"That's cheerful," you mutter, almost in complete unison with the Voice of the Hero conveying the same sentiment into your mind. The idea of heading underground isn't exactly appealing to you, but you really aren't in the sort of position where you're comfortable questioning the wisdom of that sort of decision.
The person you've chosen to help has a commanding presence. You'd like to consider yourself above being pushed over, but the reality of the situation is that she speaks with such a confidence that you're slower to think twice about the fact that she could very well be leading you into some kind of trap and abandoning you to...
Well, not die, but it's not as if your fate would be pleasant if you were stranded alone underground.
Still, the whole thing is about trust. If nothing else, she might keep you around to use as some sort of shield until she's out of danger, which would in turn necessitate that she keeps you out of danger for as long as possible, too. So, when you do reach the crypt doors, only a few steps behind her, you resolve to answer her question of identity honestly.
"I'm called the Long Quiet," you answer. "It's a bit of a mouthful, but I don't really have a name otherwise. Um, do you have a way of getting this open? I assume it's locked. I can't imagine they'd want people gallivanting off into the crypts unsupervised all the time..."
You don't ask her name, both because you feel as though it's not really the right time to be sating your own non-essential curiosities, and because the action of asking for names tends to escape your sphere of general importance. In the universe you had escaped from, trapped by the endless pattern of restarting and restarting again, names themselves had become irrelevant to you and those of your ilk in the face of action and purpose.
'When we're on the other side of the door, it'd probably be the polite thing to do to ask,' reasons the Hero, who seems to generally make points that make sense, so you resolve to follow his advice.
"It's an old-looking door. If need be, I could probably break it, but I'm not exactly keen on making the entrance to this place more accessible than it already is." You take a quick glance behind you, but you don't immediately spot any guards that are looking your way. Still, you can't imagine you have much time before they catch up, exposed as you are in your current position (and as distinct as the both of you look in comparison to the actual inhabitants of this place).
Just passing by. That could mean a host of different things, some more sinister than others. Of course she noticed the strangers evasiveness, River Song wrote the book on avoiding the truth. That didn't mean however, that she liked it quite so much when other people used it on her. She liked to know she could count on a person, particularly when they were both running for their lives, avoiding certain doom.
The archaeologist stalled for a moment, shooting a discrete glance at the vortex manipulator strapped to her wrist The screen was blinking rapidly, the same two words flashing repeatedly across it, ERROR, OVERLOAD!. Damn it.The time distortion field must've overheated the machine. There'd be no escaping this planet for another two hours at least. They needed to buy time. They? Would she be taking the stranger with her? The thought brought her back to the problem at hand, casting an uneasy look at her new acquaintance.
Were they someone she could trust? Were they a ruse sent by the Duchess of Leto to throw her off her game? Or perhaps, their reasons for being here were far more sinister. Perhaps they were a third party, neither a friend of hers nor the Duchess's, looking to steal the orb for themselves. Stranger things had happened. She pondered that thought as they crossed yet another road and turned right into a vacant town square. She knew this city fairly well, there were dozens of nooks and crannies to hide in, if only for a little while. There'd be no getting away from the guards permanently, They must have had something on them that could track the orb's signature. Or perhaps their frequent exposure to it allowed them to sense it somehow like a homing beacon? Without studying the thing in detail she'd never know, and she couldn't very well do that while they were on the run. Ah, an endless conundrum.
❝ ... All exceptional questions ❞ She murmured outloud, as much to the stranger as to herself. Most of the information they were after required time to explain, and she wasn't so sure she trusted them enough to divulge most of it anyway. Yes, they had literally just died in an effort to aid her, but their presence now really did negate that sacrifice in her books. She almost laughed at that. Look who's talking Song. Alright, on reflection perhaps she was being a tad too harsh. There were some things she could tell them.
❝ The city is built on an underground crypt. Hundreds of tunnels, running underneath where we're standing. We can buy some time down there while we wait. ❞ She didn't expand on what exactly they were waiting for, careful not to give away her only mode of transport off this place. No, she'd not be giving up that little tidbit easily, at least, not without some answers to her questions in return. ❝ The crypt entrance is just up ahead, behind the town square ... ❞
By the time she had finished, the crypt door was just visible behind a large ornate fountain made of polished brass that shone brightly even under the dim street lights. The crypt door in comparison looked like it had seen better day. It's huge handle, the size of a large bowling ball was so rusted with age it looked like it might disintegrate at any moment.
She smiled grimly, ❝ Charming isn't it? .... do you have a name? I'd like to know who I'm descending into what could be the depths of hell with.

Instinct compels you to listen. Perhaps it's because you've already been shot dead once by the woman's pursuers, but you'd rather bet this life on her advice than play the contrarian and ask stupid questions. That can wait until you've made it to a relatively safe position, although something tells you you won't get that chance for a short while.
You take off after her---this planet is largely unfamiliar to you, the lost wanderer that you are. Even if she isn't from here, she seems to have some idea where she's going, and that serves you just fine in your motivation of not getting shot again.
'Besides, it's probably better to trust her than those guards,' interjects the Hero, sensibly. 'Even if she might be making us into some sort of accomplice, she was polite enough not to shoot us on sight. That must count for something.'
"I'm---just passing by. Er, I'm guessing you don't have a lot of time to explain, but what's going on? Why are they after you?" You respond with more questions than proper answers, but you're really hoping to get whatever quick answers you can out of her while you're evading her pursuers. Or, both of your pursuers, now.
For the first time since taking action, you wonder if you'd made the wrong choice by stepping into a situation that hadn't rightly been any of your business. You know so little about the situation---it's possible you're unwittingly helping a criminal who's done something that warrants being caught.
'Sure, but the guards definitely think we're in league with eachother. We'll just get shot again if we do anything other than help her at this point.'
You concede to the Hero's logic. What matters most is getting out of here without another 'death'---you're already struggling to make sense of the voice in your head that the first one has netted you.
"And where are we going?" you ask, because it's the only follow-up question you can think to, time being seemingly short as it is.
It was the kind of night when it just felt like bad luck was about to befall. Every nerve in her body seemed on high alert as Riiver crossed the road, her long woollen coat swaying in the breeze. Perhaps she shouldn't have stolen the time distortion orb from the obelisk of tears, hidden away on a far away planet named Leto, but it hadn't belonged to that planet to begin with and she was almost certain she had saved countless lives in procuring it. Plus, it would fetch a pretty penny in certain circles. She anticipated that the Duchess of Leto would send the elite guard after the thief. What River hadn't predicted is just how persistent they would be. All of the years they had lived, exposed to the time distortion field had imbued them with some of it's properties. When she had time jumped, so had they.
The first time she crossed that road, coat swaying haphazardly, she'd heard the heavy footfalls behind her, but dismissed it until it was too late. She'd turned down the next road, and came up between a brick wall. Behind her, the guard waited. In the darkness, she'd reached for her gun, her hand brushing over the orb by mistake and the orb, vaguely telepathic in nature, had cast it's grey green glow over the scene, re-setting time in the blink of an eye. 3 minutes and 33 seconds to be precise. It was always 3 minutes and 33 seconds. Just as before, she turned down that same dead end, reached for her gun, accidentally awakened the orb and then the timeline began all over again. Talk about deja vu.
There was no way to break the cycle. She'd tried numerous times to interrupt the cycle, turned left instead of right, tried to use her vortex manipulator, attempted to reason with the guards, attempted to shoot the guards. Nothing ever worked. She always found herself right back to the start. So, as the archaeologist crossed the street now for the umpteenth time, coat swaying in the same breeze, it was with the assumption that nothing out of the ordinary would happen. Until it did.
She watched for a second, stunned, as a stranger entered the scene, taking the guards attention away from her and unfortunately for them, promptly paying the ultimate price for it ... it was a touch grim, even for her liking.
Without a second thought, River took off down the street, before the guards could turn around. Who the hell had that been? And how had they entered a time distortion field? And why- her train of thought ended abruptly as she turned the corner and came face to face with the very same stranger, alive and well!
. ❝ Y-yes, I'm aware. They've been following me for a long time now ... ❞ She paused, staring at them wordlessly for a few seconds, ❝ I'm no stranger to cheating death but usually it's a tad more involved than that... who are you? ❞ Behind them, she heard the unmistakable sound of the elite guard, hot on their heels. . ❝ Tell me on the way, we need to get out of here, now! ❞

do you feel similar to your muse in any way?
what was your first muse?
on what platform did you start RPing?
do you feel similar to your muse in any way?
the nature of the long quiet is that he's vague enough to BE the protagonist for a choose-your-own-path visual novel game, so i think the idea is that ANYONE can relate to him. so, yes, but in the kind of vague way that you're meant to relate to the protagonist of a video game. but also yes in specific ways, too. i think what drew me to him is the nature of how he changes based on the choices he makes---it's nowhere near as extreme as the princess, but i always feel a little bit like there are more 'facets' of me the more i grow, rather than just feeling like i've grown. haha, if that makes any sense.
what was your first muse?
on tumblr, my first proper muse was koichi haimawari from bnha: vigilantes, which i believe i've shared before. actually he's a character i still have a fondness for even now despite not having anything to do with that fandom. off of tumblr, it's hard to remember exactly. i'm fairly sure it was a homestuck character---the wayward vagabond, i think. some things really don't change haha. both of those muses were pretty fleeting and i don't think either lasted more than a month or two. as for the first muse who stuck around for a while it was twain, as we're all well aware.
on what platform did you start RPing?
i don't think roleplaying on creative minecraft servers counts in the spirit of the question, so my real first foray into serious roleplaying was on quotev, i think. i'd been on there since i was very young; i actually don't remember how old i was at the time. actually, it had an alright format for text rping but as is the case with most slightly underground fanfiction or forum sites the community could be downright awful. i didn't start rping on tumblr until the summer of 2017 i think but i've almost exclusively written on here and SOMETIMES (not often) discord since moving.

pet.
dialogue prompts from pet by akwaekae emezi.
a lot of things are manageable, if they’re honest.
i can’t name something when i don’t know what it is.
good and innocent, they’re not the same thing.
can’t rely on anything anyone tells you. it’s good to question.
pictures can be misleading.
don’t grow up too fast.
forgetting is dangerous. forgetting is how the monsters come back.
everyone, everything, deserves some time to figure out what to be.
as soon as i wake up, i’ll feel silly i thought this was real.
unpleasant things must be done, for unpleasant purposes. from unpleasant necessity.
you keep lying that lie, liar.
i know you like to forget things, when it’s convenient.
will you be here in the morning?
they left the old days behind for a reason.
i need you to stay.
the first step to seeing is accepting there are things you cannot see.
whenever you’re ready to share, i’m here.
everything looks the same, but nothing is.
words are never enough, for a lot of things.
not everything you know is true.
the truth doesn’t care what you want. the truth is what it is.
the truth doesn’t change, whether it’s seen or unseen.
a thing that’s happening happens, whether you look at it or not.
maybe it’s easier not to look.
i don’t not believe you.
maybe it’s not how people look, but what they do.
i don’t want to be an angel. i just want to be myself.
you’re keeping too many secrets. they don’t fit inside your heart.
can one secret cancel out the other?
you’re spiraling. just breathe.
your hands are good for other things, not just bruises and breaks.
it’s okay. you’re here. you’re real.
i want to ask if you’re for real, but i already know you are.
of course i believe you. you would never lie to me.
is everything cool at home?
maybe i’m wrong. maybe i’m making it all up, you know?
it could be nothing. maybe it’s nothing.
all knowledge is good knowledge.
fear is human.
forward is good. fear is fine. fear is fearsome. you’ve failed no one.
monsters are the ones who do the monstering. not you.
i didn’t want to hurt you. you have to know that.
we don’t walk away from each other.
i want this to be over for you.
can you do that? can you be brave and work with me?
there is no right thing, there is only the thing that needs to be done.
you’re wrong if you think people will look. they’re cowards.
people do not change.
you’re just sorry you got caught. you’re not sorry about anything you did.
look away. make sure you do not look back.
angels can look like many things. so can monsters.
you’re here to say goodbye, aren’t you?
tell me the words, so i know you’ll remember them.
you’ll hold onto the words, and it’ll be as though you’re holding on to me.

" we took what we could carry, and we burned the rest. "
There might have been no one else who understood a sacrifice like that better.
The Court of Wonders were in a strange position regarding the fates of those who resided within The Long Quiet; they were the only beings there who originally came from "somewhere"---they weren't born from the endless nothing and raised with power beyond the comprehension of those who left it. The Lords in Black are like you, eternal and immutable from the day they sprung into being.
But you understand what it means to be human. Your separation from the Shifting Mound had given you perspectives just as it had given them theirs. When you'd reclaimed godhood, you hadn't been letting go of the experiences you had when you were a hero on a path. But you'd still sacrificed them.
"Do you remember being human?" You ask, finding yourself genuinely curious to know what the answer will be. "Do you remember what it was like to know you were at the mercy of life itself?"
You think you'd liked it.
You did like it, says the Voice of the Hero. I was there. I didn't mind it, either. Sometimes I wish we'd---
"You know, it's partly my fault everyone ended up with a vast array of different universes that are capable of that sort of change. The sort that allows death to loom over everyone like that, I mean."

... ravenously hungry girls, pt. 3.
dialogue prompts from the care and feeding of ravenously hungry girls by anissa gray.
i’m stronger than you think.
something isn’t right. not with me.
i’m not like other mothers i know.
i don’t think i feel what i’m supposed to feel.
daughters carry the hopes and promises of their mothers.
i love you, okay? we have some things to work through, but i love you. i need you to know that.
get some happy, okay? at least one of us should have it.
i’ve been distant and selfish and not well. but i want to be better.
you’re my friend, i guess.
you never seemed scared of me.
these days, i gotta tell you, i’m mostly scared for you.
that’s what people say: ‘everything’s gonna be just fine.’
i know what’s waiting for me, if i go home.
if there’s ever anything i can do for you, i will.
i thought you might still be in here.
do you ever think about what you did?
i haven’t been very careful, have i?
you’d think i’m nuts. maybe i am nuts.
you need a reason to get out of your pajamas.
no pressure, but i’m here. you know you can talk to me, right?
if i tell you something, do you promise not to be mad at me?
maybe it’s time to try to forgive people, even if they don’t deserve it.
i did something that’s probably going to be on the news.
don’t be mad, okay?
i closed my eyes and it was like i could pretend anything bad ever happened.
i try to be good, but i’m not like you, okay?
somebody wrote ‘good riddance’ over my face in big letters.
i feel the ghosts crowding in again.
what is there to hold onto?
what did you see in me, when we met?
i am mad. i’ve been mad for a long time.
even now, i don’t think there’s anything in the world i wouldn’t do for you.
what i’m asking you to do is see yourself, for once.
this is my house, and i don’t want you to come back here.
you’ve been here all night?
i keep doing stupid stuff, don’t i?
you’re surrounded by people who love you. i hope you can see that.
i’m not that good with ‘authorities’.

" people are always hovering over me . . . and it’s so suffocating! " he is being so dramatic. this one for a hero persuasion?
"Yeah, I can imagine."
He can do more than just imagine, really, but The Hero isn't exactly sure their situations are exactly comparable. With Tsukasa, it often feels as though he's complaining for the sake of complaining---the only person who ever hovers over him in the traditional sense of the phrase is you.
"Er. So, what exactly would you like me to do about that? It's not really possible to just... Not hover over you. Or all around you. We don't really get a choice in the matter." Though he's matter-of-fact, his sympathy seeps into his tone. After all, you and he both remember the omnipresence of an echo who pulled a lot more strings than he ought to have been able to---though you'd privately like to think that's a different situation entirely. At the least, Tsukasa lives in your domain willingly.

" i don't need you to mother me! " guy who was probably locked in his room for the nth time
"I actually think it's closer to landlording you," you point out. It's a somewhat rare occurrence that you speak to the Court of Wonders directly, often allowing the Voices to deal with them while you enjoy the relative peace that comes from not having to deal with them directly. Only in times like these---where one of them causes more trouble than ignoring them is worth---do you really ever bother.
I think you'd make an excellent mother! the Voice of the Contrarian interjects, mercifully audible only to you. I mean, you're sort of grounding your kids already.
I wouldn't exactly call them kids. Or 'mine'.
"I mean, if you really want to view it as a punishment that's meant to have a lesson behind it, that's fine---but really, you call me and my domain your home, and I let you live here and give you whatever you need to feel comfortable, so I feel like the least you can do is behave yourself while you're here. If you don't want to be confined to the space you asked me for, then stop treating me like I'm a wall you can punch a hole through."
Very motherly! says the Contrarian, again. You ignore him.
"Anyway, you can come out when you're ready to apologize, and all that."
