Cat says edmure has a soft heart but maybe a soft head but she’s his sister. Why does genna Lannister? Are there anything in the books to suggest he’s silly or soft if the head?
The only thing he’s done that’s stupid is sit when everyone stayed standing and then the battle of the mill which was more for glory than anything else and he won.
This is the genna Qoute: “"Not so long as Edmure Tully lives," said Lady Genna. "He is soft of heart and soft of head, I know, but alive, the man is still a danger. What do you mean to do about that, Jaime?"
He tends to make decisions on emotional responses rather than the most logical and practical thing. When the Westerlanders marched, he amassed his strength on the border rather than fight a defense-in-depth strategy. He took in the scared and starving people into Riverrun - which is absolutely admirable but impractical when it came to a siege situation. When he screwed up at the mill, his response was to try and push for a big, overwhelming gesture. He's definitely the type that more practically-minded folks are going to think is soft-hearted and soft-headed.
Now, that being said, he's still the head of House Tully. He's Hoster's son, who was able to keep the fractious Riverlanders relatively united. And the same people he protected adored him. When Genna Lannister says that he's a danger, she's telling Jaime the truth: don't sleep on Edmure Tully. This is a man who beat Tywin outnumbered 20-to-11 on the field after learning from his mistakes. He might make rash decisions, but he is not someone you can just ignore.
I think this is GRRM foreshadowing for us - Edmure has a role to play yet. I think the inner romantic of GRRM is going to shine through on Edmure's future. The one noble who looked at his scared and terrified people and said: "I'm going to protect you even though it's not the smartest thing to do," is resonant to a man who spent the Vietnam War as a CO, who wrote the Broken Man speech. He's the noble that Doran Martell pretends to be in the Water Gardens, and I think that's why the two men's futures are going to be different: Doran talks a big game but words are wind and Doran will be blown away, Edmure put his money where his mouth was and ends up on a firm foundation.
Thanks for the question, Anon.

why in ACOK was edmure avoiding seeig his father? Cat said he’d rather ‘face battle than that sickroom’ even when she thinks hoster will die
Because it can be difficult - really, really difficult - to see someone you love that ill.

such a shame that edmure hasn't yet gotten to meet the only member of his family truly proud of his great victory of the stone mill. so proud she even believed he could destroy tywin on an open battlefield too! ofc if she knew robb/catelyn/brynden blackfish's opinion on all that, she'd no doubt be influenced by her mother's and big brother's thoughts of the uncle she hadn't met before, but it's not like either is in any position to tell her now. maybe that's the one silver lining of the rw, if/when edmure and arya there's nothing to stop her congratulating him on his defeat of tywin lannister.

the fact that cat is AT MOST 10 years older than edmure makes the "hoster raised her to be the heir until edmure came along" thing soooo funny. she was literally 6 and forced to watch the brackens and blackwoods fight in her living room every day

sorry theres something inherently tragic about the riverlands like. theyre the central kingdom, theyve three major rivers which bring the people food and feeds their crops and helps their trade, they've got the Isle of Faces and Ravenhall and Riverrun and they connect all other kingsdoms, but no matter what decade u look at, theyre always ravaged. the ever going conflicts between the Blackwoods and the Brackens, Harrenhal being built on the bodies of thousands of peasants by one invader only to then be drowned in fire by another, then an uprising marched through them and only ended when two dragons fought high above them all, and just when peace was there, the dance happened and they burned again and again, and when Robert's Rebellion happened and their liege lord wed his daughters to the rebels and the last key battle happened at the Trident, they knew peace for a time, before it was promptly ripped away from them again by the Lannisters and then the War of Five Kings and the Northern rebellion and the raiding and the Red Wedding. even still with the war technically over, the Brotherhood Without Banners is fighting for them and their liege's daughter is now haunting their assailants and there are people who sought to protect them like Edmure Tully or help them like Septon Meribald and its all so

House Tully | Siblings
Catelyn Tully is the eldest daughter of Lord Hoster Tully and Lady Minisa Whent. When Catelyn's mother died in childbirth, along with her son, Lord Hoster told his daughter that she had to be the Lady of Riverrun in her mother's stead. She was close with her younger sister. Lysa had been a soft, shy, and timid girl in her youth, prone to tongue-tied silences and fits of giggles. Their younger brother, Edmure Tully, was known as hot-headed but good-hearted.

the siege of riverrun is so crazy bc jaime’s like “wow it’s so unfair that the blackfish won’t negotiate with me bc im a king slayer and a lannister no one understands me im just a little guy” and then he goes into edmures bath and is like by the way your fucking baby is going to burn in hell. and then he plays a compilation album of his family’s greatest war crimes

Matching your freak is beautiful and all but what you really need is a boy who's infatuated with your freak. Down bad for your freak. Deeply intrigued by your freak. Eager to see more of your freak. Supportive of your freak. Gets bricked up witnessing your freak, even.

All of your Ameond fics killing his lover, got me worried about my future... 😔🎀
Nothing better than dying in the hands of your lover, babe. If he’s not cradling your corpse with blood on his mouth and tears in his eyes, was it even love? 😆

When u think about it, Kakashi's history w Uchiha teammates is actually really funny. He's like 3 for 3 in the category of 'my Uchiha teammates went evil on me, betrayed the village, declared their intent to murder me'
Obito, Itachi, Sasuke— I think Shisui is the only exception to the rule (ignoring the many Uchiha teammates I'm sure are implied to have existed on teams w him before, were talking ab explicitly shown to be on major teams) Every time Kakashi is placed on a longterm team w an Uchiha he's given an allowance of like 2-3 years before they have a fucking mental break and run off into the woods to return years later trying to kill him in pursuit of greater goals. Amazing. Incredible.
I like to imagine that in Boruto, he's given the option of teaching Sarada but just mutters "the curse..." under his breath then runs away

I'm not Greek myself, but it always really interested me how Western countries through history just took Greek myths and history, whitewashed it, and used it to strengthen their borderline racist western ideologies. I was wondering how Greeks feel about that? I would be really pissed off myself tbh. If you have any sources I can read about this, I would love to know!
Pharos has done so much good work, translating and writing about all that stuff that pisses so many people off (especially archeologists lol)
I mean most people will ignore it, but it is aggravating when people say they love our culture but will only cite Percy Jackson or some weird white supremacy stuff they probably read because the Roman empire made it popular
Like a tourist that comes here and enjoys the beach and eats local food loves our culture much more than any professor who's read a bad translation of the Odyssey 367474 times, imo
