Homegrown pears in a textured pot on this misty morning. Tactile & functional I think this pot really epitomises everything I love about my work. I always aim to create pieces that are both contemporary and useful. This November Ruby Cubes will be three years old and for me it has always been about bold.thoughtful.living ⚫️🙏🏼🌿 https://www.instagram.com/p/BogJDQQnSLI/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=830d8lvkmpwr

Sunday evening musings // you’ll miss me, when all of my leaves turn and fall to the ground and all you will see is my bare branches through the cold months. Oh no I replied, I do marvel at you as you are now with your gorgeous green canopy - but, when your leaves turn and fall and your branches are bare, I can appreciate the winters sky above you. Be it starlit, moody or brilliant blue crisp, I will delight in its many forms until Spring brings back your green and hides the skies once more. ******** A poetic reminder to myself to always look beyond what is directly in front of me and seek inspiration everywhere https://www.instagram.com/p/BoFZKe2nfIM/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=tfq58g0axm3m

Zero waste goals. I have a huge pile of rope offcuts in the studio, so whilst I wait for the new delivery I’m clearing some space by using up the pile and taking this deep breath before the “work storm” by exploring patterns & making these one off artisan bowls. What do you think? I’ve always been a fan of geometric and bold patterns. This one is called reflections and I made it with many pieces of 6mm which is why there’s lots of block sections of thread. https://www.instagram.com/p/BoBYDRXnAEC/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=4md1sd5sqtuv

A “contemporary curated harvest festival” is how I would describe this scene. Anyway it was a lot of fun creating this as my home page image for the new collection, which I’ve written a little blog about (link in profile) if you want to know more. Meanwhile I best cook up a beautiful ratatouille to use up this fabulous produce 🍅🍅🍅 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn84U7Tn7fC/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1abj2f25wzxcx

Textured pots ~ I experienced a rather manic period of creativity this afternoon where I created these rather thrilling textured pots. The unexpected surgery & hospital stay made me feel a sense of unreality and other worldliness and I was finding it hard to ground myself. Although it’s used up my energy for today it was a wonderful feeling to get excited about making again and this design came from quite a deep emotional space within myself (jeez calm down it’s just a pot I can hear you say) but I feel as though this piece came from a different place and perspective in my heart. Life is bumpy and imperfect and beautiful and sometimes ugly and frightening too. Our lives are a tapestry of all of our experiences. my recent experience has taught me that life is finite and that I need to put my energy into the things that are important. I have learnt that I want to make things that have heart, as well as aesthetic and purpose and to find a way to balance art & design together in a more cohesive way. I think I’ll write a blog to fill out my thoughts on this but for now I need a cup of tea and a lovely sit down. ❤️ https://www.instagram.com/p/BnopKnAn4L9/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=6ohpniouylsh

The title of full time textile artist is a very broad umbrella. Textiles are such a massive spectrum and right now my practice is very rooted in the 3D with the cotton rope - but it’s good to try different things. I made this dream catcher for my daughter, out of materials I already had. A Willow wreath, driftwood, textile paints, polished jute and of course rope. It’s a very minimal finish but I’m really pleased with how it turned out, I think I might have to make a larger one to go above my own bed. What do you do to keep yourself refreshed artistically, I’d love to hear ... https://www.instagram.com/p/BnGQbAZnd8T/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=cejk18sl76g5

Tassel dishes at one of my lovely stockists @meandeast . I make these in so many colours but for the markets this season I’m trying to condense how many colours I make of each piece to help with stock control and stall display (isn’t business just so exciting!) but I love all the colours so this will be a challenge for me hahahahaha. Maybe I’ll just have to make them in every colour after all 😆❤️💛💚💙 https://www.instagram.com/p/BnAzUqvnjub/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=6mnnfpb8v4yo

If it wasn’t raining so much I would be outside gathering up our garden fruits and indulging in flipping through recipe books and prancing about the kitchen like the domestic goddess I can only dream of being. But it is tipping it down so instead I’m catching up on admin, whilst my 5 year old chills out in front of the telly and I think about all the things we’d still like to squeeze in during this last week of the summer hols........ and contemplate whether I can sneak in a little nap somewhere when nobody’s looking so I can dream about all the yummy crumble I’m going to make with our garden apples 💤💤💤🍎🍏🍎🍏🍎🍏 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ https://www.instagram.com/p/Bm8MEIlnbkU/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1x7jv2litqe0w

Nude hanging planter. Today is a sewing marathon for me so I gotta get cracking but thought I’d leave this here. New painted pots and two new thread colours are coming to the website this autumn and I’m super excited about it! 🙌🏼 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bm0IinTnCSP/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=wpzbi73x5gay

The late summer evening light is just beautiful tonight, the studio is ablaze with its heart. I love this part of the year when the nights are just starting to draw in and the light is a shimmering honey gold that reminds me of harvesting and fruit crumble. Soon at this time of day it’ll be pitch black and the curtains will be drawn and there’ll be other things to occupy the mind. 🌞🌼🍂 https://www.instagram.com/p/BmwIFevHa18/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1f3p6r0lzeb0

Pops of colour for a gloomy Tuesday. I’ve been thinking a lot about the paint recently and methods for pot decoration. I’ve an idea for a few experiments I can try so as always watch this space 👀 . In other news I’ve got a full days sewing ahead of me so I’m off to grab a coffee and get stuck in 👊🏼💙 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bmu7-ewnxVS/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=6lrwfhyfajaj

Apples from our garden. All the sunshine has made our apples super rosy this year. Unfortunately half of them have already been eaten by wasps but we are still gathering plenty to freeze for our winter stores. The fruit on our pear tree isn’t ripe yet, This is the first year we’ve had pears grow - does anybody know when it’s usual to harvest pears? the weather is quite autumnal here so I think we are going to have a chilled weekend at home, wishing you all a good one whatever your plans may be 🙏🏼🍐🍎🍏 https://www.instagram.com/p/BmnHquZnah4/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=actb7222t7x6

Dreaming of sunny cityscapes this morning as it’s fantastically rainy here. I’ve written a little blog (mostly photos tbh) which is live on the website now. At least the cooler weather is making it easier to be in the studio (although the summer hols are making it harder 😂) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bmh-VL-Heo9/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=nmyz5ot8mrsb

Oh I do love to stack my bowls up, apparently in pyramids at the moment! It’s been a tricky week in the studio so far, with a delay in a rope delivery causing some consternation and also reduced Studio hours this week means I’m chasing my tail a bit. But that’s indie business for you and I would find it super boring if it was sweet and light all the time. But you know that these little bumps along the way mean that when it’s smooth sailing - it’s all the more enjoyable for it 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bmc09-KHppO/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1lfwm5r30khp9

Monday moments // my ever growing to do list was making it hard for me to see the wood for the trees recently and I was in danger of reaching overwhelm. So I’m taking steps to make sure I nourish myself before I burn out, as my busy season is just starting to ramp up now and I want to achieve more balance for the rest of the year. For the rest of the summer hols I’ll be checking in with my emails and social media once a day and I’ve joined a local gym to kick start my mornings. This might be really mundane info to share, as on the face of it you won’t see a change on here or in my work ethic. But I know so many small business folks out there and I wanted to say out loud that we should check in with ourselves once in a while and make sure that we are not sacrificing too much for our work. So my new mantra is balance balance balance. ✌🏼🙏🏼👏🏼

I spent the most delightful afternoon in the studio today with my daughter & the talented photographer @viola_de_photography_ . She is helping to put some portraits together for a project called “where are the photos of us” for @motherswhomake . I’m excited that soon I can show you the results of that session but for now here’s a brand new large natural gathering basket which I haven’t decided whether to paint on or not yet💚
