Ivan Karamazov - 1800s

This one isn't really about what he would look good or feel comfortable in, but rather the fact that he reminds me of a bitchy tortured Austen man. And that's coming from someone who doesn't like Jane Austen in the slightest. I like Ivan well enough though. I guess. Honorable mention to 1910s men's fashion though.

Mitya Karamazov - 1830s

Big strong man with wide shoulders and a grabbable chest? In 1860s fashion??? The shapeless boxy hell that is 1860s men's fashion? He was robbed. So hard. Put that man in a tight-fitting hourglass-shaped puffy-sleeved coat. For the love of god. Why did he have to be born in 1839? This is the worst thing Dostoyevsky has ever done to me.

Pavel Smerdyakov - 1840s

Dandyism PEAKED in the 1830s-40s. He can get a little cunty with it. He deserves that much.

Lise Khokhlakova - 1840s

I don't care if she's only a supporting character. I'm including her because she's very dear to me. There's something youthful but melancholy about 1840s fashion. Lise</333 be happy..

Katerina Verkhovtseva - 1870s

I think a good bustle would fix her. Also PLEASE appreciate the picture I picked because those ladies remind me SO MUCH of the homoeroticest girlies of all time katya and grushenka. Is that not how that scene with them went?

Alyosha Karamazov - 1880s

Something about late Victorian fashion that just screams Alyosha. He's no dandy but he still wants to look nice. Yes this is influenced by his clothes in the latter part of the Soviet adaptation. He looks good in this American sack suit style.

Grushenka Svetlova - 1900s

This one was really difficult to decide because any era is a Grushenka era. In the end I decided that late 1900s fashion works well for her. It's graceful and feminine, but quite modern, and definitely not well-received by everyone.

7. Gah, Grushenka is both gorgeous and adorable always, in everything, but especially especially when she’s all bundled up with a shawl over her head framing her face!!! Stop, I want to die.

22. Oh boy, I have a vast vault of Grusha headcanons that I will hopefully get to sprinkle throughout the tbk retelling I’m writing. But a small one for now: I headcanon that she’s always had such a knack for numbers and easily and quickly does maths in her head. I think she also remembers numbers very well.

Hi! I’m going to split my Fandom Ask Game questions into 2 separate asks because I have questions for 2 different characters/fandoms. I hope that’s okay! 😅 (feel free to not answer if you don’t wanna)

This first one is about Nastasya from “The Idiot”: 

5. Out of all your fanworks that include Nastasya, which is your favourite?

Of COURSE it’s ok, it’s more than okay! I’m so excited to answer these!!

5. I would say my favourite is probably “No More Such Nights.” I made myself cry so much writing that one. But a close runner up would be “What Money Can Buy” just because that one is so excruciatingly uncomfortable and sad and just !!!! It gave me so many emotions too.

15. I think so. The first fic that I wrote with these two (“A Razor Wrapped in Silk”) which at the time was the only one I planned to write, feels so different to the others to me that I keep thinking about rewriting it. But I’m not sure I’ll get around to it.

17. Oh boy. Well, canonically we know she loves to study and read books, and that her reading tastes encompass everything from history to Madame Bovary. But what popped into my mind is that I went through a phase of reading TONS of pop psychology, and I don’t know, I could just really see modern au Nastasya getting super into that.

I don't know what it is you may be going through, but I've experienced what you're feeling with trauma before. I just hope you're doing okay, and know that you're far from the first to feel the way that you feel. The feelings come in waves, and then it passes. The absurdity is just trying to find some place to go, and then it won't feel so heavy anymore. But be gentle and compassionate with yourself in the meantime, and I hope better days find you soon. 4. Is there a popular pairing you don't necessarily dislike but aren't too invested in?

I’m obviously the most invested in Erik/Christine because that’s what I write, so most things outside of that I’m not super invested in. I have read a couple of Erik/Meg pieces but I wasn’t very much a fan, and while I definitely support and see the logic behind the Erik/Christine/Raoul OT3, I don’t see myself going out of the way to seek out fic revolving around that. Maybe someday I’ll change my mind though!

Okay so I’m taking a lung/respiratory system course right now, and at one point we were talking about the anatomy of the nose and nasal passages and all throughout I could not get our favorite noseless boi out of my head!! Since the external part of the nose (the part Leroux!Erik doesn’t have) acts as a barrier to inhaled particles/microbes, Erik would be a LOT more susceptible to respiratory infections. So it’s probably a good thing he keeps it covered all the time especially around other people, not just for aesthetic purposes but because it prevents lots of nasty things from getting in there and making him sick. But I can’t even imagine how gross and uncomfortable a head cold would be for this man 😭

Since I first got into POTO, I have had trouble picking a specific character as my fave: it’s always been a struggle between Erik, Christine, Raoul, and Daroga, because they’re all so great for different reasons!! But I do think I’ve narrowed it down to just one fave: Christine. She’s just PERFECT to me, she’s so kind and genuine and fearless and I relate to her struggles so much. While the others are fantastic characters in their own right, Christine will always be my hero. ❤️

Starting to realise that the fact I’ve never talked about what happened and cannot even write it down in my own journal isn’t because I’m strong and want to silently shoulder that entire burden for the rest of my life, nor is it even because of coming from generations of people who don’t talk about that stuff, but simply that same perverse stubbornness that regularly keeps me from taking my pain pills when I’m in pain or turning on the heater even when I’m uncomfortably cold. Is it a control thing? I don’t know. All I know is since 2024 began, it has been impossible for me to do what I’ve done all these years and just not think about it ever. I never forgot it or repressed it, but I simply didn’t think about it. Now that has become no longer possible—I don’t even know why—and I constantly feel it in my throat as if I’m choking on it. I had to find this post. I read this in 2017 and it had a profound effect on me. I couldn’t stop saying it. It was echolalia. And now to this day, for seven years, I can still quote it perfectly Word for Word and often do when I do something stupid. This is the perfect post in my opinion
