So last night and this evening I took my messy derivative furry boy and tweaked him and cleaned him up, so here is Taliesin with more effort and thought!
He ended up kind of a... hyenadog? Obvs his face and mane are meant to be more hyena-y, but his chest and neck coloring is meant to be reminiscent of the urajiro markings that shiba inu have, on Birdie’s suggestion.
How does he have freckles? Who knows, he’s an anthro hyenadog with a binder and piercings, doesn’t matter. He just has them.

Fuck it, my best attempt! It is not the worst, but also I freehanded while HEAVILY referencing this cute art by TheRoguez on FurAffinity so I doubt I’d be able to replicate it yet.
His name is Taliesin, he’s a coyote-ish person, and I love him. BEHOLD MY FURSONA.
for 2022 i think more people should make fursonas. like even if ur not a furry. do u know what the coolest shit in the world is? just being like “what if i were a weird fish character” or something and then designing them. do u know what the most unironically fun question to get asked is? “do you wanna see my sona” like YES bitch i do
#i do that#taliesin#I may have caught a bug tho i keep looking at him going like#'...i want to draw him more'#if I end up being better at furry art than any previously attempted art style i will die laughing#and then lean into it obviously

Quick scribbles for PaperXmen before bed. I suck at costume design and drawing clothes, but I did my best.

Some people have asked me for this tutorial too, I know that a few informations here are pretty obvious, but I just thought they were valid to include, and it can or cannot work for you, I just hope you find this helpful in someway :)
I’m sorry for any grammar mistake, and I don’t know how to say somethings in english, so I also hope I made myself understandable :P

A Anon asked me for some pointers on how to draw in my style today. I didn’t really know how to write pointers so I thought I would attempt a very minimal tutorial.

There is only one thing missing from that process video: your voice. Yes we get to see your process, but I for one would like to hear it.
I appreciate that, anon! Unfortunately the process video was automatically generated by my art program and I don’t have a way currently to add voiceover to it (or adjust the speed, etc etc).
I also don’t know what I’d say? “hey, it’s me, ruffboiart, and this is a thing i drawed. as you can see, many lines were erased. Thanks for watching!”f
BUT it’s definitely something I’ll keep in mind if I ever do something a little more controlled :)

sketches of Beau, one week apart with practice and a second ep of PubDraw between them. (also I’m a lil drunk for drawing two)
Honestly if this isn’t proof that practice is how art gets better, and that skill is kind of a fake concept and practice is the important part, I don’t know what is. The 3/4 sketch took about an hour and a half from start to this point, the 3/11 sketch took about half an hour from start to this point
There’s some bits about the first sketch that are more polished than the one from tonight but like. The one from tonight has more life in it, if that makes sense? It feels more like “me drawing a thing” rather than “me poorly copying someone else’s drawing of a thing”
All in all, this is a huge encouragement that I really needed, and I can’t wait to see where my skill goes in the future as I practice and learn more.

One day I’ll learn shading but until then, flats!
This is Calliope Wolcott, an NPC from the DnD campaign I run who was supposed to be an inconsequential NPC and instead was instantly adopted by the party and has since become pretty much their favorite. She’s also dating one of them and it’s painfully cute.
Calliope is a bit shy, eternally upbeat, loves books and old papers and organization, and basically lives in the archives of the organization they all work for with the smoke borzoi her girlfriend accidentally stole from the Plane of Fire, except for when she’s on a date or having tea with her older sister Alex. I love her.
#adventure proficiency#i do that#dnd#calliope wolcott#not her original surname but she (like her sister) has flipped their parents the bird#and she’s taken on Alex’s surname of choice#director wolcott is quite pleased by this#i’m not 100% happy with her hair but I can barely draw STRAIGHT hair#much less hair that does literally anything but vaguely wave#so I’m willing to be proud of myself for managing

Well, the HAIR is definitely better than the original sketch. Also her nose turned out super cute. Not sure about the quality of my lines tho, my hands always tremble, what is a smooth line?
