NORMAL PEOPLE - SALLY ROONEY

rating: 3.5/5 ⭐️

didn't live up to the hype for me sadly. i enjoyed it, but overall it felt slow. i did like how the characters changed throughout the story. you could see how both connell's and marianne's family dynamics shaped them into who they are, and how their relationship with eachother did the same. i do also feel like it'll be a book i'll grow more fond of more time passes.

overall, i think i would have enjoyed it more if less people hyped it up

All of these have been on my tbr for so long!! im glad to find such affordable copies!

then i went to a second bookstore that i havent been to before, but i've always heard great things, and now i know why!! so many books!! and a MASSIVE sci fi section... like half the store. I only ended up getting one thing but i am very excited for it...

a near perfect condition box set of the hitchhiker series by douglas adam! its been a series that has always intresed me but ive never found any copies second hand! so i was so excited!! and for only $30! the books added together would be like $90 (then theres always an up charge for box sets) so im so excited!!

found out my fav local bookstore is having a 20% off sale until saturday but i work every day other than today😭 but i also have no money.. but mayhaps ill go anyway..

DUNE

current rating: 4.5/5

i'm about 50% through Dune and i am loving it. i know its very much a love or hate book, but i just think its amazing. the world building is amazing, the characters are a bit one dimensional but it makes sense why they would be (a royal family doesn't really get much time to develop character traits, and Jessica being a bene gesserit, a discipline group, why would they have dimension?) Dune is also the first book in such a long time, that i have read and not predicted any of the plot, all of the plot points are so unpredictable and i love that! I can't wait to continue on in the book and the series!

I'm about to start book two: muad'dib if anyone wants to talk about Dune with me😭
