begging queer kids to read up on princess diana’s involvement with the community. yes, she was a rich, pretty monarch. yes, she died young.

but the reason why queer people love her is because she used her privilege during the aids crisis to advocate for sick queer men, when very few others would - much less someone of her status.

diana spent years advocating for the health and care of queer people with hiv/aids. in 1987, at the height of the epidemic, she opened the first specialist clinic dedicated to treating aids patients (the first clinic of it’s kind in the uk).

she also fought public hysteria by hugging and shaking bare hands with aids patients, at a time when aids was thought to be spread by skin to skin contact. not only that, she visited patients in the clinic regularly and even comforted them through their sickness.

and when queen elizabeth told her to try focusing on “something more pleasant”?

diana ignored her and kept fighting.

and this is only her work towards the aids crisis. she publicly called out the royal family, brought attention to numerous world issues, and was known as an advocate for empathy and kindness. she’s known and loved as the people’s princess for good reason

Now that Britney Spears is free, she’s inevitably going to do something weird and off-putting because she was in a long term traumatic situation with very little control of her life and getting your shit together is hard in the best of times and that does shit to a person and I’m genuinely afraid the public who has been rooting for her for so long is going to turn on her and even start questioning whether or not it’s good for her to be free of the conservatorship and people are gonna need to remember that the answer to that question is unequivocally yes

I love that in the ten years I've been on tumblr, tumblr users' attitude towards tumblr has come full circle, now we're back where we started at "tumblr is our beloved home, no other social media can compare, no other website has what we have, do not trust other websites, do not tell the outsiders about us", only this time we're like. people on here give yoda a lot of shit and say that he was a bad mentor but i’d like to contest that Yoda is and has always been cool as hell and the real problem was that in the days of the Republic he was forced into a shitty managerial position, where he had to worry about paperwork and massive unauthorized clone orders and vetting chosen ones and shit like that when really all he wanted all along was to be a delightfully shitty impish little grandpa living in a hut giving cryptic advice to teenagers

Lolita elements database

Hello everyone!

I’m not a lolita, but I really love the look of classical lolita. Because I would like to incorporate lolita elements into my sewing, I made my own lolita elements database.

I went through all of the dresses and skirts of Mary Magdalene, Innocent World and several other smaller brands on Lolibrary. I saved the ones I liked, broke them down to their smallest possible elements (button placket decorations, collar types, hemlines, skirt surface decoration types, …) and deleted the doubles. After that I drew them on several pages. This allows me to throw the proverbial dart at each page, combine them and end up with a complete dress.

My other main interest is Edwardian fashion, so not every element here comes from lolita. It’s also only what I like, and not an exhaustive list (lol imagine)

I made this for myself, but perhaps y'all might benefit from my project too! I scanned the pages (with my very bad scanner), cleaned them up and translated all the Dutch. Hopefully Tumblr won’t resize them too much.
