New Year, Same Shenanigans...

TLDR: i'm going back to the NIH to get cured of my sickle cell (for real this time) but i went broke replacing my broken computer + buying things to prep for the trip. && i've already exhausted my resources (my mom), so uh, help please? The full explanation, of course, is under the cut. So at first I WAS going to make this post, but then I chickened out and asked my mom for help. And she DID. But then an auto withdrawal made THIS happen. So here I am, I guess, bc Mom was pretty clear she couldn't help twice, which is fair.

To keep this brief as I can (spoilers: it's still kinda long i'm so sorry), around May of last year, the FDA put the trial I was in on hold for safety reasons that I can't divulge because I'm not the patient it relates to. And after months & months of waiting for approval & timing to work out, I'm FINALLY headed back to the NIH (in Maryland) for my gene therapy study. This time we're DETERMINED to see it all the way through and see me cured!

BUT, because I swear I'm FUCKING CURSED, my laptop BROKE right before the holidays. (Yes, it IS the YEAR-OLD laptop that y'all helped me get LAST January -- yes, I AM furious about it.) Mom mused that perhaps my laptops have all given me trouble because I usually go middle-of-the-road instead of spending the money on one that's really powerful so as to accommodate the fact that my disabilities usually mean I'll be using it basically all day everyday and that I use stuff like Photoshop & Finale on it. So, per her suggestion, I have gone ABSOLUTELY BROKE replacing my old laptop with one that will meet my needs. On top of this, I need new glasses, and there are STILL expenses I haven't been able to cover bc I'm discovering what I need as I start packing again.

Currently I estimate that about $230 will cover what I need to buy, (which, to be clear, means I would STILL have just $4 in my account), so I think a goal of like $300 would be reasonable. But of course, as ALWAYS, every little bit helps. ♡ And if helping is of interest to you, this is where you can do so:
