He sometimes finds the shop unruly, the sign that something had happened. You had clearly had some kind of ordeal.

Asra sighed. This could mean only one thing. You weren’t in the shop and the door was slightly ajar, you had gone out. There was only one place you went when the thoughts in your head got like this. A place to empty your mind and feel grounded. At peace. Connected to the world again.

Locking the door behind him, he flipped the sign to closed and made his way through town. People gave him polite nods, others sneered. They were used to it by now. Running a magic shop will make people have mixed reactions toward you.

“Following a lost sheep, Asra?”

Shaking his head, the docker let out a soft guffaw.

Asra answered by dropping a shiny gemstone in his hand. They marvelled at it before grabbing the oars and driving the two over the water. Asra didn’t want to look ahead, they simply played with the water and left little trails of sparkling white with their fingers as they moved.

The sound of the boat hitting the sand of the island caught Asra’s attention. The sickly red particles of the beach, and the thorny branches covering the once imposing building in the middle.

This was how the two of you spent some nights. It was hard for him. This place held bad memories. He had screamed and cried for you here. Smelt your burning ashes and felt the acceptance of your fate within your aura. But for you? You felt grounded here. This was where your true body’s ashes lay. Your soul was tied to here. And that gave some peace to your soul, especially on days when the rest of the world seemed to scream and push you to your very limit.

When the noise of life became too much, the lazaret was the silence you needed. No hustle and bustle. No chatter or nearby people. Just pure, uninterrupted silence. And with your lover by your side, basking in each other’s warm aura, it felt like the most peaceful place on earth.

Your emotions weren’t allowing you to speak so you let out a small noise of acknowledgment and thanks, before snuggling slightly further into him. This was the most peaceful you had ever felt.
