needlessly relating army dreamers by kate bush to zero day, because i can

now all of the obvious "army" mentions can easily be related to cal, because of the army shirt. but also, they could both be seen as "army boy"'s in a teasing manner by loved ones because of their military talk and fashion

"four men in uniform" like the four (if im not mistaken) men at the end of the movie who burn their crosses? also the idea of their parents calling them their "little soliders" makes me wanna cry

all of these lines, to me, remind me of andre and cals age. These are things they shouldve been dreaming of becoming, instead of planning an attack on their school. Cal, who had an interest in instruments, shouldve been dreaming of being a rockstar. Andre, who was smart and who was accepted into university, shouldve been dreaming of being something like a politician (more fitting, an engineer). And i think the following lines are kind of sarcastic from this lens. showing how andre and cal were from perfectly normal backgrounds. Cal did have the money for a guitar, and andre did have a proper education. But because of their plans, it stopped them from ever even making it to their twenties.

again, the "army" thing. But i think of this song, about them, from their parents perspective. And their parents probably thought of them as some sort of "army dreamer" due to their interest in army-related-things.

they couldnt win the war with ego. They dreamt up zero day as the solution to all their problems, mostly because they felt they had been wronged. They couldnt just let it go, and had to kill, and had to die.
