“Mademoiselle de Sade, your notoriety precedes you.” Pale eyes studied the face opposite her own. Marie-Joseph was used to stumbling into deviant characters shed by society in the circles she frequented, but to meet the famed Marquis was a delight indeed.

“You bestow upon Marie a great honour. To have your head would be a joy.” Reaching forward, she sought Danielle’s hand to kiss. “Marie-Joseph Sanson, Prévôte de l'Hôtel. C'est pour moi un plaisir de vous rencontrer.”

       “C'EST LA MÊME CHOSE pour moi,” and she truly wondered on whether that’s all there is to everything in France; the face-value. Your notoriety precedes you, Marie-Josephe said, and it’s a calculated risk that she took in the worsening scale of things within their country. Yet, even with the bits of thoughts in her ever-whizzing mind, she does not forget her manners - she offers a kind, warm smile to Marie-Josephe, delighted over meeting another woman who’s a little like her.

       “Why, in my years, I’ve never thought I’d meet someone like me, even just a little,” Danielle says, truly meaning it. “When I was in the army, I’d wear men’s clothes too - truth be told, they’re very comfortable, aren’t they, Madame Sanson?”

“Marie does not swear by God.” Taking off her hat, Marie-Joseph bowed in courtly fashion towards the stranger. “Enchanté, madenoiselle sans nom. You may keep your name as it is yours, but should our paths cross where you are marched to my blade, please know Marie would gladly have your head.”

       A SIMILAR ACTION; a most respectful curtsy to the woman, who reminded her so much of herself when she was at the battalions many a year back. To gladly have her head nicked off her neck; it’s truly something that she would have expected if her luck should run out, but she laughs despite herself. “Madame, madame, I shall remember those words! Then, I shall give you my name then, as I am thoroughly tickled; I am Danielle, Marquis de Sade.”

“It’s true that the Prévôté de L'hôtel serves the Crown, but Marie is first and foremost an executioner.” Marie-Joseph cocked her head towards the one speaking to her. “My blade cuts down all who step onto my platform as the accused. Blue blood or not, they all bleed red in the end.”

She regarded the stranger, a quick glance from head to toe.

“You know who I am. I can’t say I have the pleasure of recognizing you to a name.”

      “AND THAT IS the ONE thing that I will not give, unless you swear by God that you would not have my head here and now!” There is a certain way to her tone in which the other could try to interpret; either the woman was being playful, or more serious than she could ever let herself on. “Mon Dieu, I was recently on the run, madame; they would arrest anyone and everyone these days! Is our king getting BROKE? He should know that I’m broke MYSELF!”

       teetering back and forth on her heels while considering on whether to annoy monsieur sanson - after all, playing as an annoying little sister does have some perks.

       “THE PEOPLE, OR the crown?” It’s simply one question; something that is ultimately very easy to answer. For in the revolution, there are only two sides, and only one can win. “Then again, Madame Prévôté de L'hôtel, it’s not very wise of me to ask, non?”

“I fail to see how anyone can become upset over a day that’s supposedly for merrymaking and attention for the one you love most.” Really, was it THAT bad to be so ungrateful on such a day? “What do you think of this holiday, then? Are you enjoying it? Loathing it?” 

       “YOU CAN TELL, MONSIEUR, that I’m absolutely enjoying it!” A day where both parties can receive such wonderful confectioneries, unless, of course, one of them would happen to be a most horrible chef, and then the whole palate would be utterly spoiled. “Oh, during my time in France, I would receive quite a lot of chocolate, but most of them weren’t from the one I loved most. The man I loved couldn’t even cook anything other than what they serve in a monastery; but then again, I’d eat anything he’d make!”

       “VERY well, very well....it’s getting nearer to the season, so it’s high time I get my writing up to shape! Let’s talk about six people doing it on a kitchen countertop.”

       A HUFF OF IMPATIENCE, and a most irritated sniff. “All these people complaining and whining about the upcoming festivities, monsieur, and it’s just so unbearable! Can’t they even find the little joys in the chocolates that will be made, and that will be given to them even when they don’t expect it?”
