alright so shedletsky is getting US to collect the swords. must mean he's pretty desperate, using the idea that he sent us in specific back in time compared to literally anyone else to get them.
alright so first two swords. from griefer's dialogue we know that mayor thaniyel (in his glory days) was the strongest of the sword guardians, and he mentions that 'even blackrock's king couldn't compare', implying cruel king is/was the second strongest.
and which two swords do we get first?
y e a h .
so what if shedletsky made us get the ghostwalker so early so that we wouldn't misbehave or get taken over by the swords, or have them amplifying our emotions? that sounds obvious, but both cruel king and griefer have been described as kind and much gentler than their current selves before being manipulated by the swords.
it could also be so that the firebrand doesn't try to take us as sacrifice, seeing us as less than human or as having half a soul due to the inability to feel emotions as wholly as most.
