I swear I am going to start a seminar in How to Exist in Public. We do not block our coworker from getting their food out of one microwave while waiting for our food in the other microwave. We do not walk four carts abreast through the grocery store, nor do we park our cart next to an end cap and wander off to another aisle. We do not start making a left turn we will not be able to complete, thereby bringing the entire intersection to a screeching halt. We do not stop dead in the middle of the hallway to answer a text. We live in a society.

actually there were 0 time travellers on the Titanic, because the time cops have an entire outpost to safeguard that one particular point in history. every rookie spends a least a month on Titanic duty and they all complain bitterly about it since it is, essentially, the time travel equivalent of being the guard who has to stop tourists from licking the Liberty Bell.

Something you have found it interesting to observe changing over time?

The nature of anime fandom/availability of anime. When I started out in the late 80's/early 90's you got anime from the Tape Trading Network. A bunch of people had extensive lists of what series they had on VHS, their own rating, and the quality of their copy. They'd send these lists out to fan clubs, mailing lists, etc, and then start mailing back and forth requesting copies and offering trades based on what other people had and what you wanted.

I was lucky in that I knew a guy who imported laserdiscs from Japan and created subtitled VHS masters himself with his amiga, so my trading list included lots of rare finds like "Macross: Do You Remember Love (Quality: First Generation Master)" and I'd get tons of shows for a single copy of that gem among others.

The idea that anime is available pretty much instantly from anywhere (legally or otherwise) is still incredibly jarring at times.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i went nonverbal, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

Just said "oh boy i sure hope no one puts me in a mating press 😳" and then tried to pose seductively but i moved too fast and immediately wiped out off the bed and now my wife is making fun of me 😞
