you shouldn’t be thinking of her right now, think of the woman in front of you. You shook your head trying to clear your thoughts of the redheaded woman.
“Sure.” you replied to her then the woman ordered two shots of vodka, she handed you a shot glass then you clinked your shot glasses together and drank it.
“I’m Maria by the way, just in case you might scream it later.” she said with a wink.
“Oh, I wouldn’t be so sure about that,” You flirted back, “The name’s Y/n by the way since it might be you who will be screaming later.” You said to her with a smirk on your face. You honestly don’t know where your boldness came from but it could be from the alcohol.
Maria started caressing your thigh and said, “How about we test that theory now? I live nearby.” her lips were now close to your ear, “You might want to take care of your friend first, I’ll wait for you outside.” she lastly said then started to walk out of the club.
Once Maria was out of sight, your eyes immediately searched for the redheaded woman but she was nowhere in sight, she must’ve headed home since there was work the next morning.
You faced Meg who looks a bit tipsy but not drunk she’s still busy flirting with the bartender so you nudged her arm making her look at you. “Hey, I gotta go, someone’s waiting for me.“ you said to her in a bit of a hurry.
“Okay then, I’ll be staying here for a while longer.” Meg replied
“I should call you a cab-” The bartender suddenly chimed in, “Don’t worry about her, I can drive her home.”
As much as you wanted to trust the guy, your trust issues kicked in, “Why should I trust you?” You ask him.
“You can trust me ma’am, in fact, I can give you my calling card if that’s what it takes for you to trust me.” The bartender replied then he handed you his calling card, “Sam Wilson, bodyguard and a part-time bartender.” you read out loud.
You eyed him head to toe, he does seem like a bodyguard because of his bodybuild and you just hope to God that he’s saying the truth, “Alright, Sam I trust you, not fully but you get the point. If something happens to my cousin you’re dead to me, got it?” you said to him threateningly.
“Yes ma’am,” Sam simply replied, then you nodded and walked out of the club.
“Took you long enough.” Maria said to you the moment she saw you step out of the club, she was lightly seated on a black motorcycle which is probably hers
“Sorry about that,” you said to her but then you felt eyes on you, it gave you chills but you ignored it.
Maria got onto her motorcycle then you followed suit, sitting behind her. Your arms were wrapped around her waist and speeded off.
Little did you know, a certain redhead saw the whole scene unfold in front of her. Even back at the club when the woman approached you and got all flirty with you, she hated seeing it, it made her jealousy boil. But what made her jealous even more was when she saw you leave with the same woman who approached you at the bar.
Natasha has to make her move sooner or later if she wants to claim you and she’s going to do whatever it takes for her to fully have you.
contains: mentions of death, alcohol use, and smoking. painful angst but with a happy ending.
You tripped Natasha using your explosive arrows, making her roll to the side and making it your opportunity to run off the cliff. You maintained eye contact with her as you ran, but once you jumped you felt her grab you from behind and she activated her grappling hook.
You held your girlfriend’s wrist as she continued to shake your hand to make you let go of her. “Let me go.” Natasha whispered softly as she looked at you with her emerald eyes.
“No please, don’t leave me.” You said as tears started to form in your eyes.
“It’s okay, I love you Y/N.” Natasha then proceeded to push herself off, making her swing a bit and making you fully lose your grip on her wrist.
You saw every second of her falling to her death, you closed your eyes for a moment and when you opened them once again you saw a glimpse of her lifeless body on the very bottom of the cliff of Vormir, you saw that there was a pool of her own blood surrounding her head. Thunder suddenly roared and lightning began to appear and you became unconscious.
Your eyes snapped open and you immediately sat up, you saw that you were laying on water but then you felt something in your hand, you checked your hand and saw that you finally have the soul stone, but it took a life before you could get it.
Your eyes welled up once more, “Natasha!!” you yelled, releasing all of your sadness and anger during that moment. Your tears streamed down and you cried loudly, grieving the death of your partner in crime, your best friend and the love of your life. She was gone, forever.
“Does she have any family?” Tony asked and the truth is, you didn’t know if she really had any family or not, all you know was that she once had a fake family back then because of a 3 year mission for the Red Room. She would mention her somewhat ‘sister’ Yelena from time to time to you or Clint, but other than that you really have no clue.
Natasha wanted her sister to be kept a secret from the others for her sister’s safety. In respect to her wishes, you just shook your head in response but thankfully Steve suddenly said, “Yeah, us.”
“As long as we have the stones we can bring her back, right?” Thor said as he paced around the small dock by the lake where you were with the other Avengers.
“It can’t be undone, it can’t, at least that’s what the red floating guy said.” You said in a raised tone then you sighed deeply, “She sacrificed herself for the stone and there is no way we can bring her back.” tears started to sting your eyes once again after saying those words.
Bruce threw a bench across the lake in anger, “We have to make her sacrifice worth it.” he said as he faced you.
Steve stood up and said, “Don’t worry, we will.” then you smiled sadly at them.
The war with Thanos was over, earth and the rest of the universe was finally safe once again. As promised by Steve her death didn’t go in vain as well as the deaths of others whom you lost during the war including Tony Stark. Death of some of the members of your supposedly family pained you, but Natasha’s death really shattered your heart into a thousand pieces.
You haven’t been able to grieve or mourn properly because of the war that was going on and the second you got the freedom to do so, you fully grieved.
The first few weeks were the worst, you didn’t feel like doing anything, you even lost your appetite, you would do some daily routines here and there but it was like you were moving like a robot.
The other Avengers were concerned with your coping mechanisms, you would drink bottles of alcohol until you would eventually fall asleep, you would also smoke cigarettes until you would finish a pack or two. They tried to help you with your coping mechanisms but nothing seemed to work, thankfully though when Wanda talked to you, you decided to stop, realizing that it was indeed unhealthy.
Nowadays you are feeling better, all thanks to Wanda and the other Avengers who supported you step by step in stopping your alcohol and cigarette dependency. You wouldn’t drink bottles of alcohol anymore, you only settle for a bottle and as for the cigarettes, you would only now smoke at least two to three sticks. You now even contacted Yelena to help you to set up a gravestone for Natasha to somehow show respect to her name and it was the least you could do for her after she sacrificed herself not only for you but for everyone.
“I miss her.” you said as you were standing in front of Natasha’s gravestone.
You hear Yelena sigh beside you, “I miss her too. I just wish we had more time together, you know?” you nodded in response knowing full well what happened in their past, “All those wasted years in that fucking Red Room.”
“She always talked about you,” You said which made Yelena eye you curiously, “She would always tell me childhood stories of the both of you, she would also tell me about the time when you guys met again back in Budapest.”
Yelena smiled, “She did the same to me, back when she was in Budapest she told me all about you, how you guys met and how you guys fell in love. The details were too cheesy if you ask me, I honestly didn’t expect my sister to be a cheesy person but that just means that she really did love you.” She said to you and it made you smile sadly.
You suddenly remembered the time when you broke up. It was when the Avengers were wanted criminals by the government. You honestly hated every single second of it during those days, it was torturous, you just wanted to be with each other but for the sake of the both of you, you splitted up. Then eventually, you got back together before the war.
Comfortable silence fell on the both of you as you remained standing in front of Natasha’s gravestone, “My offer still stands, Yelena, if you need a place to stay, you can stay at the compound.”
Yelena shook her head, “I don't know if I can stay at the place where the people who live there are sort of responsible for my sister’s death.” Yelena immediately realized what she said and then chimed, “No offense.”
“None taken.” You simply replied.
~~~
The afterlife was peaceful, but it was not a home for Natasha, it never will be without you.
As she was walking around she saw a familiar figure in the distance, “Tony?” she said, which made the man turn to her direction revealing that it was indeed Tony, “Nat?” Tony said and Natasha ran towards him.
Natasha hugged Tony, “Why are you here?” Natasha asked but suddenly realized that Tony died too.
“Did we win?” Natasha asked and Tony nodded in response, Natasha’s eyes then started to sting because of the tears forming in her eyes, “You were supposed to live.” she said with a choked sob.
Tony placed his hand on her shoulder, “It’s okay, we can rest now.” he said and he smiled at her making Natasha smile back.
“I miss them.” Natasha said quietly which made Tony look at her teasingly, “Do you really miss them or only her?”
Natasha chuckled, “Of course I miss them, I just miss Y/n more.”
“Well, what if I told you that you could go back and be with the Avengers and Y/n again?” Tony said, which made Natasha scoff, “That’s ridiculous Tony, we’re dead, we can’t be brought back to life.”
A shine of bright light suddenly appeared in the sky but it slowly got bigger and bigger as if it was about to envelop Natasha, “What’s that?” she asked Tony.
“You’ll see.” Tony simply replied then he smiled at Natasha.
Natasha’s eyes immediately flew open, she sat up and saw that she was laying in a pool of water, she then looked around and realized that she was back in Vormir the place where she died.
She is alive, she has been revived, she can go back to earth and live her life once again.
She thought of how she can get back to earth, but then realized that she can go back the same way they went to Vormir in the first place, she just hopes that they didn’t close the portal yet.
~~~
There was a beeping sound coming from the controls of the portal Sam immediately rushed to the controls, “Clint, we’re getting some signal from Vormir.”
“Really? From who?” Clint asked.
“It’s… wait, there must be some mistake,” Sam’s eyes widened, “The signal’s from Natasha.”
“It could be someone else, open the portal and be prepared to fight.”
“Are we really going to risk this?” Sam asked.
“What other choice do we have? Just stay on your guard and we’ll be fine.”
Sam then proceeded to open the portal and a few moments later someone came out of the portal wearing the Avengers suit and later revealed that it was indeed Natasha.
Clint stood still too in shock to move, “Nat? Is that really you?”
Natasha smiled, “Hi Clint,” she said as she rushed to him and hugged him.
Natasha looked at Sam and said, “Hey Sam.”
“H-hey.” Sam simply said feeling a bit shy around Natasha.
“How are you alive?” Clint asked Natasha and she replied, “It’s a long story but let's just say that I’ve been revived.”
“Y/n’s going to be so happy to see you.” Clint said which made Natasha smile.
You just got back from the cemetery and you immediately heard noises coming from the other side of the compound, you rushed to where the noises came from thinking there was danger but you saw that everyone was there and Wanda was smiling as soon as you entered the room, “What’s all the ruckus about?” you asked Wanda.
Wanda didn’t reply but she looked to the side making you look in the same direction she was looking as well and then you saw the person you thought you would never see again, the love of your life.
“N-Nat, y-you’re alive?” you stammered and Natasha nodded. You ran to her and hugged her tightly, happy tears were now flowing from your face, “I missed you so much.” you muffled as you continued to embrace each other for a while.
“I missed you too, moya lyubov. I love you.” Natasha said and you replied, “I love you too, Natty.” then she kissed you with so much passion and everyone cheered happily seeing the two of you back together again.
Even death can’t separate the two of you, if this is how soulmates are defined then you can definitely say that the one and only Natasha Romanoff is your soulmate.
Yelena shook her head, “I don't know if I can stay at the place where the people who live there are sort of responsible for my sister’s death.” Yelena immediately realized what she said and then chimed, “No offense.”
“None taken.” You simply replied.
~~~
~~~
There was a beeping sound coming from the controls of the portal Sam immediately rushed to the controls, “Clint, we’re getting some signal from Vormir.”
“Really? From who?” Clint asked.
“It’s… wait, there must be some mistake,” Sam’s eyes widened, “The signal’s from Natasha.”
“It could be someone else, open the portal and be prepared to fight.”
“Are we really going to risk this?” Sam asked.
“What other choice do we have? Just stay on your guard and we’ll be fine.”
Sam then proceeded to open the portal and a few moments later someone came out of the portal wearing the Avengers suit and later revealed that it was indeed Natasha.
Clint stood still too in shock to move, “Nat? Is that really you?”
Natasha smiled, “Hi Clint,” she said as she rushed to him and hugged him.
Natasha looked at Sam and said, “Hey Sam.”
“H-hey.” Sam simply said feeling a bit shy around Natasha.
“How are you alive?” Clint asked Natasha and she replied, “It’s a long story but let's just say that I’ve been revived.”
“Y/n’s going to be so happy to see you.” Clint said which made Natasha smile.
You just got back from the cemetery and you immediately heard noises coming from the other side of the compound, you rushed to where the noises came from thinking there was danger but you saw that everyone was there and Wanda was smiling as soon as you entered the room, “What’s all the ruckus about?” you asked Wanda.
Wanda didn’t reply but she looked to the side making you look in the same direction she was looking as well and then you saw the person you thought you would never see again, the love of your life.
“N-Nat, y-you’re alive?” you stammered and Natasha nodded. You ran to her and hugged her tightly, happy tears were now flowing from your face, “I missed you so much.” you muffled as you continued to embrace each other for a while.
“I missed you too, moya lyubov. I love you.” Natasha said and you replied, “I love you too, Natty.” then she kissed you with so much passion and everyone cheered happily seeing the two of you back together again.
Even death can’t separate the two of you, if this is how soulmates are defined then you can definitely say that the one and only Natasha Romanoff is your soulmate.
