Imogen is really just walking proof that the things Liliana did were not “necessary.” And I kind of think Liliana’s deference to her daughter in their last conversation is indicative that she is slowly realizing this. Being confronted with the essentially younger version of herself who also left home to seek out answers, who has pretty successfully avoided the pull of Perdathos (something Liliana told her to do, weird that), and who is proof that Ruidiusborn can successfully work with those on Exandria aligned with the gods and not be “persecuted,” like Ludinus told her, all really shines a light on how weak her justifications to herself have been. 

And that's the tragedy here! Liliana thinks she's made this huge sacrifice for her daughter and for people like her, but she's been taking the easier path this whole time. And now she is seeing that! Imogen is making the bigger sacrifice by fighting to keep Perdathos at bay, despite the pull and the welcoming feeling and it (possibly) being a literal part of her. So like, if we want to talk about why Imogen is a counter to a lot of great CR villains because she choses to do good, well, we need to acknowledge that Liliana is one those villains. And Orym and Ashton and the rest of BH have every right to dunk on her because they see someone just like her make better choices every day.

Liliana is really fucking rich talking about how the Ruby Vanguard are necessary cause "they will hunt us down" as though Ruidusborn haven't e on Exandria for all of recorded history before the Ruby Vanguard turned them into walking bombs.

"We'll be free" Are the Ruidusborn who are mind controlled into attacking their own friends and allies "free"? Will killing the gods "free" those Ruidusborn? You really think an empire built on mind control will let anyone live free once the only threat to their reign is gone? The bormodos are untouched by the gods under the veil of Predathos. Ask them how free they feel.

HII. here's another fanart of a fanfic, this time by @kmackatie, its sleep with benefits!

my plan was to do a BUNCH* of these little fake movie screencaps, but being very honest i don't think i can do all of that now, considering i want other projects to take priority. and that ive done maybe 5 complete images from the story, but now i dont like my choices of colour and style, so i might redo them in the future.

*since i don't plan on continuing this for the time being (or at least taking a really long time to do it), ive put the thumbnails and notes ive made for the story under the cut!!

i did up till.. chapter 7?? bathroom scene, which isnt in my collection of scanned pictures. by god i have such cool compositions for the whole thing in my mind, but it's really tiring to do this! i really really enjoy taking an author's scene and trying to put a visual to it, its like a.. puzzle.. a mental challenge...

genuinely this process taught me a lot and helped me better understand composition and using setting to tell a story. it also made me realise the importance of PLANNING.. which is something i did little of, i was like hm i draw caleb and essek a lot (not really) so i dont need character sheets or planned outfits or whatever (i really did).

anyways, enjoy these stick men and my insane scribbles trying to decipher katie's use of colour in the story.

"Everything scales in the universe, even ecosystems." Okay Ludinus but if you release the "natural predator of the gods" and it eats all of them, what happens when it gets hungry again? A wolf may prefer to eat deer and elk but if it gets hungry enough, it will devour a rabbit. And you believe humans can approach god-like abilities if allowed to reach their true potential. Why wouldn't Predathos recognize and crave that as a suitable dietary substitute?

God it finally hit me why Liliana was pissing me off so badly… well one of the reasons.

She talks about Predathos like it’s a goddamned horse that only listens to her.

Liliana Temult, a human woman in her forties or so, is trying to horse girl the thing that scares gods. The fucking ARROGANCE.

I'm really, REALLY, trying to hold back from writing a Dorym reunion one shot just in case next episode gags me with a spoon but the desire is STRONG, ya'll.

That last desperate Sending from Orym. Seeing our boy finally break under the weight of everything after being so unwielding, so brave, so incredibly, absolutely strong for all of his friends, for his family. And the person he cried to, the person he wants to be there for him the most is Dorian. The friend that left all that time ago. The friend he said to, resolutely, sounding so incredibly determined "this isn't goodbye, it's see you later". How much it hurt to hear his voice break and sound so, so small when he said "I'm struggling. I need you."

And then Dorian. Finally having the life of adventure and freedom he wanted all along. Finally getting to see the world away from the expectations and the observations and the judgements. His brother is safe, his friends are safe (at least he thinks they are). But why does he feel so empty? Why does it feel like he's missing a part of himself? Could it have something to do with a halfling fighter he's been itching to call on the Sending stone every night for months?
