Take a deep breath. Relax your jaw. I see you trying so hard to break out of it, but you can't force it. You'll get Unstuck eventually. All you can do in the interim is be kind to yourself.

a non-exhaustive list of details about the broadway production of assassins that i only noticed recently:

after the balladeer burns a page out of booth's journal and tosses it on the ground, squeaky picks it up and reads it during the following scene

the shooting target silhouette banners for each assassin have the number of their president on them

moore is waving a tiny american flag during another national anthem 😭

the balladeer starts the show wearing a jacket but has it off by the ballad of czolgosz, almost like he's already slowly turning into oswald

after squeaky cuts her forehead during unworthy of your love, she appears with the scar on her face for the rest of the show

during the "what does a man do" speech czolgosz is changing the bandages on his hands and looking at the burns

seriously though nothing can stop me from interpreting Real Life as canon just for how it progresses the canary curse situation. i'm obsessed with it. the curse gets broken in secret life and then in the very next "series", as much of a joke as it is, you get a situation like THAT. jimmy enters a mineshaft and everyone but him dies. not just his team, though obviously it's more significant because they were all red, but ren/martyn/skizz all get a mineshaft-death apiece. that canary's not doing his job anymore. he escaped his cage and made a break for the surface and everyone else is paying the price for it, and i for one could not be more proud of that little bird.

havent drawn the man himself in a while, happy belated birthday (even if this has nothing to do with birthdays)

on the one hand, sometimes i wish that belos wasn't a character in a children's cartoon, so his story could've been explored deeper without getting censored or toned down. on the other hand, I think perhaps part of the fun that I get from his character comes EXACTLY from the fact that THIS absolute horror of a man is somehow a character in a cartoon for KIDS.

like. you have this pretty basic fantasy show formula. girl gets stuck in the magical world, gets powers, a found family, a girlfriend, there's school shenanigans and sports episodes, and all of these you know typical disney cartoon stuff. and then they're like. so there's THIS GUY. he murdered his brother in cold blood over the fact that he dared to have a life beyond their relationships, desecrated his grave, stole his body and then proceeded to, for 300 years straight, casually dissect and dismember him to create children out of his bones, the children that he delusionally believes to be the same person as his brother, but not like the real brother — this one he doesn't want — but the idealized version of his brother that won't have any life beyond him, the version that only ever existed in his head, and so when these children grow up and develop a life of their own, he, again, sees it as a betrayal, and so he murders them and tries again and again and again in hope that someday he will succeed and his ideal nonexistent brother will return and they will go home together and everything will be exactly how it was and how it's supposed to be, all the while the numbers of dead children in his basement grows. and it's like. girl what the FUCK
