Otto Johann Anton Skorzeny
He was a LOT more interesting, in my opinion, after WWII than before or during.
Skorzeny escaped from an internment camp in 1948, hiding out on a Bavarian farm as well as in Salzburg and Paris before eventually settling in Spain.
In 1953, he served as a military advisor to the Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser. He was allegedly an advisor to Argentinian president Juan Perón.
Skorzeny acted as an agent of Mossad, allegedly assisting with the execution of actions such as Operation Diamond. He was also the gunman that took out the nazi scientist, Heinz Krug.
Some called him a traitor. Some called him a survivalist. No matter, he was just as cagey then with Mossad as he was with the nazis.
Most recognized him by his dramatic facial scars. Otto Skorzeny had a large scar on his left cheek from a dueling injury he sustained while studying at the Technical University of Vienna. The scar is known as a Schmiss, which is German for "smite" or "hit".
Skorzeny was a skilled fencer and member of a German-national Burschenschaft.
He was involved in 15 personal duels, and the tenth left him with a dramatic scar.
Dueling scars were a sign of courage and status in elite social circles.
He died of lung cancer on 5 July 1975 in Madrid at the age of 67.
