Businesses were boarded, people stayed home, because we never expected this to be fair. The city is quiet now, exhausted but mostly at peace, because justice has prevailed on this day.

On the way! Let's spread the word!!!
HELP US SAVE OUR AIR!
This is what the neighborhood wants for East Phillips! The city wants to destroy this beautiful vision and replace it with toxic fumes and the constant sound of desel trucks.

East Phillips: Flight for Our Air
HELP SAVE EAST PHILLIPS, MAKE THIS GOES VIRAL!
Right now, while national news covers the City’s settlement regarding the horrific killing of George Floyd, the City of Minneapolis is taking 7.6 acres of land and existing infrastructure from the East Phillips Neighborhood and Little Earth of United Tribes. While Lake Street still languishes with burned out businesses and piles of rubble, the City of Minneapolis intends to demolish the sound, functional, and undamaged building on the site. The community planned to use the site and the existing building for an Indoor Urban Farm, small businesses, and housing. Instead, the City of Minneapolis purchased the site to expand its Public Works maintenance yard, bringing diesel trucks, a multi-story parking ramp, and hot asphalt storage to a community already disproportionately burdened with pollution. The majority of our residents are low-income Native American, Latinx, African American, East African and other people of color. Our children have the highest rates of hospitalization from asthma of any community in Hennepin County. This is textbook, systemic environmental racism.
