It's been a minute ! It's finals season... I feel like everyone's already on vacations lol it's so hard to focus on studying while it's summer, someone finish me.

I have 2 weeks off to prepare for 6 exams

2 written exam

2 partical exams

1 research paper

1 oral exam

I'm thriving really :D

Exam season has begun. Do I need to say more? I redecorated my study space a bit, because the heater next to my desk was removed (it didn’t work anyway). It’s clean and nice. But I’m still waiting for the motivation to kick in. Lab is stressful. Last Friday I worked 10 hours. 10 hours!? I really like this lab and my supervisor is amazing but I’m still glad when it’s over. I have an interview for my next semester internship position. They have a chill vibe from what I can tell from the mails. Let’s see how this plays out.

I’m counting the days to my vacation. Luckily I have the whole September off. And I will do nothing but going on vacation, sleeping in, having coffee for every breakfast, knitting a whole bunch and not think about uni. At all.

A bit of a dull rainy day today

08.07.25 || exam results

I got my results back for the International Law and European Law exam and I did really well! I am very pleased with the result. I spent the rest of the day in the library researching for my term paper. We will get the final topic brief tomorrow and I really hope there won't be any last minute changes, because I quite like the topic I have. I am also still waiting on feedback for my second book - fingers crossed that my editor will like it.

PhD Day 279: I have to submit my State of the Art today... It's not a matter of setting a word goal to reach (I have more pages than necessary already), my problem integrating the three massive blocks of literature I have into a coherent text. Part one I'm happy with, part 2 needs nuance. Part 3 is a mess full of bullet points and incoherent notes.

June Update

It turns out that I have an underlying medical issue that was only addressed last month! I still have some appointments now in July and into August, but I will definitely be doing better in the coming months as I get treatment. Nothing serious, just some issues with my blood sugar levels, but it is a chronic condition and will effect me for a long time or perhaps even the rest of my life.

The summer heat is not doing great things for me either. My seasonal depression happens in the summer as I get too hot and the sun makes everything too bright. I've been staying indoors a lot more to avoid the worst of it. I'm happy that all my friends seem to understand and invite me to events happening indoors or after the sun goes down.

A much shorter update this month, but it was a pretty busy month with all my appointments.

Went on Vacation in June 🤭 got loads of new books 📚 also: applied to a conference, read a lot for my PhD especially about social network analysis and read some new sources, which were great!

6.27.25 | I finally have an excuse to rationalize my stationary runs. Back to school shopping has always been one of my favorite times of year. This time, as a graduate school student, I get to shop, not according to assigned lists or based on my undergrad budget, but based on what I think will optimize my study habits and bring me joy.

I'll be spending this summer like a literal kid in a candy shop 😭😭
