Lets only hope...
Christine:
Whats going down...
Okay so yes, I know, its been quite some time since I've posted anything. Life gets in the way. its common especially if we have working schedules or crazy families. So just to give you a heads up where things are with me since we decided to start this interesting blog. I have fluctuated a lot. highest being 141 and dropping back down to 136 and going up and down. I do realize it could be bloating cause I'm drinking more water, but with excersize added in, it could be a number of things. So starting monday Ms. Meredith and myself are gonna be going to the gym 3x a week together and then I'll be keeping up with the kickboxing for an hour Tues & Thurs.
The Diet...
So recently my boyfriend Andrew experimented with what is called "The fruit and veggie cleanse" basically you only eat veggies and fruit and water for 10 days straight. It basically flushes all the nasty toxins that are left in your body, along with having rapid weight loss changes. In his experience he ended up loosing a total of 8lbs.
So what I've decided was I'm not only gonna give this diet trend a shot but I will also be trying the nektar juicing 3-day plan so that I can flush all the bad shit thats left in my colon (sorry for the TMI) haha.
The reason...
So to not only motivate me more but to challenge me, My man has decided to bribe me with a mystery gift but the catch is I have to reach my  goal weight which is 125lbs by September 6. The working out part wont be difficult but the dieting is a HUGE obstacle for me. I LOVE FOOD, especially bread, so lets pray this cleanse teaches me to not over indulge. Well the best part is I wont be a alone Andrew's mom decided to do the challenge with me. So at least I wont be by myself in this miserable period :P

Wilma: So as you may notice I haven't been on in a while, it's very hard to make time to write when a million things are happening around me! But I have been very consistent on my diet with a few slips here and there buy always bring myself back on track! TODAY IS A BIG DAY!! I'm gonna go to a Pilates/yoga class if I like it I will keep going every Monday! Wish me luck because as you all know I'm not big on exercising but since all of you are pushing the envelope and making commitments I have to do it to so this is me trying!

-5
Meredith: I have officially lost 5lbs. I'm always so nervous to weigh in since my goal is to loose the most amount of weight out of the group. My doctors need me to get down to 137 lbs to be considered healthy. I started out at about 180 and am down to 174.6. I have begun replacing my normal frothy, sugar filled starbucks drink with lighter starbucks options. I replacing milk with soy, asking for less pumps of sugar etc. On Wednesday starbucks began serving orange spiced ice coffee. It has so few calories and tastes so good. Did starbucks hear that I am dieting?

Birthday
Christine:
So friday was my birthday, and I already knew that the weekend would go to shit because of all the desserts and drinks, but the best part was everybody got me fitness stuff! I even got a Nutribullet and Fitbit from my man. lots of work outfits from my parents and a dick's sporting goods gift card from my gym buddy Gleason. So now I REALLY don't have any excuses to not work out. The Nutribullet I'm super stoked for cause I really wanted to get in the habit of eating less and eating right. Plus I'll finally be able to use my yummy protein powder I got from whole foods :D Well hope you guys had a fun weekend like I did and remember STAY FOCUSED! STAY MOTIVATED! and most of JUST HAVE FUN! :D
P.S. Gonna be making up the Vegas Trip loss challenge guidelines and contracts this week so ladies be sure you know what goals you want to accomplish and any feedback or ideas you want to add please let me know! LETS GET SEXY! :D

Fat
Meredith: I think I am going to give up red meat. Why? Well during the last week of babysitting I have made 3 red meat dishes for the kids. Day 1: I made hamburgers for the kids from fresh ground beef. I was amazed at how much fat was in the pans while I was cooking them. So I set the patties on a cookie drying rack so that the fat could drip off it. There was so much. Little volcanos of grease formed under the patties. Disgusting. I figured the ground beef must not have been lean and that is why there was so much fat so when I went to the grocery store next I got the leanest ground beef I could find. Day 2: (these days are not all in a row, I'm feeding the kids a variety of dinners) I made wannabe tostadas with ground beef. All I did was look one lb in the pan and it looked like I had poured a whole bottle of vegetable oil over it. I laid the cooked ground beef over several layers of paper towels and it was still soaking in grease. How have I been eating this pile of grossness all these years?! Is this what my hamburgers look like at the restaurants before I see them? I had honestly never cooked ground beef like that before. I always use ground turkey. It must be only ground beef that has this nasty grease problem. Day 3: tonight I made steak for the kids (per request of one of the kids). Frankly I'm a fan of filet minon, but I looked bone in steaks and again they were so greasy. I couldn't even eat them. How have I been consuming so much freakish grease all these years!? Time to cut it out.

Meredith: Dying for some apple pie but don't wanna blow your diet? Well I modified recipes I saw on pintrist. Each bite is approx 40 calories. Ingredients: 1or 2 whole apples Cinnamon sugar Butter Crescent rolls To do: -Remove the skin from your apples and cut into slices -roll out crescent rolls and divide them into individual triangles - sprinkle cinnamon Sugar over the triangle -add the smallest little piece of butter. You need very very little. -put your apple slice in the middle and wrap the dough around the apple slice - just like traditional apple pies, he gently press a fork on the top so that if it gets too steamy in the apple pocket the air can get out Cook in the over for 11 at 350•

The Routine
Christine: Wow.. I've slacked on posts on here, well in my defense though this last few weeks have been absolute chaos with finals etc. But I'm happy that with how busy I've gotten I haven't slacked in the excersize department. Lately Joanna's man Gleason has been a huge help and he's been slowly getting me into a routine with different excersizes so it's not too much of one or the other every week. The best news though is went to my kickboxing class last week and not only did the awesome Joanna show but my man came with! This will probably be the first time we've done fitness together and actually enjoyed each others company. He likes it so much he wants to keep going every Thursday with me and he's told his friends about it lol. Well I have no excuses this week about updates cause my last day of school is Thursday 💪😄

I Can Do This.
Haylee here...
The smell of chocolate and peanut butter taunts me. It’s my own fault really. Lurking around the corner from my cubicle are the peanut butter brownie crunch bars I made for my sister’s bridal shower. In an attempt to pawn them off on my co-workers, I have brought them with me today. Thus far, the supply is depleting gradually and I’ve gotten a ton of compliments. However, the placement next to the printer was poor form on my part. Every time I get up to grab my documents the smell wafts under my nose and tempts me just to take a bite. At one point I stopped, hovering above the calorie laden chocolate feast. My fingers danced agonizingly close to the plate before my willpower kicked in and drove me back to my desk. I had a piece of dark chocolate instead.
I can do this. I can do this. I can do this. If I say it enough it will come true…right?
I live for the days that food doesn’t control me, days where I don’t make excuses for what I’m putting in my body. I can’t be too tired, too sad, or too sore to care about my health. This is my one body, my one shot at happiness and I refuse to fail.

Failure of babysitting
Member: Meredith The epic failure of babysitting is eating. So many snacks. I'm doing my best not to snack but Mac and cheese for dinner may become the worst part of me. Luckily lots of running around will be done to off set the fatty foods.

Haylee here :]
We shall call this post "The Importance of Eating". Since we started, my weight loss has been relatively stagnant, fluctuating up and down a few pounds here and there but never dipping below the weight I started at. Naturally, I'm wondering why. I'm eating healthy (for the most part), I'm exercising...sure I could probably sleep more and that would help but it is what it is.
Enter the Bodybugg. I've had this thing for a good while and it's helped me lose weight in the past. I calibrated it yesterday to make sure it was remotely accurate and based on my BMR it's right in the neighborhood. Okay. Cool.
My current fitness regiment involves working out 3x a week for two hours: 1 hour of Muay Thai and 1 of Crossfit. Today I was only able to do Muay Thai and I was pleasantly surprised by my burn. 500 calories and that's just while I was working out. On days that I'm doing both classes I'm likely burning 1,000+ (we'll test this on Monday).
So, this should mean the weight is falling off of me by now, right? Wrong. There are several factors in this little fitness equation. For starters, I am putting on muscle. I feel muscles in my triceps I haven't felt since I swam on a competition team. We all know muscle weighs more than fat, and if you don't you need to follow this blog stat!
Also, if I'm burning 1,000 calories on these days I'm not eating enough which is forcing my body into starvation mode. Starvation mode means I'm hoarding every pound I have. Let me do some math...I hate math:
My BMR is 1,675 - this means I burn this many calories simply existing (it varies based on height and weight. Check yours here.) 1,675 (BMR) - 1,200 (cals consumed) = 475 calorie deficit just from reducing what I eat.
Ideally I should drop 500 cals from eating and burn 500 from exercise creating a 1,000 daily deficit. 1,000 x 7 days = 7,000 which equates to 2 pounds a week. Still with me?
If I burn 3,000 calories in a day but I'm only consuming 1,200 I'm burning almost 2,000 which is wwwwaaaayyyy too much. My body is straight up panicking and wondering why I'm exercising so much but not giving it enough food. This also hinders my recovery. If I don't feed my body more it'll find ways to feed itself AKA muscle loss. Womp womp.
Here's the moral of my story: Be a gym rat, but make sure you're eating enough to sustain your routine. Figure out roughly how much you're burning when you exercise and adjust your eating to create that deficit.
Well, I've veered into ramble territory and that part about sleep...yeah I should probably do that. Goodnight, friends!

Mega Fail
Christine:
So since I’m not beating myself up too much cause I’m technically claiming yesterday as my cheat day, 1. didn’t even go to the gym. 2. Still the crafty Joanna and her man took me to a place called Wood Ranch Grill and ya it was baaaad :P first it started with the damn dinner rolls which I clearly couldn’t just eat one I had to eat 5! Come on! And then I order a raspberry-pom martini which was really good but I’m sure it was filled with all sorts of sugar and lastly I order the pulled pork and mash potatoes which I drowned in there house BBQ sauce. So ya if it makes the situation any better I didn’t finish everything in the words of Joanna of course! Well today will definitely be different gonna make me some toast and eggs whites. Hope your cheat days go better then mine did… God I feel so dirty hahaha
