Graduations and Goodbyes
Nishinoya Yuu x Reader In which life is bitter, and you and Noya part ways.
***
In the many years you’ve known him, nothing about Nishinoya has ever screamed boyfriend. He dresses half his age, and his shirts are a tad bit too large on him, and he gets little bits of food stuck on the corners of his mouth when he eats, and his handwriting is chicken scratch, and his cooking is little more than half-salvageable scraps in a pan, and he’s terrible at math, and he can barely put an essay together for the life of him–
You’d met him as an overeager middle-schooler, a squeaky, pre-pubescent boy just entering his teenage years. A history class and a terribly organized group project was all it took for the two of you to be at each others’ throats, bickering and fighting at every given chance. You’d sworn him in as your mortal enemy, declaring your rivalry to anyone and everyone who would listen.
Thinking back now, you don’t have a clue how things mellowed down, or when you’d begun to look at him the way you do now. Hell, you don’t even really know how you two started dating, or why. And yet you can’t help it: the affection that swims and swirls in your chest, the pride that swells at the sight of him, the urge you get to shout to the world that Nishinoya Yuu, in all his vertically-challenged glory, is yours.
You won’t deny that you’re young. Naive and hopeful and praying, desperately, for the right one to come your way. Stupid in the way all highschoolers are. But when his hands are entwined with yours and he looks at you like you’re all that’s ever mattered, how can you resist?
It’s love, you think. Because what else can it be? He’s everything to you, and he always will be.
***
Senior season has sprung upon you in the blink of an eye. You’ve set your sights on Tokyo for the year ahead, and you’ve spent the past few months planning out which trinkets to bring and which clothes to wear and what new identity you’ll craft for yourself next.
University will bring new beginnings and awkward things–but Yuu, you know, will always be by your side. He tells you as much, after all, and he always has.
“You’ll never have to worry about us–we’re tight as a knot.” A kiss seals the deal, and you believe him. What reason do you have not to? Nishinoya Yuu is your past, your present, your future-to-be. You’re devoted, truly, and, if his words are anything to go by, he is too–
So why can’t he meet your gaze anymore?
***
The Karasuno basketball team has a penchant for throwing house parties, at least in comparison to its volleyball team. You’re awfully sure this is their third or fourth this quarter, but for all the booze they’ve given out, you really aren’t in any position to complain–especially as a frequent recipient. And judging by the way your friends have ditched you (“Hot basketball boys await!”), you have a feeling they aren’t complaining, either.
Not that you mind being alone too much. The host seems to have no shortage of nostalgic tunes and comfy corners to take solace in. And you’re feeling pretty good; you’ve long downed your fourth (fifth?) drink by now, little red solo cup lost in the sea of drinks before you
“Hey!” There’s a warm hand on your shoulder; the touch is gentle and familiar, and the gruff, easy voice brings a smile to your face.
“Asahi!” You whip around, wrapping your arms around his neck to pull him in. You haven’t seen him since he’d graduated; he hugs you back in the old, comforting way he’s always done, hands settled right at your waist. “Didn’t think I’d see you here,” you laugh, pulling away just a tad too quickly. The alcohol has your mind spinning a little.
He chuckles. “You can thank Suga for that. He went into mom mode the other day–said I’ve been too much of a homebody lately.” The image really isn’t difficult to conjure; you can practically see him with his arms crossed over his chest and lecturing the poor boy half to death. “In other news... Noya wouldn’t happen to be with you, would he?”
A shake of your head yields a pensive hum. “I haven’t been able to get ahold of him lately,” you tell him, trying to mask the concern in your voice. “I mean, I’ve seen him at school and stuff–but he’s been distant, y’know?” You look up at him curiously. “Did something happen?”
Asahi’s expression contorts into something of a grimace, eyebrows furrowed and lips pursed. “No,” he says, but the words come too quick, too loud–
It’s a lie, and you know it.
You raise an eyebrow. He knows that you’ve caught on, but he shakes his head regardless.
You’ve never known him to be much of a secret keeper. A few shots are all it takes to loosen the man up; you’ve used him time and time again to sniff out Noya’s birthday gifts weeks in advance.
Today, though, he’s refusing to crack. And even as you drop the subject, the tension lingers in the air, clawing at both of your throats with a vengeance. Something is up–and you’ve clearly been left out of it.
The frown on your face stays put for the rest of the night.
***
Unable to hold back any longer, you show up at his house the very next day. His mother–bless her heart–welcomes you with a hug and a tray full of freshly-baked sweets. After years of being in her presence, they taste of home.
“He’s upstairs,” she tells you warmly, and you thank her as you scurry up the steps. You know his place the same way you do your own. You’ve memorized which steps creak and which ones wobble, which photos on the walls have the cutest Noyas, which corners are the best to cuddle in–
“Yuu,” you say, pushing his door open. He’s cross-legged on the ground, laptop balanced treacherously on the tip of his left knee.
For the first time in years, he greets your presence with dismay, eyes falling to the ground. “Hey, um–you really shouldn’t be here,” he tells you.
It takes more effort than it should to keep your voice level. “And why shouldn’t I be?” You step forward, shut the door behind you with a click. “You’ve been avoiding me, Yuu.”
“That’s not true–”
“Why don’t you want me here, then?” Your volume is raised despite yourself; you don’t miss his flinch.
He turns his head away and sets the laptop on the ground. The cogs in his brain are going haywire; you can practically see the thoughts churning, synapses firing, heart beating–he’s picking at the cuticles on his left thumb.
Ignoring his discomfort, you seat yourself beside him. A few breaths is all it takes to regain some semblance of control. “I just want to talk, Yuu. I’m not going to be mad–I just want to know what’s going on.” You place a hand on his knee. “Did I do something wrong?”
“No–”
"Then what is it?"
There's a pause before his next words. “I’m leaving," he breathes, finally.
“For college?” You lean in closer, letting his breath graze your cheek. Despite your best efforts,  the confusion laces itself in your voice, hanging off of every syllable. “That’s not the end of the world, Yuu. We’ve talked about long-distance already, haven’t we? It’s not like I’m staying in Miyagi either–”
“You don’t understand,” he blurts. The interruption is in-character, but holds far more weight than usual. His voice has gone up an octave, words falling from his mouth in a hurry. “I’m leaving Japan.”
Wordlessly, you pull away. You can feel the hurt radiating from him, but you can’t help it.
Something warm and wet hits your knees.
“Wait, it–it’s nothing against you!” he says, scrambling to wipe your tears. “Really, I promise–I’ve been thinking about it and talking it through with Asahi and my mom and stuff,” he grips your arm, finally meeting your eyes, “and I think, you know, while I’m young and I have the energy, traveling a little wouldn’t be so bad, right?”
He’s always been the adventurous type–this much you know. And though you’ve talked about Yuu not wanting to go to college (“Not just yet, maybe..”), you didn’t think it’d come to this.. or that he’d hide something so big from you.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” A twinge of embarrassment hits you as your voice cracks midway. By now, though, you don’t think it particularly matters.
He takes in a breath. Sharp, quick, painful. His next words come out a whisper: “Look–I didn’t know how–”
“What does this mean for us, Yuu?”
He’s crying now. Big, ugly tears fall against his flushed cheeks.
“I’m sorry.”
Your forever, you realize, is coming to an end.
***
The next few months are a blur. You hold Nishinoya a little tighter, kiss him a little softer, and savor each moment with him just a little more. Even with your demise in sight, he still fits so perfectly against you. And as you watch him toss his cap into the air, you’re filled with nothing but love.
You toss yours with his, watching them float down to the ground.
Graduation day is marked with one last kiss.
***
Miyagi’s airport is a little far off, and you’re the only one with a car and license on hand. With Tanaka in the backseat and Noya riding shotgun, the car ride is sure to be far from dull. You have half a mind to drown them out with music. But when Noya squeezes your thigh and gives you the same doe-eyed look he always has, pupils swimming with love, you’re reminded, suddenly, to take in the moment, to bask in his presence just one last time. So you toy along with the boys the entire ride there, joining them in belting old tunes and playing stupid games.
The banter doesn’t stop even at the airport–and, despite yourself, the chiding comes automatically. “Take care of yourself,” you tell him, straightening the rucksack on his shoulders. “Don’t do drugs. Don’t get arrested. And don’t find yourself stranded all the way in Italy–I won’t be there to take care of you, y’know. And send me photos!”
He laughs. It’s melodic and light, the way you’ve always known his voice to be. “I know, mom.”
There’s a comfortable silence as the two of you pull each other in for a hug. It’s longer, warmer than any other you’ve shared; and even though Tanaka is right there, you hold him like he’s the only one around.
“I love you,” he whispers. “And I always will.”
You know he means it. More tears fall from your eyes, spilling onto the fabric of his t-shirt and leaving an ugly dark patch in its wake. “I love you too, Yuu.”
He pulls away.
And then he’s gone, heading beyond the gates and beyond your grasp.

random college! bakusquad headcanons
Kaminari Denki
Realistically, probably a CS major or something of the sort, but is extremely lax about his schoolwork.
Almost never makes it to lectures. Definitely doesn’t make it to any of his classes before 12 pm. Also: 100% procrastinates until the last minute, rushes everything half-heartedly and then acts confused when his grades are terrible
Everyone wonders how he got into college. But hey, C’s get degrees
The type to forget to eat because he gets absorbed in whatever he’s doing, whether it’s schoolwork or just a video game or something
I don’t really see him as the party type, but probably loves a good round of drinks with the Bakusquad. A loud, fun-loving drunk
Eats like ass, goes to the gym less than he should but still has unexplainable god-tier metabolism
Streams on the side!!! Probably streams a couple of hours a few nights out of the week, sometimes has the rest joining in for fun
Literally nocturnal
Bakugo Katsuki
Hear me out–Humanities major Bakugo Katsuki
A history/polisci major who gets way too pumped about academic and political discourse. Extremely opinionated, but usually has well-formed stances
Never brings it up around his friends, but once dragged into a debate he never backs down
Always on the grind. Has to be physically dragged away from his work, and even then is always grumbling about how he has better things to do with his time
Cooks for everyone :) Whips up entire feasts when someone in the group is feeling down or an important exam is coming up
Not afraid to fight professors he believes are wrong in their thinking, has definitely sidetracked entire lectures with his points before
Kirishima Eijirou
Recruited athlete, absolutely the quarterback of the football team or something–I mean, look at him, he’s absolutely built
Majors in econ or applied maths honestly. He really isn’t the sellout kind but I can’t imagine he’d enjoy the structure of academia–he just wants something relatively practical that he can grind out and be done with
Emotional support pillar. Everyone hangs out in his room because it’s where he is–and god knows he gives the best hugs :)
His room probably isn’t the neatest, but it has the most charm. It’s filled with cushions and blankets because he wants everyone to feel comfortable when they swing by
Everyone knows and loves Kirishima, even beyond the Bakusquad. He’s the gentle giant on campus
Sero Hanta
A whole-ass philosophy student, but the chill kind
The only one to actually engage Bakugo in debate, but doesn’t actually care whether he wins or not; usually just brings up points he thinks are interesting and probes thoughts out of those around him
You can’t convince me that this boy isn’t a stoner.. Writes the absolute best papers while high, but generally has no motivation to work otherwise
Despises long readings
Caffeine addiction. No question about it
Definitely works in the library, probably shelves books at odd hours. He loves the place; he’d probably live there if he could
Mina Ashido
PHYSICS MAJOR MINA ASHIDO. She’s ambitious and will not hesitate to work for what she wants
Grasps problems very naturally, but absolutely hates the way schooling is structured. Not the world’s best test-taker and falls asleep in large lectures
Surprisingly a decent work-life balance, spends a good portion of her time at night studying but is pretty chill during the day
Cuts completely loose over the weekend, the most social of the bunch. Always making new friends, and is fantastic at keeping up with them
She’s the one who scouts the parties they go to; it almost feels like she knows everyone around. Always getting invited places
Probably dresses incredibly well. I don’t know why. I just feel it
On the competitive dance team; they’re actually pretty well-ranked regionally.
Also probably figure-skates or something of the sort. She seems like she’d do a really graceful niche sport

Move-In Day
Cove Holden x Reader
In which Cove Holden helps you move into your brand new dorm, and wishes you farewell before your freshman year.
Takes place after Step 3.
*
Like it or not, your life has always revolved around one Cove Holden. One bright-eyed, silky-haired, infuriatingly endearing Cove Holden. It’s always been him, in everything you’ve done, forever a spectator and participant in one. You have never known a time without him: your classmate, neighbor, best friend and boyfriend-extraordinaire.
Even now, as you edge into adulthood, Cove Holden is all you know: seated beside you with one hand on the wheel, wavy hair tucked behind his ears, his eyes longingly on yours. He catches your gaze, and offers you a smile, full of sincerity as always.
The journey upstate had been a long time coming; a goal, ever-present, but inching along so slowly that you’d opted merely to brush it off. But as the summer of your senior year came to a close, your move-in day had sprung up on you like an unpleasant (albeit somewhat enthralling) surprise.
Cove, forever a gentleman, had insisted on driving you all the way. You’d argued against him, only to be shut down–and quite firmly at that. “If you’re going to be moving so far away,” he’d told you one night, “then the least I can do is go and see you off.” He was a much better driver than you anyway, you’d reasoned with yourself, and it’d be nice to have another pair of hands to unpack. The idea of flying alone didn’t quite appeal to you either, so, after hardly a moment’s hesitation, you’d agreed to let him tag along.
College, all the way up north–you can hardly believe you’d come so far. You’d dreamt of this for years, spent months drafting application essays and crafting resumes. Years of preparation and research, though, hadn't seemed to brace you for the anxiety to come.
Even now, sitting in the car with Cove, hands intertwined, the idea feels more like a dream than your living, breathing reality. But the car trudges along, movements never once faltering for your thoughts.
You’d be on your own soon–a stray left for dead. You’d be nowhere near Sunset Bird anymore.
Lost in thought, it takes you more than a moment to grow cognizant of your surroundings. The scenery has shifted, the sky around you having faded to a pale purple hue. The change in atmosphere is instant. High-rise buildings litter the skyline; the shopping districts, no longer limited to a single street, bustle with activity.
It feels, beyond anything else, unfamiliar.
Isolating.
Realistically, you are far from alone. Derek, having gotten his scholarship, lives right down the hall. Your parents and sister are always a call away, and your friends have never failed to remind you of their presence. And Cove, despite being far from technologically adept, is still a better texter than most–and a relatively consistent one at that.
These thoughts, at least, are reassuring.
But the fear remains–and all you can do is try and work alongside it.
You turn to Cove. The window has been rolled down; you feel the cool evening breeze against your skin, fresh and foreign all at once. His hands are running mindlessly through his hair, detangling the inevitable wind-induced knots. Your eyes flit down to his fingers drumming against the steering wheel, then lower down to his scar, the pale white mark running gently down his forearm.
Sitting there, so unaware of himself, sunset illuminating soft features–Cove is beautiful, in every possible way.
You smile, content.
*
The hours pass, and before you know it, you find yourself on campus for the first time.
You tap the keycard to your door, and it opens with a soft click. The two of you are met with the sight of the dorm, the yellow-tinted wood somehow even less impressive than the photos you’d seen online. Barren walls, popcorn ceilings, worn-down linoleum from decades past. Sparsely decorated as it may be, the room puts you at ease.
You let Cove move past you to enter. “What a joy.” You scoff at the drawl in his voice. “Where’d you say your roommate’s from?” he asks, his shoulders nudging the door wider. His set of boxes is significantly larger than yours, and he looks smaller than ever with the stack cradled against his chest.
“Florida,” you answer, following his footsteps.
“Oh.” He sets the cardboard down on the ground, the impact resounding with a solid thump. “I hope they won’t mind the mess we’re about to make.”
That draws a laugh out of you; you think back to all the times you’ve stepped into his room, only to find it a complete bird’s nest. “They’re not moving in until tomorrow.” Another thump resounds as you drop your own load. “We have time to clean. But don’t mess things up too bad, please. I’d like a good first impression.”
“No promises.”
You roll your eyes, and, cracking open the first box, begin the arduous process of unpacking.
*
“Well,” Cove says finally, brushing dust away from his hands. “I think that was the last of your stuff.”
Setting the last of your books in place, you take a moment to revel in your surroundings. Despite his messy tendencies, Cove had done a pretty good job–with your assistance, of course. All your clothes had been folded neatly up in the closet, and your posters were hung all over the walls, like a delicate reminder of home. On the desk sat two small photo frames; one with you and your family, and one with you and Cove.
“I guess so, huh,” you mutter.
There’s a weight in the air around you, and you bow your head.
There’d been too much to discuss. Hell, even now the topic was one you wanted nothing more than to avoid. The ‘what-ifs’ had littered your mind for months now, hanging over you like a constant reminder. And though Cove had tried his best to dispel them, they’d inevitably come back–and with a vengeance. You didn’t know what the future held, nor did you know whether the two of you would last. Uncertainty riddled your mind: what if he grew bored? What if the two of you lost interest? What if, after all your time together, the physical distance became too much?
His hand comes to rest on your shoulder. The gesture is light, gentle–a welcome pressure.
The tension dissipates.
You sigh, lifting your chin up to meet his gaze. There’s a softness in his eyes you’ve come to recognize as sadness. And there’s a warmth behind your own that threatens to grow hot, to liquify and pool before you. You choke back the urge to cry, stifling yourself by clearing your throat. “You’ll text me, won’t you?”
He chuckles softly at that, thumb stroking circles into your skin. “Of course. I’ll call you so often you’ll grow sick of me.”
“I’m counting on it, Cove.”
You give him one last hug, inhaling his scent and pressing your cheek to his chest. He smells like Sunset Bird, a mixture of the ocean and the beach and all the pleasantries that come along with it. His pulse, slow and steady, beats in your ear.
Devoting the moment to memory, you angle your head to plant a peck on his cheek. “Thanks for helping me move in.”
He grins at you. “Of course.” The expression sparks something strange in you, something equal parts melancholy and equal parts pride. You so badly want him to stay–you want to reach out, pull him down into the bed and sit right atop him so he might never escape your grasp.
“I love you,” you whisper, part-plea and part-farewell; you see the pain in Cove’s eyes. “Don’t get into too much trouble while I’m gone, alright?”
He lets out a breathy laugh and, shaking his head, shoots you a smile. "I love you too."
You smile, and breathe him in just once more. Then, with one last teary kiss, you let go, and wish him a safe journey home.
You’re on your own now–
But you know he’s with you, always.
*
A/N: Another self-indulgent piece as always, because I've fallen in love with one Cove Holden. My freshman year of college starts soon, and I guess my worries culminated in this piece. Thanks for reading, though–I hope this was alright! Any reblogs or likes are appreciated!!

Some Twitch Streamer! Kenma thoughts
Either streams for one hour or twelve. Zero self-control once he's absorbed in a game
Constantly being reminded by chat to drink/eat/stretch (and forgets even then)
Probably has really cozy, minimalistic merch (hoodies, sweatpants, pajamas)
Is never up before noon, so his streams usually run from late afternoon to late at night
Has definitely fallen asleep on stream on multiple occasions
He's a very silent sleeper. He sets his head down on the desk and everything goes quiet
Highlight reels either consist of him asleep or him shrieking at the top of his lungs, no in-between
Does unboxing streams where fans send him mail.. only to be horrified at the number of cat ears in his P.O box
Has a subreddit that fans fill with awful screencaps of him. Sometimes he opens it up on stream and can do nothing but grimace at the content
Hates horror games, but finally agrees to set them as rewards for sub goals after his fans pester him
Is the type to fall off his chair after one too many jumpscares, much to his dismay (and the delight of his chat)
Lowkey gets bullied by his fans
They love him though :)

kenma, despite being a self-proclaimed baby-hater, is so popular with little kids. they flock to him in curious hordes, and riddle him with questions left and right, ranging from his job to his hobbies and his outfits. how old are you? how'd you get your hair that color? do you have any games on your phone?
much to kenma's dismay, kids only seem to love him more after finding out that he streams. they beg to watch him in action, despite his frantic attempts at warning them that, no, his channel is definitely not family-friendly (though, in many cases, this only serves to intrigue them more...). in their defense, though, pro-gamers are super cool!
whether he likes it or not, kenma is a perpetual favorite—an idol, almost—to any young kids he meets. outwardly, he claims to hate it! but, truth be told...
kenma is great with kids.

sneak peek of something im working on. a midoriya one-shot and, admittedly, another angsty piece :p
---
Midoriya Izuku had always been nice. There’d always been that sort of air around him; courteous, careful, cautious, ever-aware of his surroundings. He tended to those around him and, awkward as he was, never failed to make them feel at home. Polite and kind and adorable in all the right ways, the freckled boy was everything anyone could have asked of him—and so much more.
And so the label arose. Nice was the perfect word for him. It was all you ever heard of the boy, seemingly the first descriptor in everyone’s minds.
You'd always thought it to be accurate. He was the type to plant gentle kisses on your forehead at dawn and make you lunches at noon. He’d hold your hand in the hallways and blush at the very sight of you.
Because Midoriya Izuku, see, was nice.
But, quite frankly, that was all he was.

Absolutely loved reading Curiosity! You did an amazing job of portraying how ppl can slowly fall out of love. And if you do ever decide on writing a sequel and is stuck between a happy or angst ending, pick the latter bc p a i n :)
But seriously, absolutely loved the fic and can’t wait to see more of your writing! xx
thank you so much!!!!! you're so sweet ahh... writing curiosity hurt so bad but so good at the same time (˶‾᷄ ⁻̫ ‾᷅˵) and yes—pain. i'll definitely take that into account if i ever write a sequel!

Curiosity
Kaminari Denki x Reader
Includes: fluff, angst, hurt w/o comfort, implied cheating, mentions of alcohol
In which you and Kaminari Denki grow too comfortable in your routines, and weary eyes begin to wander.
Or, Kaminari Denki falls out of love.
***
“I want to marry you.”
His voice is firm, clear, confident. “One day, when we’re older.” Your hands are in his, clasped between the grip of his fingers, enveloped in a warm, lasting pressure. “We’ll get a house together, and a dog, and then we’ll get married.” He pulls you closer–and he’s warm, infectiously so, smiling down at you in a silent plea.
You feel his certainty in every possible way.
So you smile.
“Of course, Denki,” you whisper, heart fluttering.
He chuckles, kissing your forehead. You feel the vibrations of his chest against your own, strong and deep and grounding. “Then it’s a promise,” he says.
You want to hold him to his words. But the memory, prevalent as it is, always seems to present itself in faded reddish-browns, like a story scrawled in sepia-tinted fonts. The longer you dwell on it, replay it in your head, the faster it disintegrates and turns to dust.
Before you know it, it slips away between your fingertips. His promise trickles down and out of your reach, until, finally, you can no longer call it your own.
***
You’d always known him to be yours. Everyone had; the inseparable highschool duo, ever-paired together. Your friends never invited one of you without dragging along the other. He’d met you as a first-year, and had immediately pestered the homeroom teacher to let him sit by your side. The poor woman had had no choice but to comply, relenting only after months of the boy’s pleads.
He’d loved you, right from the start. Kaminari Denki showered you in affection, in handwritten notes and personalized gifts. Wide-eyed and charismatic, he’d done everything just right.
It was the half-hidden glances he shot you when he thought no-one was looking, the grin he reserved just for you, the way he’d pull you close to him every day without fail; it was the way he lit up at the sight of you and radiated with excitement at your very mention. Kaminari was earnest, and infectiously so.
How could you resist?
Dating Kaminari turned out to be an adventure. He’d drag you left and right on his antics—dared you to push your own limits as he did his. He’d take you on midnight drives, morning treks, call you over at the crack of dawn for nothing more than a hug.
You were the careful, calculating counterpart to his thrill-seeking habits, to impulse and grandeur.
He loved excitement, experiences, exploration.
You loved him.
A part of you knew, though, that you’d never quite be able to keep up.
***
“What will you do after highschool?”
It was a question you’d begun to hear increasingly frequently. An emotionally-charged inconvenience, the words tasted like uncertainty and distress, the budding woes of a soon-to-end highschool career.
“Go to university,” was always your answer, ever-practical. Every time without fail, you’d grimace at the words.
His own response, though, was easier. Lighter.
“Beats me,” he’d chuckle, eyes crinkling as his lips turned upward in a smile. He’d sling an arm over your shoulder, pulling you close to his chest. “We’ll figure it out together, won’t we?” he’d say, grinning smugly down at you.
Heart beating, you’d roll your eyes and push him away. “Yeah, yeah.”
Together.
Fearfully, you clung to the word.
***
The two of you throw your caps together at graduation. The navy-blue headwear drifts in the gentle spring air before landing gently at your feet, rustling the grass beneath you. Around you, people are crying. You’re tearing up yourself, but Kaminari is quite the opposite, a bundle of pure joy and glee.
“We did it,” he whispers.
You nod.
You cling to his side throughout the festivities, greeting all your friends with your hand interlaced with his own. Kirishima and Sero, eager as ever, have already begun begging to join Kaminari as his groomsmen.
Kaminari takes it all in stride, cackling all the while. “Bakugou’s the ring boy, then.”
“Like hell I am!” he snarls. In an instant, the two boys have begun an impromptu wrestling match.
You laugh; beside you, Ashido and Jirou do the same.
The antics are familiar, easy. They feel like any other day–yet a sense of finality hangs over you all. The air weighs heavy with the bittersweet realization.
“This is really it, huh?” Ashido mutters, sniffling.
Kirishima sighs. “Yeah.” His eyes are round, shining. “God, can you imagine? We’re gonna be adults.”
“We’ll have jobs,” Sero says, brows furrowed. “We’ll live on our own and pay taxes or whatever.”
Ashido sticks her tongue out. “Yuck.” Another chorus of laughter rings out, and most of the group continues on with the conversation.
Jirou, though, remains quiet. Lips pursed, she turns to you, gaze demanding attention.
“You’ll be moving in together, won’t you?” she asks.
You nod.
“Big commitment,” she remarks. “You sure he’s ready for it?”
You know Jirou, trust her, immensely. But she’s always been Kaminari’s friend–a constant in his life, but never quite your own. They’d been friends long before you’d met him, and they’d stayed that way through the years.
You expect that will never change.
You chuckle. “Well, he’s the one pushing for it. You know him–can’t exactly change his mind when it’s made up.”
“Guess not.” She smiles up at you, lips turned sweetly up at the corners. But there’s something more in her eyes; something distant, wistful. In an instant, though, it’s gone–replaced instead by a look you assume is sincerity. “I’m happy for you two,” she tells you.
The smile widens.
Somewhat uneasy, you smile back.
***
Your shared apartment is cluttered from the very start, an explosion of personal trinkets and accumulated belongings. You opt for separate rooms, a decision you’d made with work and study in mind. You liked peace and quiet, and two rooms seemed a better choice–
Though, as both of you quickly learned, that didn’t stop you from sleeping in his arms every night.
Your studies proceed as expected; smooth and easy, you breeze by your courses without any trouble. Kaminari finds himself part-time work nearby, a little cafe a block or two away. Things are comfortable–you fall into a routine, stable and calm.
Calm, though, has never quite fit him.
Kaminari has always sought the thrill.
***
Things grow busier over time. Schoolwork has you keeling over, bending backward at every moment, rushing to get your work done. The two of you, slowly but surely, grow apart; your routine no longer involves nightly cuddles, but weekly ones; your interactions gradually shrink down into practically nothing.
He tries, of course; he’ll pop his head into your room, ask you to come out, to go for a bike ride, to hang out with him and watch a movie–but crunchtime is brutal, and things never quite work out as you’d like.
You wish things could be easier.
But life, as you learn, slows down for no-one.
***
After a long day, you want nothing more than to see your boyfriend. You want his arms, his embrace, his words–attention, plain and simple.
But Kaminari, as of late, has seemed unkeen to deliver.
You think to go and see him, but there’s a sign up on his door. Busy, it reads, letters written in a bold red.
You disregard them, and walk on in.
“I’m going to bed,” you tell him.
He hardly looks at you as you enter, hardly acknowledges your movements; his focus lies elsewhere, drowned in the blue light of the monitor. There’s a smile there, creeping on his lips, a child-like wonder sparkling in his eyes as his avatar jumps and swerves before him, each movement meticulously trained, controller clutched firmly in hand.
You’ve become familiar with the sight.
“Hell yeah,” he cries suddenly, fist clenched with excitement. “You saw that, didn’t you, Kyo?”
You sigh.
“Denki,” you call again, louder this time. The sound reverbs in your chest, pouring out of your throat; pained, like a wallow.
He continues. You stand there, back against the doorway, arms across your chest.
Finally, he stops. The pause menu appears on-screen, and he swivels around, chair spinning delicately on its wheels–
But he’s frowning, eyebrows furrowed as he tugs his headphones down. They hang over his neck and radiate a faint glow on each side. “Yeah?”
“I was saying,” you mumble, “I’m going to–”
“I heard you the first time,” he says blankly.
“It’s late, Denki. Don’t you want to sleep?”
“Not now.” Another dull reply.
You sigh, run a hand through your hair. “I miss you,” you admit.
“Me too–but not now, okay?” His lips turn upward–but the smile he gives you is forced. “I’m not sleepy. Maybe tomorrow.” Then, without another word, he swivels back around, slides his headphones into place, and resumes the game.
You shut the door and tuck yourself into an empty bed, trying to ignore his cheers, his voice–
And the voice, inevitably, at the other end of the line.
***
He goes out more now; bar-hopping, he tells you, with highschool friends. Kirishima and Sero and Bakugou and Ashido, you presume. Privately, you wonder why he never offers to bring you along like he used to.
You’re busy, though. You suppose it doesn’t matter–
Until, one night, he doesn’t come home.
It takes ten frantic tries to reach anyone at all; Ashido and Sero both seem not to notice your calls at all. Even Bakugou, the reliable one of the bunch, doesn’t seem to have his phone on him.
It’s Kirishima that finally picks up, his greeting slurred and dopey. “Whazzup!”
You sigh. “Ei, is Denki with you?”
“Huh?” Almost instantly, his voice has cleared up. “Isn’t he with you?”
“He’s not.”
“He said he was going home–wait, I’ll text the group and ask…” There’s some fumbling on the other end of the line, followed by some rustling. “Shoot, we left the bar ages ago too–”
You pinch the bridge of your nose. “Just.. let me know if anyone gets back to you.”
“Yeah, for sure.” His voice is breathy, uncertain. “He usually gets home fine–I really don’t know, I’m so sorry.”
“It’s okay, Eijirou. Thank you.”
You hang up. Another hour passes–but not knowing what else to do, you shut your eyes and drift off to sleep.
***
You awake to a buzz from your phone. The screen illuminates the ceiling over you; the only remaining source of light.
Denki’s with me, the text reads.
It’s Jirou.
The text fills you with a weird sensation–a foreign taste, somewhere between relief and apprehension. A bitter flavor treads on your tongue.
Thank goodness, you type back. Is he okay?
Plastered, but he’s fine. Should I call him a cab? There’s a pause before her next text. I can take him tonight, if you want. My couch is free.
You ponder the thought. A part of you wants him home, wants him where you can see him. You aren’t even sure why he’d be at Jirou’s in the first place, and the thought fills you with unease. You want to drag him home, question him–
One glance at the clock, though, convinces you otherwise.
Could you watch over him tonight? I’ll come and get him tomorrow.
Another pause. Then, a reply.
Okay :)
You exhale and, tossing the covers over yourself, fall back into restless sleep.
***
You leave to retrieve him the next day. Jirou’s flat is a long journey over, and trek leaves you feeling unsettled. Still, your worry drags you out of bed and across town, coat wrapped firmly around you.
The walk, smack in the middle of winter, is far too cold for your liking.
Jirou meets you by the front door, and welcomes you in before you can even move to knock. “Long time no see,” she says, smiling, pulling you into a hug. She looks better than ever–her face is shining. There’s a happiness in her eyes that is unfamiliar, even to you.
“You look good,” you tell her.
“So do you,” she says–a bluff, certainly. In your disheveled, crestfallen state, you’re sure you look anything but. “He’s still asleep, he’s in the living room… Oh, here.” The girl reaches over to her dining table and hands you a steaming cup of tea. “You must be freezing.”
You smile. “Thanks, Kyouka.”
Just then, an all-too-familiar groan resonates through the room. Kaminari emerges from the couch, bedhead on prominent display, shoulders slouched and slunken. His shirt is crinkled in odd places.
The alcohol, clearly, has gotten to him.
You grimace.
***
You ride the train back home, not willing to brave the cold. Kaminari, still much too hungover to think, seems to appreciate the decision.
The train is crowded when it arrives. The day occurs to you then–Saturday, right at the peak of rush hour. You hustle your boyfriend into the cart and hurriedly rush him into the last remaining seat.
The train chugs to a start, and you clutch onto the handlebars above you. You watch as Kaminari leans his head back, a soft groan escaping his lips.
The sight annoys you.
You lean your torso forward to bring yourself closer to him. “Why were you at Kyouka’s in the first place?” you ask, voice just above a whisper.
Kaminari tilts his head to meet your gaze. His eyes are sunken, tired. “Just wanted to see her,” he mumbles. “Haven’t seen her in ages.”
You sigh.
“You worried me, Denki.”
“I was fine–”
“No,” you snap, cutting him off. “You didn’t even tell me you were going out,” you half-hiss, not wanting to draw attention to yourself. The anger, though, is building, tingling in your chest and fingertips, right on the edge of your tongue. “I sat at home waiting for you to come home, not knowing where you were or who the hell you were with. I had to ask Kirishima where you were–and, apparently, you told him you went home.” You can feel the heat welling in your eyes, threatening to spill. “Is that home to you, Denki? Her couch?”
He doesn’t meet your gaze. “Sorry.”
You exhale and lean back, resting your weight back on your heels. The rest of the ride back is silent.
***
The next few days are tight, tense. There’s an anger you can’t quite quell, a thirst for something you can’t quite quench. You’re torn between wanting an explanation, an apology, a remorseful embrace assuring you things will be different–
But he goes out the next weekend, and the next, and eventually on the weekdays you once spent in each others’ arms. He fails, over and over, to come home, and all you can do now is try your best to ignore the click of the front door at dawn.
Spite. That’s the feeling now. You’re spiteful, vengeful, you want more out of him and less at the same time–but you don’t protest. You keep your lips tightly sealed, and move on with your life. You spend meals apart, nights separate, days distant and alone.
You fall into another routine–a colder, lonelier one. Sometimes, behind his back, you catch glimpses of his belongings; the worn winter jackets, the strewn contents of an overnight bag, the notifications from the girl you have always known–
You wonder if, in her presence, he finds the same thrill he once did in you.
***
A/N: went through a really rough spot. my feelings culminated in this monstrosity–it’s been a while, but i hope the writing was okay :)
also, i love jirou. very, very, very much. i didn’t mean to throw her under the bus here. i like to think the reader’s insecurities got to them, and that the cheating didnt actually happen, but that’s always open to interpretation.

whiskey: in which miya atsumu holds his liquor much better than you.
*
"If you're so tough," Atsumu challenges, "then chug it."
You scoff, but lift the glass to your lips regardless. "You're the worst," you say, and tilt it; honey-gold liquid scorches down, through your mouth and throat and stomach. It leaves an unsettling warmth in its wake. You want to cough it back up, spit it out all over again—
But you don't. The liquid travels further down, and you glare defiantly up at the figure of the man before you.
"Satisfied?" The words feel forced. You suppress the wince that threatens to show.
He laughs—he's caught onto you, evidently. "Maybe, maybe," he says absentmindedly. He's leaning closer now, gaze languid as he draws nearer.
You tilt your head up as he approaches you, meet his eyes with your own. He's tall, you realize—broad-shouldered, looming. He smells of something gray, ashen.
"You're funny, you know that?" he whispers; he’s come closer now. His breath grazes your skin.
"A compliment, I hope?"
A grin; he bares his teeth at you. Your eyes latch on the tip of a canine.
"Perhaps."

Iwaizumi doesn't know how to tell you how much you mean to him other than to spontaneously wrap you in his arms from behind, his chin resting gently on the top of your head.
He'll press firm kisses to your neck, his arms entangled around your waist, fingers thumbing at the fabric of your clothing. He's large, all-encompassing; you can't help but lean into him.
He chuckles when you pout. "Indulge me," he mutters. His deep voice is muffled against your hair. With him pressed so close, you can feel the rumble of his chest against yours. "Just for a little while."
You roll your eyes. "Whatever you say, Hajime."

Hi, hope you’re well. I was wondering if you could do headcanons for Katsuki and Eijirou (poly maybe?) with a quiet, shy s/o? S/o doesn’t talk much unless they’re alone with Bakugou and Kiri. I love them too much, thanks.
a/n: ahhhh i'm so late to this... i'm so sorry!!! i did them separately for the time being because i'm bad at poly so i hope that's alright!!!
Kirishima and Bakugo with a Shy S/O
Bakugo Katsuki
Nobody in 1A expects it to work out at first. The two of you are polar opposites in terms of how you express yourselves
Bakugo didn't see it coming either—falling for you was unexpected. He'd overlooked you at first, only to grow increasingly intrigued as time went by
Needless to say, though, once he fell for you, he fell hard.
He loves the fact that you open up to him and only him. Not only is that a huge ego boost to him, it prompts him to open up to you as well.
Katsuki mellows out in relationships. He's passionate, sure. But he's far less wound-up around his s/o.
He doesn't feel the need to put up any defenses around you—just as you don't feel the need to put any up around him.
In that way, the two of you are more similar than the class gives you credit for.
Both of you show the most genuine, relaxed versions of yourself to one another.
It's an unexpected dynamic, certainly. But neither of you would have it any other way :)
Kirishima Eijirou
Kirishima loves you. So, so much.
He feels so honored knowing how much you trust in him and he just wants to be the best that he can be for you
You're in good hands with Eijirou! Respectful, thoughtful, and overflowing with love for you—he'd do anything if it meant your happiness.
He's so proud of you!! Eijirou is usually the kind of boyfriend who wants to show you off at every given moment
With you, though, he resists that urge—he knows you probably don't want the extra attention and interactions associated with that
Kirishima would never force you into situations you're uncomfortable with!! So he smothers you with affection in private instead :)
Protective. Not in the jealous, overbearing kind of way—he just wants to make sure you're okay.
He knows you're far less outgoing than he is and makes sure to check up on you as often as he can, especially when you're around other people
If he sees anyone trying to overstep your boundaries, you best believe he'll be right there to come to your rescue >:o

BNHA Breakup Headcanons
a/n: i’ve had this in my drafts for a little while.. i may do more characters in the future, but for now.. here it is :)
Characters: Kaminari, Shinsou, Todoroki, Midoriya
*
Kaminari's the type who will lie to your face and say he's fine.
He'll treat you like anyone else. You’ve always been his best friend. That doesn’t have to change now, right? You guys can stay friends–it’s just a measly little breakup..
He can’t imagine his life without you, so your relationship reverts back to the friendship you’d had with him before you started dating.
He says it’s natural–it isn’t.
He wants something more. He wants the kind of dynamic the two of you had before: the unwavering trust, the closeness of your back against his, fingers intertwined as the two of you imagine your futures together in hushed whispers. He wants all of you, and the reassurance that he’ll always have a place by your side.
You’re friends now, though. Nothing more and nothing less.
So he cracks a smile, makes a couple of lame jokes, all the standard Kaminari things. You pretend not to notice the way his voice breaks, the quiver in his words, the clench of his jaw, the way he averts his gaze whenever you try to look him in the eyes. The hesitation, the restraint.
He perfects the act over time. He steadies his voice and straightens his back, learns to smile a little wider and laugh a little louder–but the hurt never truly goes away.
Shinsou can't even look you in the eyes. He wants to crawl and burrow himself away at the very sight of you.
It hurts. There's an all-encompassing emotion that wells in the pit of his heart and it just.. hurts.
Everything about you is familiar, and overwhelmingly so. He sees you in every work of art, and he hears you in every single song, and he swears feels your weight against him, rising and falling with your breaths—
You pervade every corner of his thoughts. He wants to hate you for it, truthfully, but he just can't bring himself to.
Hitoshi tries to avoid you as much as he can, but it can't be helped sometimes; he catches glimpses of you in the hallways between classes, and sees you during activities. And each time, his heart flutters like a warning signal
He kind of wishes you'd move on. He kind of wishes you wouldn't. He's filled with regret and sadness and grieving and—in some messed-up way—love. Not a single ounce of him knows what to feel about you anymore and it frustrates him to no end
Shinsou learns the hard way that some things just aren't meant to be.
Todoroki can't distinguish between his emotions. At all.
He isn't too upset at first. The breakup was meant to be good for both of you, after all. Why should he be sad?
Hell, he doesn't even treat it like a breakup for a while. He sticks to the status quo and talks to you like everything is normal. Continues to text you night and day. It's like he didn't notice the two of you broke up at all
It hurts more for you. You need time after a breakup; you want to stay friends, but you need time to process any lingering feelings you may have
Naturally, he's taken aback when you—quite bashfully—tell him that you need space. Space???????? Why would you need???? ok now he's hurting
He respects that, of course! Shoto just... didn't truly realize what a breakup entails and only now does he register that it actually means losing you and.. oh boy.
It's numbing. Shoto recedes into himself, speaking even less than he usually does, isolating himself from everyone—he doesn't know what to feel or think anymore.
He's hurt and confused. The poor boy needs a hug, and he needs reassurance that he'll be alright.
He'll be okay—eventually.
Midoriya knows the breakup will be good for the both of you in the long run. It was a mutual decision, after all—he knows this is better.
The knowledge doesn't make it any easier to cope.
He cries. Gut-wrenching sobs and gasped breaths for days on end. He cries everywhere: under his covers, and in classes, and in his dorm room.
His friends don't leave his side all the while. They hold him as he weeps and reminisces about you, and they listen to him as he rambles about lost futures and abandoned plans.
He swears he's not hurting. He's just.. sweating from his eyes. Profusely.
Izuku grieves your relationship like an old friend—but he doesn't want to forget about you. He holds his time spent with you close to his heart, and he never thinks to resent you for how you two parted.
It only takes him about a week to get back on his feet; he greets and speaks to you pretty much normally afterward. He wants nothing more than to see you happy, and he supports you no matter what!!!
You mean so much to him, after all—your friendship won't change over a breakup :)

also.. er.. i think i went a bit overboard.. i got excited,,, i apologize if this is a little long!!!
***
Comfort Headcanons
Bakugo's care, surprisingly, comes more in the form of words than actions—though it takes some time for him to properly piece them together.
He knows you're upset almost instantly. He's generally analytical and knows exactly what ticks you off, what irks you, what gets on your nerves.
(When I say exactly, I mean exactly. He might even recognize that something bothers you before you've even ackowledged your own emotions)
Very good at picking up on body language, tones, word choice. Notices you retracting into yourself before anyone else does
He’s watchful, but here’s the thing–he doesn't really know how to approach you in that state.
See, he knows why you're upset and what that entails. But comfort doesn't come naturally to him. He needs time to process it all
He'll treat you a little gentler at first. He's generally more restrained with his s/o, but he'll be even kinder; his voice will drop slightly, he'll put a hand on your waist, send you a few supportive glances (and smiles) from afar.
Gets a little protective over you, throwing snarky comments at anyone even looks at you wrong. Will share food with you, offer to do your chores. Little things!!
All the while, his mind races on and on trying to find the right thing to say–he wants to help you, but he can’t?!-?:!2? Articulate himself?!?-!!/
When he does finally find the words to tell you, they come out simple, powerfully worded in as few sentences as possible. He’s not typically one for compliments, but he’ll slam you with affirmations
Wraps you into a big firm hug. Really firm; his arms cling around you, presses his lips to the top of your head. Mutters against your skin; he smells clean and fresh and just like him.
“You’re the strongest person I know. Don’t tell yourself otherwise.”
Bakugo's comfort is reassurance and strength. It's quiet, constant, but never overbearing; knowing he has your back fills you with a warmth.
Kirishima will literally scoop you up into his arms the moment he even thinks you're upset.
Relies on his gut instinct to read your emotions. He's usually right—usually.
Sometimes he overthinks it and gets worried you're having a bad day, even if you aren't... So he showers you in love and then he looks at you all sweet and asks if you're feeling better and you just say yes because you're too touched to correct him ahjdagjdahdj
Regardless, he's the absolute sweetest when it comes down to comfort! He'll pour all of himself into you and you'll feel so content and full of fuzzy warm feelings
He will literally clear his entire schedule for the day so he can take care of you and make sure you're doing alright.
Really good at listening!!! He's so patient—he'll let you ramble on and on and on, making sure to keep his focus only on you the entire time
Will organize mini dates to help cheer you up. Movies and popcorn are a solid go-to!!! He'll set up something nice and cozy so he can smother you in hugs
Lots and lots of physical affection and LOTS of encouragement. Will kiss you on the forehead and boop his nose against yours. Holds your hands and refuses to let go
His eyes practically shine as they look at you; he's overflowing with love for you and it emanates from every fiber of his being
"You're going to get through this," he tells you. There's a firmness in his voice—an unwavering faith. "You're going to get through this, and you're going to be okay. I'm going to be here for you every step of the way."
No matter how upset you are, he'll make sure you crack a smile :)
