Final Post ||

I spent most of yesterday evening and this morning just kind of mentally processing the actual closing of rookies after seven years. Seeing the amazing plans that would have come to fruition makes me a bit sad but also kind of happy that rookies ended where it ended. Thank you to the mods for prolonged effort to keep this rp running as long as it did and I am glad to have been here as long as I was. 

I first joined rookies six years ago on the 15th of October, 2014. 2014 and subsequently 2015 had been a chaotic formative years for me. At the time, I was in my third year of college, constantly questioning whether or not I should be doing my degree, watching my parents get divorced in the summer of 2015 and moving out of the house where I’d lived for twelve years. Rookies (at first through Sungjong in October and then through Kevin in March (03.04.2015) and Kris in April (04.29.2015)} was a writing escape and somewhat of a comfort. Over the years at rookies, I have grown, graduated from college with a business degree and ended up completely a different person then I was five years ago.  

My writing improved a lot and I can confidently say that it was mostly thanks to Rookies. I had been completely scared off writing after an English teacher bitched at me for my skills but thanks to rookies, I got more confident in my own skills. Sure, there’s been other rps before rookies and at the same time as rookies, but they had never lasted quite as long. Through the years, I have made some incredible friends through rookies and I am glad to have them in my life. You guys are genuinely the best and I’ll always love you. I have no intentions of ghosting any of you and hopefully, we’ll write again together somewhere else. 

Now, onto what everyone actually wants: rkmuses future and taking in the ideas and everything set out by Bianca in account, where they would end up?

rkxjongsuk: the trc vocal king, easter bunny, princess diva of youtube fame - formerly rkkevin 

I know I always used to say that I wanted him to debut the most since he’s my oldest muse,  but in all honesty, he would have never fit in the idol bubble. Going off the ideas set out by Bianca, however, his future would have been pretty satisfying. 

He would have ended up staying in TRC (since he had signed his contract for the second time back in may) and debuting as part of the rkmonstax group with the other trc boys in early 2021 (most likely as their main vocalist). Jongsuk would have felt pretty accomplished by this, and had been ready for the idol life. However, he was not ready for the rules and restrictions that would come into play with the group.  

he’d always had a kind of laissez faire approach to everything and so the idol life is kind of shocking to him. it wasn’t what he’d fantasized it would be. so, jongsuk would probably become the first member to officially leave the group before their six-year contract would expire citing personal difficulties and mental health issues (three years and a bit after debut) 

During those three years with the group, however, he’d make a name for himself as the King of OST. He would have gone on to King of Masked Singer (making it to R2 and shocking everyone with the high note octaves), gone on to be one of the trainers on the Voice of Korea partnering with Dynamic Duo, and make multiple appearances on Immortal Songs (a la Kyuhyun). Simultaneously, he’d also be collabing with idols across companies, most notably fellow former mga 3 contestant Gyeoul of And*Roma and Jiyeon of HEARTZ. 

Upon his departure from the group, he moved back to San Francisco and resumed his Youtube life and career. He would still support the rest of the boys, as an international fan and would always buy up a lot of their cds to support and tell his followers to stream. However, being back in his element, Jongsuk would feel a lot more relaxed and a lot more comfortable. 

A few months after his return home, he’d gain a collaboration with Smashbox or Morphe for a makeup line and he’d release an eyeshadow palette, two lipsticks and three eyeliners with the branding Smashbox x Stark: Rave on Mad (an homage to his youtube name: starkravingmad). He’d most likely send it in packages to his best friends in Korea. Jongsuk would find success in other fields outside of music and delve into what made his channel tick and what made him the happiest.  

Eventually, I think, he would have found love (maybe in the form of another tall actor who was in school 2013 with him) and been a happy youtuber, taking constant new challenges all over the place and always stepping to his own beat. 

As for his friends, he would have definitely gone back to Korea for Kangjoon’s eventual wedding and Jiyeon’s eventual wedding as well. The invites to visit him in San Francisco, California would have been extended to all his friends and even in his busy schedule, he’d always find time to show them all around the city that he’d been born. He’d even always be happy to see his former groupmates if they came on tour to California and would always be the first one for the backstage/VIP passes. 

rkxrm: the kt chaebol, nsg’s main rapper and actor extraordinaire - formerly rkkris, rkkmh, minhyukxrk

namjoon had always been the unwilling debut, since I honestly never saw him actually debuting before jongsuk and instead, here we are. he’s the established idol. 

With NSG’s debut having just happened, he would probably stick around as the rapper before KT began shoving him into acting everywhere. Most likely, would have ended up as leader of another subunit (maybe?) in the future putting that leadership expertise to the good use. After the first two successful comebacks, he would have gone into acting officially with the first main role on a web-drama as Cha Gihyun on A-TEEN. 

His charisma would have definitely shined and stolen the screen time since he’s a former actor already. Following initial drama success, he would have tried his hand in modelling and endorsement, with Honda and Skool Looks. He would have gone further in modelling and acting, eventually becoming more known as the actor Kim Namjoon than the rapper of nsg. 

He would have had his share of crazy fans (mostly noonas, pretty girls and drama grandmas) and even probably taken the top bias spot for quite a few people when they would have found out his past. Of course, during the course of promotions (I envision this would happen during Regular-Irregular promotions), it come to light that he’s an actual chaebol (he’s never hidden it but netizens think this is a big deal) and the heir to Kim Securities with a former Canadian award winning actress as his mother. It also comes to light the dysfunctional family dynamic that he’d always had with them.  

It caused some hardship between him and his family but he had the support of nsg behind him (his ride or die brothers and family) but in the end his family did began treating him a lot better and he eventually gained their support. 

He would have stayed with NSG all through their first contract, but probably wouldn’t have renewed and most likely would have either gone to acting agency where he could focus on acting or go back to that chaebol life and actually fully embrace it as a future heir. 

In terms of his love life, he would have officially asked Jiyeon to date him at the Halloween party and they would starred in a few dramas side by side (Cinderella and the Four Knights being their first). They would kept secretly dating and eventually after their mutual dating ban was over, would probably reveal it in a cute couple shoot for Ceci or Dazed and Confused (like E Dawn and Hyuna). After Joon would have left NSG (post contract non renewal), he would have probably still kept acting and modelling alongside Jiyeon. NamYeon would have been a lot like the Rain/Kim Taehee acting and visual power couple. 

He would have definitely still kept in close touch with the rest of nsg (since they’re like brothers) and even with all his former kt friends, loving the time that he had spent in the company. 

rksxngyeol: nova’s artist, the mangaka 

sungyeol had been an incredibly refreshing muse to write. he’s always been someone who actually doesn’t want to debut and he just wants to draw. i initially got him because minhyuk (joon) and jongsuk were getting really exhausting.  

there’s not much to say about sungyeol’s future. his contract with nova would have expired in november and he would have left the company on his own terms with the two years behind him. he learned a lot during those two years at nova and even realized a lot about himself. 

following his contract expiry, he would have asked his boyfriend (myungsoo) to move in with him over christmas with a key in a box  attached to a black butler keychain. if the other said yes, then the new year would have kicked off with the duo moving and cooking together and spending time with each other. 

sungyeol would have resumed drawing manhwa and mangas, combining his webtoon comic into a more professional looking five volume manga series with the same title. eventually he would have gotten an anime deal again and even a live action deal on his works (if your muse would have wanted to be in the live action of the Princess’s Sword, go for it). That would have propelled his family to actually recognize him as a talent and he would have been reinstated into the family. 

This would have led to myungsoo officially meeting Sungyeol’s family. His parents would have loved him to bits and his grandparents would have been iffy on it, but  his grandmother would end up dying three years after of heart attack and his grandfather would have followed her a year later of old age. 

After having dated Myungsoo for about five years, Sungyeol would have proposed to him and they would have most likely gotten married on the beach while on vacation somewhere warm. (we love a happy ending ;.;)  Also, he would have moved into a bigger house and brought Haebin with them so that they could be a cute happy family. 

Eventually, he would have come back to work for Nova as a producer and creative direction artist under Wendy as CEO (if that would have happened), and if not, he would have taken over his family’s company despite the lack of education and simply learned on the job. (Can I say that he would have been Myungsoo’s sugar daddy at some point even though they would be married or engaged at this point???)

Volunteering for ISAC: SNS

As someone who had an expert level of sns management with his own massive social media presence, jongsuk had chosen to help with sns for isac. It was an important job. It had been described by their coaches as an opportunity.

"Behind the scenes of a beloved event should be recorded and shared with fans around the world who couldn’t watch the event live. For this, some trainees will be helping to take pictures and record bts videos of their seniors." They had been told. That simply meant to Jongsuk that he could bring a slightly more professional set up than just his phone.

The sports event would be three days but they would only attend the first day which would be fine and that was nothing to jongsuk in social media terms.

On the day when they were supposed to come and help, jongsuk brought his professional camera so that he could take high quality pictures and video of the behind the scenes. He wasn’t a fansite master but his own knowledge of social media should be enough to make him seem like an expert in his own rights.

He took pictures, zooming on actions and videos of their seniors laughing and having fun between events. He wasn’t always taking pictures, rather he liked looking for good chances. He took a few more pictures, candidly during breaks and scrolled through to see how they came out. Probably by lunch, he'd taken almost 40 pictures and there was still quite a bit to go. He liked the jersey colors chosen for all the seniors and he wntd to see if he could get far enough for a distance shot of all the groups, looking like a rainbow.

Jongsuk switched out his lens once he found a good spot and focused his camera, leaning back to see how it looked in his viewfinder. The visual hed wanted was pretty cool and he snapped a few pictures. It was like a gigantic makeshift rainbow flag which he found super cute and he was sure that everyone else would find cute.

idol café: October2020

Seeeing his two friends (well a fellow vocalist and a YouTube buddy) was great. Seeing them as part of debuted group was even better. Aiming to use that connection, he was going to get the whole group sign his albums or at least his two friends. He was so proud of Johnny and Aron. They deserved it so much and he would support them 100%. Since they were coming to idol café as idols, jongsuk had to make an even better first impression than he normally would. Not depending on his cohosts (they were absolutely adorable and jongsuk adored them both) but he had to show them a good time.

Today, he’d decided to go for a relaxed feel matching their guests debut song. He’d gone for a hoodie with skinny jeans and his trademark black converse platforms since he liked to be tall and wanted to be the same height as their two trees. He was quite happy to see his friends and immediately upon seeing them, he congratulated them both on their successful debut. They had a few moments before they would start filming so jongsuk ended up hanging out with Johnny while they waited. “Honestly, it’s amazing that you’re officially debuted!” He exclaimed, grinning. Yes, maybe initially he envied his friends for debuting, jongsuk was truly one of their biggest fans and admirers.

However jongsuk was summoned to set before the filming began, he offered the group a thumbs up. “Just be yourselves and you can charm our lovely audience quickly!” He winked at them and ran over to join his cohosts.

“Let’s show them a good time, right?” He asked, grinning at his two co hosts.

After filming was over, he ran over to Aron and Johnny again. “I should get you guys to sign my cds! I got your guys single release and I managed to get you guys and Namjoon as my photo cards,” he said, grinning at them.

idol cafe: september 2020 guests: b1a4  

coming back to idol cafe was a relief. he loved being on idol cafe and when he had been told that the delay was simply caused by them ironing details out with his company, he was happy. he had been prepared to do his own thing in boredom again, but idol cafe was something that he genuinely enjoyed and was completely in his element. When he’d been told that he could come back, he was told that he’d be sharing the screen with two other hosts and he felt that he could still be a total center with his experience and endless charm.”,

B1a4 was their trc sunbae so jongsuk was extremely excited that his comeback show was their trc sunbaes that he absolutely adores. He’d always admired their main vocalist and even the entire group was absolutely amazing. He arrived early enough to get into makeup and styling. The stylist noona seeing him laughed a bit. “You has such a dramatic farewell and yet here you are again!”

Jongsuk simply grinned in response and adjusted his hair, before moving on to reapply his eyeliner nicely. The stylists trusted him enough to leave him alone for his own touch ups since he knew what he needed a lot more. Hearing the group arrive, he immediately went to greet them, eager to welcome them back to the set since they had been on idol café before and then after greeting them, he decided to go introduce himself to his fellow cohosts. “So, I take it we’re the new team! Great to see you both! I’ve seen Minho around the company but its an absolute delight to meet you, jiwoo-ah!” He exclaimed, grinning widely at the younger girl. He was sure that he could befriend the new hosts as much he’d befriended Eunji.

“Let’s have a good time filming!” He winked with a grin. His charisma sparkled in mischievous light.

jongsuk always worked his butt off to be as good as he can be and even better sometimes, since the only person who could stand in his own way was him. he was constantly trying to improve and be better than he’d Ever been. However sometimes a break was always well deserved and he loved resting as well. He’d never actually liked the diner food at trc and often ended up eating at nearby cafes, since he liked taking the time to walk there or eat on a bench outside the company to take in the fresh air.

Hearing the practice room door open, when jongsuk paused to take a sip of water, he looked over at the intruder with a grin. “Doyeon!” He exclaimed grinning at her. “I haven’t yet! I was actually just about to take a lunch break myself, so if you have food, I’m always up for it!” He laughed loudly. He was so happy to see her and he’d not hung out with her in ages since her debut. Besides an opportunity to hang out with one of his beloved girls of karma, well he’d always grab it.

no matter how good and famous the company’s diner was, at some point you would get tired of eating the same food. maybe doyeon was picky and she wouldn’t deny that, but that was the main reason why she ordered food delivery almost everyday when she was there practicing (this and the fact she couldn’t prepare her own meals like the others). this time, however, she decides to buy more and share it with a group of trainees who were working hard towards their dreams and had it harder than her. 

with the paper bag on hands, she waltzes through the corridors looking for someone. it didn’t matter if it was a trainee she was friends with or a new one, she just wanted to do something nice as their sunbae and hopefully get closer to them considering it was hard to keep track of who was still there, who was kicked out and who just joined them. knocking at the practice room’s door, she peeks her head in. “jongsuk-ssi!” she greets with a smile. “have you eaten lunch yet?”

being the workaholic that she was, hyuna did tend to forget she could relax. catch a break, a breather. this was nothing new, having someone take her out of her usual state of running late for lunch. however, it did surprise her to see that it was jongsuk. she welcomes him with a wide smile either way. “it’s not my choice to not show up! i promise!” she says, hands raised up in a defensive position.

it was pretty sad to hear that, she loved variety shows, however she wasn’t the best at them. she had a lot to learn before she felt comfortable enough to get out there more. “i wish i could come by more! it’s loads of fun!” hyuna insists, with a wide smile. “we should go get lunch?” she suggests, brows raised ever so slightly at jongsuk “my treat, for the fact that i’ve been missing so much, hmm?”

Jongsuk laughs when she states that it’s not her choice to not show up, and shakes his head with a wide grin. “I’m just teasing, hyuna, my dear,” he exclaims, grinning. He loves his girls and he doesn’t care if they show up or not at idol café since he always sees them in the company anyways. He’s probably obnoxiously one of the biggest fans of k.arma and he just wants to see them dominate the world over all the other girl groups.

He ponders the suggestion that she offers of lunch and he nods. “lunch sounds pretty good! Actually I wanted to treat you, since I rarely ever see you since you’re all sequestered away like nuns praying for a comeback when ya’ll aren’t promoting!” he exclaims, grinning with a wink at her. He’s actually quite happy about this turn  of events. “where should we go?” he asks, thinking

perfomance: september evaluation 2020      zodiac stage: virgo  ||  trait: sensitive       song: Waving Through A Window - Dear Evan Hansen Musical (Ben Platt) 

jongsuk was eager to sing again. the past few evals focusing on modelling and group work were great, but jongsuk shined the most when he was on his own. he’d spent the month practicing his singing again and this month had been like yet another eye opener for him. He wanted to be more than just a trainee, but he was sure that his turn was coming soon. 

he liked waving through a window, it was a song very high key in touch with who he was and where he was. On the last day of the month, Jongsuk waited for his turn in the Seocho building. Most were in groups, some were solo like him, but Jongsuk didn’t care. He was there to sing again. Prove that he was totally worthy of any singing in the future. He was the one trainee at trc to be feared with his skills and his years of experience. He’s spent time on his high notes, his live singing everything. It was how things worked in his brain. When it came to his turn finally, he strolled into the practice room at seocho with a grin. “Is it shocking that someone like me is a virgo? Perfectionist, judgmental, analytical and sensitive? I wouldn’t think so!” he exclaimed with a grin. He then took a polite bow. 

He was ready to sing and so he began singing. The beginning of the song was soft and he sang softly, matching the feeling. There was almost no stumbles in the beginning and even heading into the pre-chorus, he was still steady on his vocals.

He was used to this feeling. This small and insignificant feeling. The glass and the window was that idol dream that seemed so far out of his reach. He hit those minor high notes in the middle of the chorus and going into the third verse, the one popularized by Tiktok, his voice got stronger. He was showing off those vocal skills of his.

He could relate. He had signed his first contract after the mgas, hoping that he would be good enough to debut soon, bus as time went on, his friends debuted, and he was left in the dust. He thought that he could be the one to stand on that stage and shine alongside everyone else but even when he wasn’t chosen as a center in the samsung concert last year, that still hurt. that jut told him that he wasn’t meant to be the rising star.  Hitting that chorus before the bridge, he decided to show off those high notes of his and he ended up going up an octave which didn’t change the feeling that he was going for.

Jongsuk kept singing, hitting the right notes. One could see that he was a well practiced singer and that he’d spent years honing his craft. After all, this was what he was good at. Upon finishing, he felt pretty happy and he bowed with a casual wink.

The Bunny ||

It wasn’t even Halloween and yet jongsuk already was in total Halloween mood. After all, the arrival of fall meant spooky season and pumpkin spice, so he’d already traded out his usual style, for a plaid flannel mix with a beetlejuice style jacket. The crowning glory on top of his eccentric style of dress were a pair of fluffy pink bunny ears, matching his unofficial easter bunny title at trc. that was his whole fun thing that he always did with  new trainees whenever he saw them around the company. offer up candy, like the easter bunny and then disappear away. 

he ran into one of those new traineess that he hadn’t had the time to meet yet while he was adjusting his jacket on the way into practice. “ah! you are a new human!” he exclaimed. he remmeberd that there was a few new kids joined in the summer so he finally now had a chance to meet one of them. “i’m lee jongsuk, trc’s easter bunny! it’s a pleasure to meet you my delightful human!” he exclaimed

although everyone was busy doing something and minding their own business, it was still hard to find a quiet place in the building to do his homework during the break. taking a nap or going out to buy a cup of iced coffee sounded like better ideas, but he was never the type to procrastinate when he had important stuff on his way. with some music playing as usual, he did what he could to concentrate and ignore the trainees and staff passing by him, glad that his subject wasn’t one that he was struggling with. however, it didn’t take take long until someone decided to talk to him.

“huh? ah hyung… hi!” seunghun bowed his head, pausing the song he was listening to and closing his notebook to pay attention to the other.  eyebrows raised in confusion at the sudden request, seunghun nodded. “okay, i’m done with homework.” he shrugged with a grin. “octave jump sounds good or?” he didn’t mind either way, never really competitive to worry about the results. actually, he was almost convinced they were just going to fool around and not take it seriously. “let’s find a practice room first! shall we?” he suggested before getting up and grabbing his stuff. 

jongsuk liked to have fun. even in free practice times, he was either napping, snacking or at a cafe drinking coffee or hot chocolate. homework? well, he hadn't done any since graduating from high school. he was eager to play around more, since it was a break and he could do what he wanted during breaks. he had spent the time prior to finding seunghun, wandering the hallways and being the usual annoyance that he was in general. he wanted to get this frustration out of his friends having debuted and him still being stuck behind the scenes with nothing happening for him. 

he grinned when seunghun had acknowledged him. he wanted a vocal battle with the other and when he found his request accepted, he grinned. “ah, good! i had almost a whole speech prepped in case you didn’t want to,” he stated. octave jumps sounded exactly right up his alley. “hell yeah,  that sounds great,” he said, grinning. most likely, yeah, it wouldn’t be much compettion and mostly goofing off, but still it would something vocal related and still something fun. “yeah, a practice room would help. i didn’t see any while i was wandering around so maybe well find one togther,” he added.

preparation: september evaluation 2020    zodiac stage: virgo  ||  trait: sensitive  

Jongsuk supposed that he knew himself better than most, having built his entire brand off himself. With this evaluation, he was happy that he got to sing again and even more so that he was allowed to work solo, since the point was a song associated with his zodiac sign. Being a September baby was quite fun, since that made him a virgo by sign. By personality most people thought him to be Aries or Cancer or god forbid, Scorpio, but Jongsuk prided himself on his perfectionist ways and analytical methods that had pushed him in the pursuit of his own dreams and goals. Sure, he seemed like a chaotic party boy, but that was just the image that he projected. It looked to be a good idea to dive a little deeper and give the coaches a bit of a shock since he didn’t really go to his sensitive side too much. 

In his research for songs relating to his sign, he’d learned a few interesting things about himself in the process. According to the traits that Virgos had, sensitivity was a major one: ‘Virgos are sensitive. They hate when someone gives them long advice. They do not like to be judged upon their actions or interrogated.’ Jongsuk could see himself agreeing with that statement. He had been rather disappointed at the spop and then all his friends debuting made him feel a little insignificant. He wanted to debut but in the very least, his hosting duties on spop were enough to keep him occupied. Would he get the opportunity next year? He rather liked being at trc, but this was halfway through his fifth year now. 

As he began thinking of potential songs that he could do, he decided to go out of the korean songs sphere and look at musicals in the states. He’d always loved musicals. The songs were sweet and relatable. Then he realized that he knew the perfect song. It was viral meme (part of it) on Tiktok which suited his chaotic nature but the full song was just beautiful with a message and a vibe that he thought would suit him.  Waving through a Window from the Dear Evan Hansen was a good choice. 

It was a song with some high notes, with some feelings so he could practice simultaneously his vocals and his high notes as well, making sure to cement that dream position of his as a future main vocalist. He may have spent the past few months slacking off and being lazy, but he was still a vocalist to be feared. His talents would once again show themselves.

Jongsuk had been slacking off on his vocal practices for a while so he supposed there was plenty of time to be surpassed. Honestly, regular practice was getting boring for him so he aimed to spice up by seeking out the one person who could take his spot in any upcoming trc boy group.  Seunghun was goood, but Jongsuk liked to think that he was better. After all four years and his single skill honed to near perfection. He wandered the hallways of trc building humming to himself as he walked.
