I like how each Robin is the light to Batman's darkness in different ways because they all mean something different to Batman due to coming into his life at different stages
Dick Grayson - His the sunlight that shines ever so rarely in Gotham and is hope reincarnate, the hope of Batman and Gotham
Jason todd - Jason's like fire, warm and caring to Gotham's most troubled but scorching and burning to those who deserve it
Tim Drake - A lightbub, the poor imitation of the sunlight or the warmth of a fire but no less useful and bright
Stephanie Brown - She's a small candle that's starting to dim after long hours of hopelessly trying to light up the room
Damian Al Gual Wayne - Damian is the stars in the night, light enough to see and notice but still surrounded in darkness

i feel like a lot of Jason and Bruce's relationship can only be explained if you understand the depth of Jason's isolation while living with Bruce and the depths of codependency the dynamic fostered.
Unlike Jason's predecessor and his successors, Jason never had a superhero team. He wasn't deeply connected to the superhero community. He didn't really even have friends. His world was school, the manor, and Batman and Robin. Robin, being a piece of his identity and his first sense of belonging. Batman and Robin as a dynamic requires synchronicity and a lack of questioning. It's about doing what Batman says. Jason, who lived in constant fear of being abandoned again, or kicked out, did his damnedest to not step a toe out of line. Jason was looking for safety and a parent who loved him, and Bruce stepped into that role in a way Jason had never experienced before. (mind you, Bruce himself was dealing with the conflicts regarding his relationship with Dick and no longer have Dick's presence.)
When Bruce and Jason started to have tensions themselves over 'excessive force' and the Garzona's situation, that read to Jason like rejection. And rejection, in a codependent relationship is cause for severe alienation and isolation. Jason had zero people to turn to; and the single person he loved most in the world didn't trust him anymore. Bruce had ripped the little bit of emotional safety that Jason felt away. So Jason went to find a mother who might want him.
point is: Jason Todd can never leave Bruce Wayne. Not in the way his other siblings can. Bruce Wayne is the center of his universe, and the only person Jason ever fully trusted. Jason wrapped his identity into being loved by Bruce, into being the son of Bruce. Into being Batman's Robin. Which is why being replaced felt like confirmation of all of his worst fears. It's why nobody else seems to understand the depths of this betrayal the way Jason does. Jason thinks his relationship with Bruce is normal. He thinks that Tim has replaced Jason in this codependent bond. That Tim has somehow played the part better than Jason did.
It's why Red Hood can't ever move on without Bruce proving to him that he is worth killing the Joker for. It's why Jason keeps crawling back to the batfamily despite the constant cycle of abuse and conflict. Bruce is gravity, Bruce is the sun, and Jason's world revolves around him and what Bruce says about him. If Bruce says Jason isn't worth it, then he's not. If Bruce says Jason is, then he is. They're soOOoO "Love me like a god and I'll betray you like a man" "I bet on losing dogs" "i'm going to die in the universe you loved me in (before you decided you didn't)" "I was fifteen when you left and I have been fifteen ever since" "losing your faith in your parents feels like losing faith in your religion"
@prlssprfctn <- bless you for this panel <3

A very important trait about Jason that people don't talk about enough is that Jason loves. Even after dying and coming back vengeful and hurt, Jason still loves Gotham and its people. A part of Jason still loves Bruce as well. Jason cares and loves so much it's what made him such a good Robin. Love and care run through his veins and spill out through his pores, and it's such an important part of his character that people disregard for literally no reason

Pssst...hey... Alfred can't be "good" if Bruce is "bad"
If Bruce is written as abusive and obsessed with "the mission," then logistically, ya gotta write Alfred as an enabler/accessory to the abuse.
It is impossible for Alfred to be there throughout all Robins, be first witness for multiple years with multiple children "suffering" and still have the kids be like: "Oh well, Alfred is still an angel, though." They would've known he hadn't helped them.
Imagine a building is on fire, and someone just stands there and watches it. They didn't start it, but they also don't try to put it out. They don't help anyone get out. They don't even bother calling for help. Yet, they still get a medal for their bravery??
There would only be 2 ways that Alfred could be seen as a "loving grandfather" if he
1. Outright stops Bruce by confronting him directly or getting the kids out from the first sign of abuse.
2. If Bruce is at least a somewhat decent father. Sure, he can make mistakes, and he can fumble sometimes. But Bruce can not be actively harmful to the kids for years without Alfred being aware and choosing to leave the kids to fend for themselves.
Alfred would have to be written as a non questions asked, 100% dedicated to only a "True Wanye" kind of butler. He would have to see the kids as not real Wayne's to allow an abusive Bruce to continuously harm them. The kids would know this and hate BOTH of them.

fuck bad mom talia she is a gOOD MOM TO M E she is fucked up and was raised in a cult and her father is. well ra's bUT SHE LOVES HER BABIES ION EVEN FUCKING CARE she loves damien, that is her lovely boy, and she did everything she thought she should to prepare him for the world and maybe they didn't bake cookies together or have soccer practice but that woman absolutely adored her son. you can't tell me she didn't play with him when he was a baby and wipe milk on his eyebrows to make them thicker even if she knows it is silly and you can't tell me she didn't have him in her arms constantly. and she loves jason (judd winick i pray your arches are flat and your sinuses always infected), she loves that little trauma factory and she would strangle the joker with her bare hands if jason let her and you can't tell me she looked at this 18 year old boy who still feels 15 and isn't used to being alive or this huge yet and just decided well who fucking cares. SHE CARES. she let him hold damien and probably showed jason how to feed him and change him and they taught him to walk together and had a competition will damien say 'mama' or 'jay' first and she LOVES HER BOYS. they were trained as weapons - she thought it best for them
also whenever damien gets a little too bold jason reminds him that he changed his goddamn dipers so pipe down you silly little creature, jason has baby pictures and isn't afraid to use them

Jason Todd arrives to the Gotham after being brought back alive for the first time, and while building up his career as Red Hood, visits Harvey Dent in the Arkham. They talk in a surprising peace, discuss this and this, and Jason even shares some of his insane ass lore, because, honestly, who is going to believe Harvey Dent?
And no one doesn't.
But there is a problem. The next time Bruce Wayne visits Harvey, Harvey randomly drops a bomb on him by saying that he is so, so glad that their Jaylad is back, and he grew up so much, looks so much like Bruce now! He even tries to assure him that, you see, yeah, Jason was dead, but he crawled out of his grave, and then, the Lazarus Pit fixed him!
Bruce thinks Harvey finally had reached the end of his line. Like, low-key, the last stage of insanity.
Harvey: God, he is still so well-mannered. I feel so pleased that he came to visit old me first, though. I always thought I was his favourite over you.
Bruce, laughing awkwardly, while asking the medics to add some new medicine to Harvey: Ahaha, yeah, that sounds like our Jaylad.
Harvey: Super happy for him, seriously. I mean, look at him, getting himself a new career as a Red Hood. That's our son. Feel a little bit bitter that he is into Al Ghuls family now, but that's fine.
Bruce, frowning, because Harvey isn't supposed to know about Al Ghuls and their connection to Lazarus Pit or about Red Hood: Uh, had J-Jason said something else to you?
Harvey: Oh, damn, we spoke for the whole night. He was pissed at you, though. Like, for the Tim guy, whoever he is.
Bruce, turning to the doctors: ...Maybe, uh, give me the same pills you gave him. I feel like I need it, too.

I have a Superbat headcanon that’s very much inspired by the "cat my dad said he didn’t want" meme. But Damian’s version.
So, in this universe, Superbat has been established for a couple of years by the time Damian joins the family. All of Bruce's other kids adore Clark — they think he’s the best thing that ever happened to Bruce. But Damian? He refuses to accept “the alien” as his father’s partner. For the first month, he’s adamant about it, making it very clear he does not approve, and being very antagonistic towards Clark.
But one night, Bruce comes home late from patrol, and as he’s walking through the house, he passes the living room. There, on the sofa, is Clark fast asleep — and Damian, sound asleep on his chest. Bruce, of course, takes a picture and immediately sends it to the Batfam group chat.
Dick wastes no time replying with the quote: “The dad Damian said he didn’t want.”
And honestly? I think that’s adorable. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Imagine if some Gothamites actually has this some sort of small fandoms within the internet where they actually argue who bruce/batman's lover actually is or who's ship seems to be more canon.(But with a twist cuz batkids would literally get in to this type of stuff)
Dick with a username "@ nightwingluvr6000": NO NO LISTEN LISTEN. CATWOMAN?? AND BATMAN?? DEF A PERFECT COMBO. I WAS LITERALLY THERE AND SAW IT WITH MY OWN EYES.
Jason "@ ykredhood69": OGs will know that Hal Jordan actually casually flirts with the batman from that one clip..outdid all of your faves smh.
Steph "@ thatpurplegirl": Screw all your ships, have you seen the chemistry between two face and batman? THE TENSION WAS THERE. IT WAS SO VISIBLE I COULD SEE IT IN THE AIR.
Cass "@ pitchpancake": Pussies, have you seen the way he and that one guy interviewer flirts with each other?they literally take the whole damn cake out of all of this.
Damian "@damiedraws" : imagine arguing the dumbest sh1t on the internet like unemployed fools with nothing better to do with their lives than argue like 7 year olds. Real ones know that SuperBat is the realest out there, much more real and clear than your 20/20 vision.
Duke, reading the entire beef on twitter: Wow, i expected you to side with Dick or even ship Bruce to your own mother but never expected you to be a superbat fan.
Damian: He treats me ice cream.

I hate the fact that the subtitles are not coordinated, it's because capcut was lagging, my phone's a damn potato 😭😭😭😭

I really think Damian would crush on Jon after, idk, a difficult mission where he lost all hopes and Jon remained positive and at the end smiled at him, telling him something like: see? I told you everything was going to be okay!
However, I don't think Jon crushed on Damian while being Robin. Damian is very bossy (SuperSons are proof enough), I think he crushed on Damian when they were just... chilling, yk? Maybe after spending a day in the manor and seeing how caring Damian is or something like that.
I did this in a hurry, I think you can see it because I didn't want to color it, my lazy ass was NOT going to color like 20 drawings, ain't no way 😭😭😭😭✋
Edit: NOOO, I EDITED THE SIZE AND NOW THE SUBTITLES ARE CUT OUT OF SCREEN RAAAAAH PAIN
