hey guys, sorry i took a break for a while, but a few days ago was star stable's tenth birthday! i can't believe sso has already been around for a decade, it seems hard to believe! anyways, to celebrate this huge milestone, there's a party going on in moorland, by jasper's house. there's even a free horse, and i named my soul steed spellbook (aka astrid)! enjoy these photos from the party, and let me know what you thought of the update 🥳

Something I would change about SSO if i could...

So I'm not a huge fan of the whole "starter horse is your soulmate horse" the way it currently stands.

I was talking about it with my friend and I realized why I currently dislike it so much. It doesn't feel like fate at the moment

Right now, it feels like I was just, given a random horse to try and learn to do horse things with and then I had to buy it. We weren't like "fated" to meet, there was no bonding time first or anything, I didn't have any choice in the matter nor did it feel like the universe did either.

If I could, I would *love* to change up the start of SSO to be more something like this:

-you arrive in Moorland for summer camp (kinda like what Sindra talks about within your first like, levels on SSO). Justin greets you and has you start learning how to take care of the horses, how to ride one, etc, but its not the horse you customized at the start of it all

-as you go around doing your tasks, talking to the horses, Justin (or Maya) is like "Hey take a break and explore the town a bit" and as you do, when, say, you check out the beach, you find a horse that's maybe caught its hoof in a large tree root, or has a cut on it or is limping or something

-THIS horse is the horse you designed on the website

-No one knows who this horse belongs to. You help nurse it back to health. You bond with it and you end up getting to keep this horse (maybe you pay Thomas to write up paperwork for you or something)

But like THIS feels far more like fate to me. It'd be way more interesting, I would have felt SO much more bonded with my starter horse if something like this happened. As it stands, I'm level 18 and I only recently started feeling any sort of affection for my starter horse. I kinda hated them at first because there were so many other horses to chose from, this one was random and why would I want it.

Just my thought on things, I think theres so much magic and fate in this game they could've made it more interesting while still having a good tutorial. I would've been so sucked in and inclined to buy Star Rider much more to continue seeing what I could do with this horse I saved and now fell in love with.

Okay people, now that we’re getting more updated areas, and we all know that there’s gonna be heaps of “But my old graphics :(” posts. Let me remind you guys of something

The generation 1 graphics are literally unworkable these days. SSE can not code with them. This is the reason why they had to update our starters, this is the reason why new tack isn’t applicable on Gen 1 horses. This is why areas are being updated. SSE literally CAN NOT do anything with the older graphics ‘cause they simply can’t support them anymore, since they’re so old. It’s fine to like the old graphics. But if I see anyone of y’all complaining that SSE are updating their game, remember that it’s because if they didn’t, we wouldn’t have a game to play.

my thoughts on the faramawr and aldrach!

hello guys and welcome to another post! today i'm going to be talking about my thoughts on the faramawr and aldrach, the new wild horses from wednesday's update! 🐴

like i said, the faramawr and aldrach are wild horses, meaning you can change their magical coats into normal horse coats. these particular wild horses are on the friesian models. the horse's wild coats are supposed to resemble dragons. the faramawr and aldrach cost 950 star coins each and are only here for 3 more weeks!

as you can see from the photos above, the horses aren't very realistic, which has upset some people. a lot of people play star stable because they can't ride horses in real life, (like me) and magical horses like this make the game less and less like the real riding experience. as a person who can't ride real horses, i am personally fine with sso adding *some* unrealistic updates, because after all, it's a children's video game! i think this update is pretty cool, and i like the magical horses. i'm not too crazy about them choosing to put these horses on the jorvik friesian model though, because it's a really dopey horse. for that reason and because i'm also broke i won't be buying these sadly. another thing that i have an issue with is that i think we are getting new horses WAY too frequently, but that's a topic for another post 😅 also, there are some flying pets to match the new horses! i couldn't get a photo because it was really crowded (🥲), but there's one manta ray that's red to match the aldrach, and one manta ray that's green to match the faramawr. they're 400 star coins each which i think is insane, so i'll pass on buying those 😬
