Alright. I think I've made up my mind after following all of this discourse for months now.

After what happened on Reddit recently, I think denying the existence of transandrophobia would be like trying to argue that misogyny doesn't exist or that racism doesn't exist.

Trans men and transmascs do have experiences that are unique to them - if you know this to be true, you should support the usage of the word transandrophobia and discussions surrounding it.

If you believe that trans men and transmascs deserve to discuss these experiences, and raise awareness of these experiences, you should support the usage of the word transandrophobia and discussions surrounding it.

If you believe that trans men and transmascs discussing their experiences is not inherently transmisogynistic or misogynistic, you should support the usage of the word and discussions of transandrophobia.

Trans men and transmascs are constantly denied the right to talk about these issues, whether we refer to these issues with a word like "transandrophobia" or simply say "transphobia directed towards trans men/transmascs", etc.

If we can't talk about these experiences regardless of whether or not we call them transandrophobia or not, then using the word transandrophobia we shall.

If your first reaction to trans men talking about their problems that they have in the queer community is "it's what you signed up for when you came out," you are part of the problem.

No one signs up to be bullied and harassed for being themselves especially when they are a part of a community that is supposed to be accepting of who they are. Just because they are different from you, does not give you a pass to put down their struggles.

You wouldn't tell a trans woman to stop talking about the things she faces and you wouldn't tell her that it's what she signed up for, so why are you telling that to trans men?

Something that drives me bonkers is when people respond to the (objectively incorrect) claim that DIY testosterone is just as or even easier to access as estrogen is with the fact that T is a controlled substance in most of the world and E is not, and then someone comes in with “acktually all you have to do is go to any gym and ask one of the guys there lmao” like hm. Let’s put our thinking caps on and consider why this might not be a very good solution for the vast majority of transmascs to solicit a controlled substance from a cis person who will now hold a degree of power over them and their access to care with no legal oversight. Not saying this would never work out obviously but if you’re going to say to my face that it’s just as safe and accessible for a non passing pre-T trans man or masc to get into this kind of dynamic with a cisgender man in the year of our lord 2025 as it is for a trans woman or fem to go about getting access to E in one of the many mostly legal avenues available for DIY I think you might just be stupid, sorry.

"protect the dolls" is wonderful but if that's all you have to say in support of trans rights, then you are not a trans ally. do not forget trans men and people outside of the gender binary in your activism.

supporting trans women is amazing. it's necessary. never stop. but i want to see people showing up for other trans people in the same way.

If you think trans men who talk about transandrophobia are the same as cis men who are self-proclaimed Men's Rights Activists, then you either a) know nothing about what either group advocates for, because if you did, you'd know how incorrect of a comparison that is, or b) you DO know the difference and are purposefully lying to make trans men into boogeymen. Which is such a perfect example of transandrophobia that it's kind of impressive.

I used to be addicted to these things in high school. I still dream about nicotine regularly. They’re no fucking joke.

My elderly father started talking about how frustrating he finds “the pronouns thing” and I was like. Oh no. He had such a good stand on this, he’s been they/them-ing his cishet siblings for god’s sake! Is he regressing?? And he was talking about how difficult it is to remember, and how onerous it feels to expect strangers to keep track of it, and I’m like oh no oh no.

Then he says, “I mean, the problem isn’t the gender thing. The problem is four words: she, her, he, and him. We got rid of stewardess and turned it into flight attendant. It doesn’t matter if the flight attendant is a man or woman, so we got rid of it. We just need to get rid of those. I don’t need to know.”

“You don’t need to know… people’s gender?”

“No. I don’t care, I don’t need to know, and I don’t want to remember it.”

So we can relax. It’s just a continuation of his crusade to they/them the world. He doesn’t want to remember anyone’s gender. He’s abolishing the genders.
