answering the internet’s most googled question? neil doesn’t give away shit. (“what is neil jostens favorite hobby?” “lying to cops”) every question is answered with some version of your mother or an anecdote about something illegal

hot wings but neil and kevin do it versus each other. it quickly devolves into psychological warfare. neil adds hot sauce to kevin’s wing when he’s not looking

when you grew up as a lonely uncool girl it will never stop haunting you by the way. you will meet a cool person at a bar or the train station or at a friend's party and you can wear your most stylish outfit and striking eye makeup and you will swear that they can see through all of the facade and see the lonely terribly insecure teenage girl you used to be who desperately wanted to connect and you will swear that they know that there is like an insurmountable gap between you. this will happen forever

neil mentioning andrew being strong enough to withstand his truths / hold him up / not flinch is always so special to me (even if he's rarely honest with his words) bcus he rlly doesn't comprehend his own place in their relationship. and how he does the exact same thing for andrew. like before neil the only person andrew had really told about his trauma was luther (and we all know how that went). but we see andrew tell neil all of his ugly truths and while neil does react emotionally he never flinches or doubts him. its also insane bcus we knowwww neil lies to andrew but that never really becomes an issue bcus the truth that his actions revealed was more important than his words. like wow im once again in my feelings about the build of andreil's trust throughout the three books.

Imagine Aaron finding out he has a twin and thinking to himself ‘wow I can’t believe I’m someone’s “evil” twin with my drug dependencies and traumatic home life’ and then he meets fucking Andrew. Like- he probably had a whole crisis over being all fucked up and feeling shame that this other version of himself would have to see him all fucked up and then the other version of himself is ANDREW. iconic. So funny. Writing peaked there.
