He doesn't see it , the whole atmosphere is calm , there no rushing to some point in time , there no one after them at this second , there no chucking guns or jumping over furniture for cover. Its just John and him , with both the dogs resting along them. Frank is doing most of the talking ( which is a surprise ) but its fine , John is in his head and he gets that often times its him in his head and John pulling him out. 

So he doesn’t see the moment that John is leaning in , he registers that John is leading into his space  a second too late and looks up from giving Dog attention to only spot John had stopped. That soft smile drops slightly , all easy talk stopping as both men stare at each other. Frank licks at his lip for a split second the action unconscious , his trigger finger tapping at his leg. Heartbeat quickening just a tick….

The man doesn't follow through with his action , their eye contact breaks , and Frank watches as the man leans away and retreats once more inside his head. And it shouldn't bother him , he gets it , there is a heavy chain around his neck too. Never mind how his hand tightens to a fist and he gives his throat a slight clear before picking up talking once again.

“ That’s Life, ”

“ And as funny as it may seem...Some people get their kicks Stompin’ on a Dream ”  The strumming of strings against the guitar picks up slightly , The man at the other end resided along the couch , blue nosed pit on one side and a brunette , blue eyed male at the other with his own big dog across his lap . 

The shelter is at a slow pace as of now , and as most of there chores and duties are done the two males found some time to actually relax in the break room where there , Frank found his guitar sitting against the wall from the last time he spent the night. With a smirk the ex-marine had went over and picked it up , strumming to check if it was in tune before humming a tune. When Bucky had settled right down next to him , Frank had giving words to the song. 

“ But I Dont let it get me Down , ‘Cause this fine old world it keeps spinnin’ round “ 

    “I’v been a puppet , a pauper , a pirate-” Frank fights the tug of a smile when he hears a chuckle next to him  “A Poet, a Pawn and a King”   

He takes a chance to peak over , seeing that he has the other full attention on him fully, Frank closes his eye again and let his head dip a little as the song continues. Letting them relax to the lull of music Frank startled slightly when he feels the press of lips connected to his check , can already feel his ear slightly burn as he focuses on finishing the chorus.

Sometimes , Frank wishes he never met Karen. There is always a bitter taste in his mouth , Always a painful ache in his dead chest when the vigilante swings by so easily for the other to just accept it.  hates how this is the same Song n Dance of asking for some sort of help and she would drop everything to do his task. 

          Sometimes Frank wishes he never met Karen , But often more than not he is also glad to have been chained to that bed , sharing stories of rocket ships and soldiers at post. Because when he watches the other so absorb into her work , blond hair draped over a slender shoulder and mouth moving to sound out the words of information that Frank is just barely grasping what's leaving. 

“ Are you listening?? ” 

           Frank grunts , lifts up the mug of coffee and takes a chug before setting it down before Karen’s own and nods  “ Yea , yea... Listen Karen….You don't have to stay up for this, I can take over the rest ” He comments , because he knows that it must have been restless nights just to gather all of this and with her day job still Frank can see how the slight bag pulls at her eyes. 

    But he silent, at a loss for words when all she does is smile slightly , leaning over to kiss at his cheek. “ Nonsense, Partners remember.” Is said so matter-of-fact that Frank can only rub his hands together to hide any sort of feeling that that simple small kiss didn't just pump up his adrenaline.

He doesn't understand how he somehow became a daycare.  Doesn't get why this kid seems determined to be so tight lipped on why she is sticking with him , why she following him wherever he goes , Frank does know however that if she said one more thing out of that DAMN book he’s going to both chuck IT and HER out the damn car. 

And that would be a real shame.

Teeth snap down on the arm of his coat before the dog starts to pull with all his might

              " Settle down Chief. ”          Frank twist his hand around in the canine grasp , fingers just slightly scratch at the under chin of the Shepard jaw before letting himself being moved , Might as well follow in case this ended up being some Lassie scenario.   “ I dont think your folks will like it If you start looking a bit chubby. ” He rumbles , but otherwise silences down.  Dont need people to think he weird for talking out loud to the Shepard.
