My spicy take after watching Kpop Demon Hunters for the third time is: it should’ve been a TV show, with a movie finale like ROTTMNT.
Before you get out the pitchforks hear me out! KDH was good, really good visually and musically, and it set up some really interesting story points, but it had no time to explore them. The trailers made it out like the Huntrix vs. Saja Boys thing was gonna be such a big deal but the actual rivalry shennagins were barely a footnote. Imagine a whole episode dedicated to just one variety show competition? Giving the rest of the Saja Boys actual personailities?? More fan events and showing the push and pull on social media and how it effects the Honmoon? The girls actually struggling with maintainingn all their social events while fighting the increasing number of demons, bc if their popularity slips there’ll be even more demons! Getting to see Huntrix actually perform bc funnily enough we got more choreo from the Saja Boys. Maybe a flashback episode to how Huntrix got formed? More backstory for Zoey and Mira. BACKSTORY ON RUMI’S PARENTS. Anything on Celine and past huntresses bc there has to be more right? Unless they all died there should be several trios still around but retired bc idol life is relatively short lived. Hell, depending on Huntrix’s ages there might even be a preteen group in progress getting ready to take over. What the hell kind of dynamic must that be like? Actual time to develop Jinu & Rumi!!!
And then boom: big movie finale with the Idol Awards. Imagine how much tragic that finale would be if we actually knew these characters??? Anyway thanks for coming to my TED talk, fanfic writers chop chop
#kpop demon hunters#hot take it shouldve been a tv show#the potential this movie had!!!#gonna let this simmer and see if im motivated enough to try and worldbuild this and actually write it

I’ve been watching Danny Phantom and I get it. I get it now.
This show loves to make some offhanded comment, not a hint of consideration or concern in its tone, and just moves on without addressing it like that wasn’t the most creatively horrific concept this side of Nickelodeon. Shit makes up wackass lore on the spot and then disregards it immediately after, asks fascinating questions then looks at you funny when you try to answer them.
I now fully understand how this show has legions of fans dedicated to taking this somewhat mid cartoon and running so far with the implications of the premise they created an entirely different show that’s so much more interesting I’m upset it’s not real.

So apparently some people new to Tumblr think a repost and a reblog are the same thing, so when they see creators asking for people to not repost, they're thinking the creators are saying to not reblog 😭
Y'all, a repost is when you copy/download the work and create a new post using the work making it seem as if it's yours. A reblog is you using a site provided feature to share the creator's post directly from the creator so that it's still credited to them and they still get all of the traction/notes from the work.
Please, reblog fics/art/etc. that you enjoy! Reblogging is not reposting! Creatives need support too, and reblogging is a way to do that!

some highlights from the reblogs, because the post is popping off for some reason?? are you guys reading the Odyssey in school or something or is this becasse of the recent Epic the Musical update?
I find it incredibly funny from a meta/author perspective, that Ancient Greece decided to name their protagonist that angers many people “Anger Bringer” but, even funnier, is the in universe understating that anyone who meets Odysseus must have had the thought “oh dear, how unfortunate to be named hateful/hated” and then they have exactly One conversation with him and go “Ah I see now”
For reference, Odysseus’ name sounds very much like the Greek word odussomai, which can roughly mean “I am angry at” or “I am the cause of anger” (or simply “to hate” or “to dismiss”), a fact that is used for ironic effect frequently in the Odyssey.
It’s also specifically stated in Book 19 that Odysseus’ grandfather, a master thief and one who has also pissed off a lot of people, specifically named him this because “I am disliked by many, all across the world, and I dislike them back. So name the child Odysseus.” 19.428
Bro looked at his grandson and thought “Ahaha, this one’s going to be a troublemaker like me. Better get him started early.”
It’s like a terrible allegory for cause and effect or something.

Little Iliad Pre-Order!
This pre-order will last three weeks and end on the 28th! I do not have the stocks as I will order them in bulk after the pre-order finishes, so they should start shipping out in November if my estimate is correct.
There are seven designs in total, I might add some more in the future if I do another run :D Apologies in advance for the picture quality, I only have my phone camera and it isn't the best haha. Hope you like them!

for this course I’m teaching I selected both Iliad 24 and Odyssey 22 and it wasn’t planned but there’s something about the contrast that is really striking - I think the Odyssey is often seen as a softer and more accessible epic than the Iliad, but on this reread I’m struck by how Iliad 24 is Homeric epic at its most empathetic, and Odyssey 22 is Homeric epic at its most coldly, jarringly brutal. and there’s something to be said the way that the poem about rage ends with an act of profound and complicated humanity, while the poem about a complicated man (nearly) ends with an act of profound rage
#the iliad#the odyssey#ohoho thats some delicious analysis#i need to go ponder this in the rain for a fee hours brb#something something achilles rage and then emptiness vs odysseus mercy and then ruthlessness#idk ill revist this when i actually finish the iliad

A very nice commentor noted that my previous video was very, very large and breaking it up into chunks might be less intimidating and also you could dodge around spoilers and still get most of the experience so here’s part one of my massive tribute to the Tales of Arcadia series! I’m working on setting up a playlist for all of them so stay tuned!
