just played the free demo for tainted grail: fall of avalon and i am h o l l e r i n g at how much better it executes in just the DEMO the shit that veilguard tried and failed in the 120+ hours i played of it.
it’s got everything:
cosmic entity bullshittery
enthralling world building right off the bat
LORE
crazy ass fantasy religion dynamics
cosmic/magic prisons holding powerful entities
the datv crossroads but cooler
blood magic
corruption from ancient magic
an ancient, powerful king hitching a ride in your mind while he’s still stuck in aforementioned magic prison
i have no idea when this game is supposed to come out and it was pure chance that i decided to try the demo but HOLY SHIT am i glad i did

the way its become normal to block any random person that you've never even interacted with over minor differences in fandom opinion is doing far more harm to post engagement and general sense of community than the advent of discord is but people are not ready to hear that

I might be crazy, but it almost looks like they could be cropped elf ears.
you know. i just noticed that danarius has some weird ears.

like the upper part of it, i dont think i remember any other character with an ear like that in game
#literally would be a crazy back story change for a pretty black and white villain from what we know of him#da2

In light of politics coming out of the UK, USA, and many other countries lately, I thought maybe I should just post a reminder that transphobes are NOT welcome on any of my blogs. I don't care if you like the subjects I post about. If I catch you, you will be blocked. I fucking hate you and hope you either change or suffer consequences of your bigotry.
And to any fellow trans people reading this, especially trans women: You are loved.

The Siege of Skyhold
I wish there had been a Suicide Mission equivalent in Inquisition.
After the loss of Samson/Calpurnia, Corypheus knows you’re coming for him. He’s lost his general, his vessel, and he’s out of time. He sends everything he’s got left against Skyhold, knowing it probably wont kill you but it’s definitely going to hurt.
So, the remains of the Red Templars, Venatori and rift demons are bearing down on Skyhold. Did you close every rift in every area? Congrats, significantly less demons to fight. Did you complete the Emprise quests? Less Red Templars. Dorian’s table quests? The Hissing Wastes/Western Approach? Less Venatori.
SO now we’ve got our force size, lets look at who survives. Yep, survives, because I hope you bothered to do your companion quests. Did you do Bull, Cole and Sera’s? Because they just fired a trebuchet at the tavern. Did you bother picking all those herbs and searching for the logging points to get the keep upgrades? If you didn’t, expect heavy casualties. Oh, did you convince Dennet to come to Skyhold, btw? Cos if you didn’t I hope you like your default horse; Dennet was the only one who could keep all your new mounts safe Hey remember those FRIGGING ANNOYING requisitions officers? Did you do -this requisition-, -this requisition- and -this requisition-? Ohhhh good, because if you hadn’t you would have lost your merchants, because your forces wernt strong enough to keep the demons off them.
Everyone meets in the courtyard and you’ve got to take charge. Which of your friends are you sending to the front lines with your troops? Bull? Good choice! He’s used to leading, and has either the chargers or a load of Qunari already listening to him. Cole, you say… oookay probably a bad choice. Why not send Cole to the prison to protect the civilian staff? Or Vivienne, or Sera? Actually maybe it’d be better to send Viv up to the battlements to shield the troops. Oh, good thing you did Bull’s loyalty mission, a demon was about to rip him in half when the Chargers/Qunari swooped in. Man, that would have been bad if you hadn’t!
Wait.. you did NO loyalty missions, NO upgrades, NO requisitions, NO rifts???? Ok, enjoy the last fight against Cory with just Cass, Varric and Solas, because those are the only people left. Viv survived, because of COURSE she did, but since she wasn’t loyal she left, she doesn’t believe in you after that sorry performance. Everyone else is dead. And each had a death cut scene you had to watch.
THAT is what I expected when they gave me an upgrade-able castle and many companion quests.
THAT is what I wanted from “Lead Them or Fall”.

genuinely wild to me when I go to someone's house and we watch TV or listen to music or something and there are ads. I haven't seen an ad in my home since 2005. what do you mean you haven't set up multiple layers of digital infrastructure to banish corporate messaging to oblivion before it manifests? listen, this is important. this is the 21st century version of carving sigils on the wall to deny entry to demons or wearing bells to ward off the Unseelie. come on give me your router admin password and I'll show you how to cast a protective spell of Get Thee Tae Fuck, Capital

You think you're an introvert because you like being alone, but maybe it's not about solitude. Maybe it's about peace. Maybe it's the quiet you've fought so hard to protect. Maybe it's the safety of your own company, after being around too many people who made you feel like too much or not enough. You smile differently around people who bring you calm. You speak more. You laugh louder. You come alive in rooms where your soul doesn't shrink. You're not afraid of connection. You're just tired of surviving it. So don't confuse your boundaries with isolation. Don't confuse your quiet with disinterest. You're not closed off. You're just waiting for someone who feels like home, not a battlefield.

Honestly a fantastic creation and I am excited to hear more fever dream thoughts
Working on an overhaul au of the entirety of Dragon Age lore because I didn't sleep a wink last night and this is what happens when I'm left alone. PART 1
The Maker is an entity that survived a "restart" of the world by interrupting a ritual by a powerful artifact and sorcerer. They stole the "power of a god" that the sorcerer was trying to get (Yea this is a mirror to inquisitor, sue me, it's thematic and why they are "chosen") That's why Thedas is like some pangea nonsense. Obviously there's stuff outside Thedas but we don't see it.
They picked Andraste as their human bride because their soul looked like a loved one from the previous iteration of the world.
Almost all the old humans from the previous world were turned into spirits, immortalized as the emotion they felt all over the world as it restarted.
The fade is the schism in time created by the ritual that restarted the world, that's why Spirits reenact past events where the veil is thin.
Titans were created by the maker to help in reshaping the land for the remaining humans, and as a protective measure against anything like the ritual happening again. Then spirits saw the new/remaining humans and wanted to be like that too, so they started making themselves bodies. (That part is canon to the actual lore)
Lyrium isn't just titans blood, it's made from the fabric of the fade itself, which is why it's so powerful. That's why it's so sensitive to magic.
Then the spirits started to steal it, and the maker was forced to choose between their new creation or their old companions, and, conflicted, ended up choosing neither and remained passive for too long, which allowed the Evanuris to rise in the first place as gods, because nobody remembered the Maker (who obviously went by a different title/ name back then) When the Titan's dreams were cut off, though, the Maker did grant them a wish, and brought their lovingly crafted rock statues to life, creating the Dwarves, children of the stone.
Also the remaining ancient elves after the Veil went up did research on purifying blight, but it went poorly, creating white blight. It's a power sponge, latching onto any power source much like regular blight, but instead of enhancing them and making *them* more powerful, it just drains them of all their power, becoming more and more unstable, eventually becoming an amalgamation from what it's absorbed.
That's it for part 1! If you have any questions, do post them below and I will do my best to answer. I'm really excited for my overhaul even if no one else is XD
This is not because I think the OG lore is bad, I was just sleep-deprived and had a fever dream and ran with it.
