so: masking: good, unequivocally. please mask and please educate others on why they should mask to make the world safer for immune compromised people to participate in.
however: masking is not my policy focus and it shouldn't be yours, either. masking is a very good mitigation against droplet-born illnesses and a slightly less effective (but still very good) mitigation against airborne illnesses, but its place in the pyramid of mitigation demands is pretty low, for several reasons:
it's an individual mitigation, not a systemic one. the best mitigations to make public life more accessible affect everyone without distributing the majority of the effort among individuals (who may not be able to comply, may not have access to education on how to comply, or may be actively malicious).
it's a post-hoc mitigation, or to put it another way, it's a band-aid over the underlying problem. even if it was possible to enforce, universal masking still wouldn't address the underlying problem that it is dangerous for sick people and immune compromised people to be in the same public locations to begin with. this is a solvable problem! we have created the societal conditions for this problem!
here are my policy focuses:
upgraded air filtration and ventilation systems for all public buildings. appropriate ventilation should be just as bog-standard as appropriately clean running water. an indoor venue without a ventilation system capable of performing 5 complete air changes per hour should be like encountering a public restroom without any sinks or hand sanitizer stations whatsoever.
enforced paid sick leave for all employees until 3-5 days without symptoms. the vast majority of respiratory and food-borne illnesses circulate through industry sectors where employees come into work while experiencing symptoms. a taco bell worker should never be making food while experiencing strep throat symptoms, even without a strep diagnosis.
enforced virtual schooling options for sick students. the other vast majority of respiratory and food-borne illnesses circulate through schools. the proximity of so many kids and teenagers together indoors (with little to no proper ventilation and high levels of physical activity) means that if even one person comes to school sick, hundreds will be infected in the following few days. those students will most likely infect their parents as well. allowing students to complete all readings and coursework through sites like blackboard or compass while sick will cut down massively on disease transmission.
accessible testing for everyone. not just for COVID; if there's a test for any contagious illness capable of being performed outside of lab conditions, there should be a regulated option for performing that test at home (similar to COVID rapid tests). if a test can only be performed under lab conditions, there should be a government-subsidized program to provide free of charge testing to anyone who needs it, through urgent cares and pharmacies.
the last thing to note is that these things stack; upgraded ventilation systems in all public buildings mean that students and employees get sick less often to begin with, making it less burdensome for students and employees to be absent due to sickness, and making it more likely that sick individuals will choose to stay home themselves (since it's not so costly for them).
masking is great! keep masking! please use masking as a rhetorical "this is what we can do as individuals to make public life safer while we're pushing for drastic policy changes," and don't get complacent in either direction--don't assume that masking is all you need to do or an acceptable forever-solution, and equally, don't fall prey to thinking that pushing for policy change "makes up" for not masking in public. it's not a game with scores and sides; masking is a material thing you can do to help the individual people you interact with one by one, and policy changes are what's going to make the entirety of public life safer for all immune compromised people.

Not enough people are talking about this. No, I don't mean the Rinsagi breakup or Rivalry breakup or whatever.
I mean this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All those jokes about Rin and Isagi being the same... Because their expressions, when confronted with such a sheer, impossibly high gap in ability are the exact same. Really, this particular football maneuver is not rare. It has happened plenty of times.
But only Rin and Isagi have reacted this way to bring overthrown in such a callous, effortless manner.
And not to mention, Rin himself. The words he's heard come from Sae, every time this happens to him. "What have you been doing in Japan? You'll never be able to surpass me. "
"With such a lukewarm existence... You're a failure of a rival. "
Even when he's trying to beat Sae, he cannot help but be Sae. Learn from Sae. Acknowledge Sae. And he sees himself in Isagi, just as Isagi sees himself in Rin. The pages after this are of Isagi acknowledging that, while their drives and reasons may be different, they are both MORE than willing to put everything. EVERYTHING. On the line.
The same blood runs in their veins. And Isagi and Rin are absolutely delightful rivals.

No one else wondering about that sword and shield prophecy rn? Just me???
Hak is the shield, Soo-Won the sword and Yona is the king? Or maybe Soo-Won and Yona are interchangeable. Maybe we should question the foundation of the prophecy itself. No one? Like, at all???
Okay :]
That being said, personally, I think too many people are being weird about this chapter. While I have my reservations about it, there's symbolism and growth highlighted in it that's actually pretty interesting. Analyzing a series is fun and great and all but guys. It's just a series, it's not that deep. You have to know that I thoroughly understand the investment one gets in these series, but just because you dont agree with the writing doesnt meant that it's bad writing, even if the ending or even the next chapter isnt what we're expecting. And even if it is bad writing, again!! Its not that deep, and its out of our control. Its a hard pill to swallow, but one I have to force myself to take. Why? Because it I remain overly critical, I will lose the enjoyment I get from reading this manga.
As a MASSIVE akayona fan myself, yeah. I wish things were going in a different direction. I wish some (a lot of) things in this chapter and arc were different. (Time travel, characters, plotholes and such.) But I trust Kusanagi's incredible writing skills and have no doubt something great is about to happen, and if it doesn't, well, I'm incredibly grateful to have been along for the ride. Besides, there's infinite possibilities when you have hundreds of people out here willing to create their own versions of the story. Its simple. If you end up being that upset with the finale, remold canon and write a fic! Make fanart! Create scenarios in your head! Your imagination is your greatest tool, so don't be afraid to use it!
My point being, give Kusanagi a chance. As an author she's nothing short of a genius and a talented storyteller, so I wouldn't doubt that she's got a few more cards up her sleeve. The series isn't over just yet!

Really wish we had more Naruto movies or novels centered on the blank period, but not on random missions or that stuff.
I want to see Naruto learning about politics and Kakashi struggling to build a new Konoha now that most of its shadows are gone.
I want to hear about the how Ino, Shikamaru and Choji came back from the war as clan leaders and how they transitioned to their new roles while still mourning the lost of their parents.
I want to read about Tenten and Lee adjusting to the fact Neji is not there, that every other team came back with their three members but they didn't.
I want to know what the civilians did, if Hinata and Hanabi pushed for some reformations on the clan, about the kids who went home without parents and if Naruto saw them and thought of himself, if Kakashi made new laws to avoid future cases of kids ending up like Sasuke or Naruto, lonely and rejected for no good reason.
Do they have ptsd about the tsukuyomi? What about the first Kage reunion where they fight post war? How often did they have to deal with people stopping them to talk about the war, since they were heroes? When they sat to decide how the story would be told, who was there? What did they say?
I want to read about Sasuke going back to the Uchiha compound and Naruto staring at Minato's face on the Hokage mountain and reading Obito's name again on the memorial and Sakura an endless string of ghosts crossing her door on the hospital, kids and teens and adults searching a deeper medicine, something to close the wounds the war left behind. Did Sai ever paint how the world is after it almost ended? Did Yamato ever tell anyone who wished he wasn't the one taking care of Orochimaru?
I don't know, it's cool to see their kids growing up and seeing them as parents, but I want to read about the healing and the step by step, waking up to realize the war was won but your body doesn't know it, going out to the whiplash of seeing a new world developing, childhood over, innocence lost, do you dare to dream about new things just yet?

The Cost of Your Silence !!!
Tumblr media
Your silence is allowing these atrocities and massacres in Palestine to continue. The bloody violence against innocent people persists because of it. Ten months have passed—YES, TEN MONTHS—and the genocide continues, as does the silence. Enough is enough! Enough silence, enough genocide, and enough killing. Gaza deserves better. We deserve a better life, and you deserve to be heard.

FINALLYYYYY
3, 4, 5, 13, 20, 30 for your favourite blue lock ship. We both know what it is.
Dishzh
I knew I forgot something. I felt like you wanted revenge pfffft
Ask game!!!
3. Most common argument?
I think it's still arguing who's the best and #1
But if during teens it's more of a boyish desire to show-off. After maturing a bit more it's like a silly banter
"I am sure I am better at flipping pancakes"
"No you're not, Yoichi."
"...wanna prove me wrong?"
Very helpful to do chores or to spice up their boring days (hehe)
4. Favorite non-sexual activity?
Oh man. It's hard. I think maybe anything... Non verbal? Like, where they can do stuff together without needing to speak much? They already live in each others' heads so no need to speak. So, nothing specific. Just them flexing their knowledge of the other be it games, movies, chores or anything.
5. Who is most likely to carry the other?
Rin doesn't like carrying Isagi. Honestly he wants him to move more by his own two feet.
Isagi also doesn't like to be carried BUT. He would really like to carry Rin as a revenge for the previous times. I imagine him training his arms a lot to handle Rin's weight and height :>
13. Who reaches for the other's hand first?
I first thought Isagi. But in a sense that he is usually the first to reach for Rin in general.
But then I re-read and thought. Ah, wait. Wrong thing. It's not about supporting it's just hand holding PFFFFT
And I think Isagi never actively seeks physical touch? Rin also seems like the type to avoid it SOOOOOOO
I think Isagi won't touch Rin unless Rin initiates it first (because the idiot refuses to communicate) and after that Isagi just has no shame touching him whenever he wants (respectfully, of course)
20. What do their family/friends think of their relationship?
I think both parents would think "the signs were here"
(they are both unhealthily obsessed with football. Come on)
Isagi could be bi but I think he won't care about gender much and his parents have kinda the same idea "love is love" even if they don't understand all that stuff much.
Rin's parents, as we were shown, already think there's something wrong with their son. Honestly, I think they will be surprised their son got SOMEONE at all. Like, yeah, their sons are pretty but they both have hard to handle personalities.
But also I think Rin wouldn't even share the fact and his parents will find out through the news or something.
Their friends. Uh. I don't think Rin had any before BLLK and I don't think Isagi will try to talk to his classmates again.
That leaves BLLK gang. Hehehe. Everyone knows they are freaks. They joked about it. They suspected it. Some even thought they are already dating (Hiori and Bachira were placing active bets) [don't place bets on your friend's life btw]
So. It was fun. Only some of them were really new ro the idea of men dating men.
30. One headcanon about this OTP that mends <heart>?
Rin and Isagi healing their dissatisfactions/trauma thanks to each other (it's more of an implied canonically but not stated factually. Bc Isagi helped a lot and they helped him)
But with RinSagi in particular I like that they see each other equally and at the same time they are not stale. Their rivalry is something that heals them. With Rin, it helps to close the gap made by his brother (honestly, I can understand why Sae did it but he did it too rough) and for Isagi it allows him to fight against someone who is also obsessed with football the way he is.
And. It heals Isagi's ego. He was always for the striker mentality but his school club was.... Not that. It was about fighting as one making Isagi the support (Rin had the same arc as well)
Rin's goal wasn't the best of the best but to beat Sae. It's kinda close but not really. And then it's to beat Isagi. And like, Isagi is the same but he wants to be the best.
They both want to devour eachother.
This kind of relationship is what makes them both so special.
They are healthily obsessed with the other under the thin veil of rivalry that also pushes them to be better.
That includes being a better boyfriend😌☕
(they are still shit at saying what they actually want to say)
