broken hearts bleed the same // marauders + y/n
wherein Remus Lupin finds that he and the person of his dreams will both be broken-hearted.
(warning: pure angst </3)
AN: I don't usually write with y/n, so bear with me please. I'll use they/them pronouns for y/n so anyone can read !! -A
Remus transformed every time the moon shone on him. The fact revealed itself only to a few, which included his fellow marauders and one very special person: y/n. He slowly became terrified of y/n, with the fear that he would lose his intellect under the dominance of his werewolf form and injure his beloved. Certainly, they weren't his, but in his mind y/n most certainly was. Nobody could hold a candle to them; they were simply beyond any imperfections.
"Moony?" y/n called, snapping him out of his trance. He glanced up from under the shade of the clock tower, grabbing his astronomy homework as he stood. Y/n's lit up face darkened at the sight of Remus' demeanor - his shoulders shrugged up and a shadow of a frown on his face.
"N/n, I'm sorry," Remus began, "but I think I need some space from you." Y/n frowned and tried getting closer, but he held up a scarred hand to stop them.
"Moon- Remus, I didn't do anything wrong, what the fuck are you on?" Remus inhaled sharply, not expecting them to be so blunt. Usually their tone carried on like a feather, but now it held an unmistakable tinge of hurt.
"I... I just think that we don't work."
"We don't work? Did someone hex you stupid? We're the most intelligent students of our year!" Remus knew they were right, but didn't know how to say what was true: that he couldn't maneuver through his complicated feelings for them.
"Not like that, y/n. You're just too much." Sucking in a breath, y/n began to tear up as Remus began to leave the courtyard.
"Fuck you, Remus Lupin. Genuinely."

a painting with a secret // marvel cinematic universe
wherein Peter Parker finds out about Tony Stark's darkest secret.
AN: this takes place before Infinity War -A
part one: "a painting with a secret"
There's a forgotten room deep in the Avengers' tower. Peter thought that he knew of them all - he was wrong.
As the spider-boy flew into the wall of Avengers' tower, gripping to the reinforced glass, he noticed he didn't recognize the room on the other side.
"F.R.I.D.A.Y., what's this room?" Peter asked, and immediately the AI responded by dropping him to the nearest terrace, one belonging to Natasha Romanoff. He knocked on the glass until the sleepy Avenger opened the sliding door.
"Peter?" She asked, watching him haphazardly remove his mask.
"Black Widow ma'am, do you know about the room above yours?" She shook her head, suddenly seeming much more awake.
"What's in there, Peter?" He shrugged and glanced around Natasha's room, before finding the object of his search.
"I'll be back," Peter responded, shooting a web to the ceiling vent and pulling it off with ease. Before she could even begin to argue, he jumped into the vent's tunnels and began to crawl upwards. Peter got about a few feet towards the next room up before he heard a voice behind him.
"If you're going to make someone curious, expect them to follow you." He shivered at the sound- Natasha's voice always terrified him half to death- but kept climbing until he found the right vent. Pushing it off its hinges and hearing the clang as it hit the floor, Peter dropped to the tiled floor and heard Nat land almost silently behind him.
"Black Widow ma'am, whose that?"
There was a moment of silence, until Natasha cleared her throat and glanced at what Peter had been staring at.
"That's Tony, and his daughter Maria."
"Mr. Stark has a daughter?!" Peter shouted, causing Natasha to cover his mouth with her gloved hand.
"Quiet kid, we don't need the whole tower to know." He removed her hand and his mouth gaped at the portrait. It contained an image of a rather young Tony Stark, definitely from before his life as an Avenger, and a toddler attached to his hip. Her black curls bobbed to her chin as she beamed towards the viewer, and Peter could almost hear her laughter through the painting.
"She's adorable," he whispered, getting closer to read the plaque on the bottom. 'Tony and Maria II Stark, 2006'.
"She was born six years before he became Iron Man," Natasha explained, pulling Peter away from the painting softly. "Tony hasn't heard from her since she was nine." He glanced down at his phone, and typed in the words 'Maria Stark', but all that came up was the elder Maria: Tony's mother.
"I have to get out of my suit, thanks for telling me all this Black Widow ma'am." Natasha nodded and watched Peter slide back up into the vents.
About twenty minutes later, Peter stood in front of the home of Amelia Foster and a seventeen year old named Maria, who on her Instagram had a striking resemblance to the portrait. Before he could raise his hand to knock, the door pulled open from the inside.
"You're Peter Parker, you work for my deadbeat dad."

a secret worth telling // marauders + oc
wherein James Potter deals with a crafty Slytherin, who isn't all that bad.
AN: this is my first fic series about the marauders, so if I get information wrong please don't flame me !! -A
part one: "did you really have to be that honest"
James Potter had a problem. Specifically, a Daphne Upton problem.
He had enough of the Slytherin's ability to get under his nerves, her mossy green eyes kindling this unparalleled flame within him; James decided he needed to confront this girl before his casual demeanor exploded.
"Daphne!" He shouted, stumbling into the Great Hall, silently cursing Sirius for tripping him on the way in, as most of the hall's occupants now turned to face the entering marauders. Luckily, the object of his uncanny feelings included herself in the gawkers, those eyes of hers meeting his rather fiercely as she rose to her feet to meet the marauders.
"James?" Daphne asked, her voice practically sending shockwaves of emotion into him. James bit his lip as Sirius cackled out laughter, slinging his arm over the nervous Gryffindor's shoulder.
"I- I think you're- um, I think you need to leave me alone," James rushed out, missing the hurt flash across Daphne's face as he glanced anywhere but at her. "You're a git and I hate it. I hate it so much." The awkward sentences couldn't have been loud enough to be heard by the entire hall, but it had been heard loud and clear by it's intended target. Tearing up, Daphne couldn't help to glance over at the other marauders, who simply stared at James in stark horror.
"You're the git, James Potter. I've been nothing but civil to you and you go humiliating me? Did you really have to be that honest?" Before James could respond, or even comprehend why his stomach had sunk so deep that he felt ill, Daphne pushed past him and ran out, silently letting the tears she had been holding in fall.
