It’s easy to think of average American movie dads as the example. I grew up considering myself as fatherless, they got separated while I was still 4 months developed. I never played ball with anyone. I was never taught how to shave by him. They never drove me to school, or went to pick me up, or went to events I participated in. He visited me only once a year, and it wasn’t even to visit me, just to talk to my mom about a DNA test.

A week ago was my birthday. I got two texts, “Good afternoon kid happy birthday”, “Hope you’re happy”

And I considered life, I thought about it.

I was happy, somewhat. But it was not thanks to him.

Now my family scolds me for not considering him my dad, why would I? When he doesn’t consider me his son, when he never changed a diaper, when I never got to see him as a father figure.
