Superman 2025 + Textposts 2/?: Clois Edition

The new Superman movie really like, awoke something in me. I feel I had forgotten about the concept of a good, unapologetically, fully kind softhearted hero, without even realizing. Or at least, taken it for granted.

Like I love antiheroes, morally gray heroes, complex heroes, nuance and all that. But a hero who's greatest power is how incredibly nice and compassionate they are? A hero who just absolutely refuses to be anything other than kind? A hero that just, really, truly believes in the world, in it's ability to be good? Just an undoubtedly bright beacon of hope and joy?

Wow. I mean, hello. Aren't you just extraordinary? Hadn't seen you in a while, where have you been? I missed you.

Vague Superman spoilers ahead but what does it say about movies lately that I was genuinely surprised that they beat the bad guys without some big catch or sacrifice. Like sure there little things and emotional ramifications but at the end of the day they won.

Lex even tried to do the whole “force the hero to make an impossible choice” thing and it didn’t work because Superman asked his friends for help!

Anyway I’m just obsessed with the theme of “Good can win. It may be hard and it may seem hopeless at times but with love and friendship and a radical determination to save as many people as you possibly can, good can win.”
