Currently Reading:  Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M., by Sam Wasson
It is a fascinating glimpse into the pop culture and politics of the 1960’s. The book goes behind the scenes of casting, filming, and directing the famous movie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s.  It reads like a movie, but it is entirely nonfiction.  You feel like are inside an artsy New York Café across the street from Gloria Vanderbilt’s Brownstone…listening to Truman Capote chat about his book.

Before I was Mrs. Tulledge, I was Miss Korpal, and I taught at the first public Waldorf School…Urban Waldorf.  I learned so much about art, Eurythmy, music, and storytelling.  I made some great pals including the most talented handwork teacher, Mrs. O'Laughlin. She taught students knitting, cross stitch, needlework, and so much more.  She was one of my favorite humans to work with.  I haven’t crocheted in years, but Jillian wanted a blanket for her Rainbow High Doll…and you can’t buy one.  So…I made one!  I keep the project in my purse and pull it out whenever I am sitting in the car waiting for school to let out, etc.  It is almost done and I love how it is turning out. P.S.  Thanks Menomonee Falls Public Library for being the best library ever and having crochet hooks for check out! P.P.S.  Thanks to Sharon Klinger giving me some of her crochet hooks so I could return the library’s!  You are such a blessing to all that know you. Have you ever wondered if Dollar Tree seeds grow? They totally do! My morning glory vines were looking a little pale green and sad. I gave them three pumps of indoor plant food (shhhh...don't tell them that they are outdoor;)...watered well...and shazam! Huge healthy green leaves. Once in awhile I help guide the vine...but it just knows...reaches out...grabs...and grows some more. So wonderous- that a simple plant does this. Morning glory flowers symbolize strength and resilience. Now I know why. #flowerstagram #morningglories #dollartree #miraclegro (at Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTx7mcqFQlD/?utm_medium=tumblr

One study at Harvard’s Medical School Mind/Body Institute found a reduction in heart rate of 11 beats/minute and a fall in blood pressure during knitting. I think this study also applies to sewing;), because it definitely calms me. I really can’t remember how old I was when I learned how to embroider. I also can’t remember if I asked to learn…or if my sweet Grandma Anna just showed me. I do remember all of the handmade items around her home. Crocheted doilies under lamps and vases, embroidered pillow cases, and crocheted quilts. Clearly she liked to create and beautify simple things. A few years ago my dad let me have some of my Grandma's vintage dish towels. They had ironed on embroidery patterns on them…but were never started. So…I tried my best to figure out the design and finished them. There is one final project that is at least 40 years old that I will be working on next. The ironed-on pattern is so old I can’t make out the stitches. I spent a little time on the “Google”;) and found clip art that is pretty close! Now I have to get some transfer paper and begin! In the meantime, I have embroidered a few dish cloths from my own collection with some modern woodland creatures. #embroiderersofinstagram #vintagekitchendecor #embroideryhoop #polishheritage (at Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTvGYbjla-N/?utm_medium=tumblr

I still remember vivid scenes from watching the Movie Pollyanna on the Disney Channel.  Pollyanna making the prisms with the grumpy old man…telling Mrs. Snow she should make a quilt…the “glad game”…and a porcelain doll that led to tragedy.  It was my favorite movie!  Then I saw the Parent Trap!  I can still recite the whole song…and I loved the images…the camp director…the dance…and the fact that one girl played both parts.  It became my new favorite movie ;).  Then I stumbled upon another Hayley Mills movie, Summer Magic.  I can still recite each song…and it literally never tire of watching it.  I even referred to myself as my parent’s treasured daughter, from the character in the movie. Summer Magic is STILL is my favorite movie.  Flash forward to earlier in the week when I saw a little story on my Alexa device advertising Hayley Mills’ new book.  I have never ordered a book so fast.  It arrived last night…and I am already knee deep.   It is like a time travel machine…in all the best ways.  From those first days before being a Disney star…to traveling to Trinidad and Tobago with her father to film Swiss Family Robinson…the book is a already a real page turner.  #hayleymills #bookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CTpdg6gLM9D/?utm_medium=tumblr

So excited to share with you that I am part of the Grow, Candace, Grow Zonderkidz Launch Team! How did you learn patience as a child? Waiting for an art project to dry? Waiting for your turn for a swing on the playground? If you are like me you aspire to be more patient...and patience is so hard to teach children! Grow, Candace, Grow, a new book by Candace Cameron Bure, teaches patience through a series of shenanigans growing a classroom garden. The cheery book is full of all the signs of spring: blossoms, butterflies, and even mud;). GCG also includes a sweet Bible memory verse in the beginning. GCG will be a great addition to your classroom library and the perfect book to stash in your child's Easter basket! #growcandacegrow #booklaunch #candacecameronbure #zonderkidz (at Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8bqTIiHMfPMB6r5x8wNajuv63KgjXPgogJDcs0/?igshid=8y558gqslehk

Maiden voyage of our Sheboygan Rocks! Jillian, age 5, found the first rock so we created them together! This batch is simple with paper stickers and clear coat. Our first drop of the Yoda Rock was to a Starbucks barista who always says welcome to Star Wars....instead of Starbucks lol. Can't wait to hide the rest and see how far they go. Thanks Nadine Miller for your rock that inspired us! (at Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5vF_tkFdsrKtdUC01qxMr5qG9cBdynHtUFs2g0/?igshid=4h95bz5mnr6e

Magical start to the holiday season! Corey got Jillian and I tickets to the Moscow Ballet's Nutcracker. @asoutherntouchsc made us the cutest nutcracker necklaces to wear to the performance. Jillian adored meeting one of the ballerinas! @alisa.bolotnikova was so kind and encouraging to Jillian. I bet Lady J can't wait to get to dance class Tuesday at @dynamitedancestudio to tell her dance teacher, Ms. Audra allllllllll about it. #mommydaughterdate #moscowballet #inspiredance (at Riverside Theater) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5jk_0SAjbsKcf0nUefLn4ragjrCgW231-wYhE0/?igshid=1ckszbddjxkw2

Emily Gould's new book is out! Guess what? My review of her book is featured on her website:
Do you know or love a child, grandchild, or student that is shy or discouraged because they are different?  Courageously Mae is a new character education book to add to your home or classroom library! As a former public school teacher, and now special needs adult teacher, I feel this book is perfect for helping someone see how their differences make them special and likeable.  Perhaps the child in your life isn’t shy, but is loud and boisterous. This book is full of subtle notes of compassion and how to be a friend to those that are different. As a bonus for royal watchers like me, the featured dog, Mae, is a Corgi! Corgis have been faithful royal companions of Queen Elizabeth II since childhood. The end of the book has a surprise twist involving a bit of Corgi folklore any adventurous child will enjoy.  Pass the kindness on and purchase this book for a child, grandchild, or classroom this holiday season.
