The Direction of GG Strive pt.1
Back when Strive was known as Guilty Gear(2020), I was generally excited for the game. I made posts of what I thought about the artstyle, the redesigns shown, etc. There are some great soundtracks I really love and how the different Roman Cancels is implemented. New characters like Nagoriyuki and Goldlewis are great additions to the GG universe. And while I still think Strive is an okay game itself, I was starting to see red flags of its direction that I couldn’t ignore anymore. Time for a super long post! This topic will be split into multiple parts, so I hope you enjoy reading! THE GAMEPLAY PHILOSOPHY --------------------------------------------- Due to the nature of how fighting games are with patch updates, things naturally will change overtime. But I do think the general concept of what the developers are aiming for will remain the same. Multiple past interviews mention  how the intention is to make Guilty Gear’s gameplay less intimidating for new players, yet still maintaining the level of depth veterans love. Like in this one (Source: https://www.eventhubs.com/news/2019/sep/17/were-hoping-wed-be-able-eliminate-perception-game-looks-difficult-guilty-gear-directors-talk-simplifying-title-brand-new-ways/ ) Now I’m going to post pieces of another interview about the direction of Strive’s gameplay. When designing a new Guilty Gear, how do you think about the balance of bringing back old characters versus making new ones? Ishiwatari:  Especially for the existing characters, when we consider the balance, like with Sol or Ky, I think people have a way they imagine they're supposed to be played, a way that they feel that they're designed to be played. And when we make a completely new Guilty Gear like this one, I think we need to both shift and kind of reset that mindset. So it kind of opens up the possibility of, well, maybe Sol could be played like this, or maybe he's more of a character that would do those type of things. With a new game, it's a reexamination of all the existing characters and then adding other ways to play the game in addition. So that's how we maintain overall balance. Was it tempting to throw the old characters out, like Capcom did with Street Fighter III, when it was Ken and Ryu returning and everyone else was new? Ishiwatari:  Incidentally, Street Fighter III is one of my favorite fighting games. And I wouldn't necessarily say we're going to that extent. Kind of the approach for this is—let's say you take Ryu, the protagonist of the story, something we imagine a lot of the players are going to pick. And he was kind of really based around his shoryuken [Ryu's dragon-punch uppercut]. So the idea is, well, what if we take that away from his toolkit? And I'm sure most of the conversation would be "No, it's impossible, etc." But at least posing those questions and seeing what they might lead to is kind of the process we're going through. Source: https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2019/11/interview-with-guilty-gear-creator-daisuke-ishiwatari/ The biggest questions I think needs to be asked when companies do something like this is, “Other than wanting to do something different in general, why do you think the characters’ moves and playstyle need to be shifted and reset? And how do you think it’ll benefit not only new players, but veteran players of the series?” I think these questions are important because if Strive is suppose to be an reconstruction and not a reboot, it shouldn’t strictly be “different for the sake of being different”. It needs to be that if it’s different, what makes it better than the last game and what it has to offer to keep someone playing long-term. To challenge this further, GGX2(and Accent Core) already did this by implementing EX versions of the characters. To give an example, I’m going to show how Sol’s gameplay style is from GGX2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F78OIRYu3uk Next is comparing it to his EX version from Accent Core(it’s also in GGX2) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARoalD44pU0&list=PLCBCjsHkVhvRin0ji0sYL8WyKYkm_goN9&index=1 See how not only his moves are different, but his normals and how his Overdrives are also done differently?  Next  is highlighting one of the red-flags regarding Strive’s gameplay; “What if we take that away from the toolkit?”  This wouldn’t be bad if there were new and better moves to compensate, but Strive is too focused on taking away toolkits just so the characters can fit into its limited gameplay rules. For example, look at Anji’s movelist in GGX2.(Skip to 1:21 and watch onward) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Me3SHZgFbk4 Now let’s look at Anji in Strive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N69NVbLcb_A While I do like the ground twirl, Kou, and his Overdrives, Anji’s gameplay revolves around Fuujin. Its follow-up moves from the previous games are watered down, and there’s no extra moves to make it feel fresh. It’ll make it feel boring very quickly, and he isn’t the only one. Many characters(including the DLC ones) have this problem. It’s a shame because Strive has potential with giving characters unique abilities like Ky’s Shock State(which for some reason that’s been toned down from the Betas) or how Chipp can wall run and juggle the opponent upward while doing so. And Potemkin’s grappling style is so much fun and feels powerful, along with Heavenly Potemkin Buster is one of the best Overdrives visually. They really should’ve pushed for unique character abilities and extra moves to replace ones that were taken away. But Strive doesn’t seem to have clear a direction, it’s “let’s throw darts at the wall and hope something sticks” is the pattern I’m seeing. The direction of Strive’s gameplay also contradicts itself. For example, one of the things taken away from previous games is the opponent getting dizzy. The reason they gave is to keep the action moving and so the other player doesn’t feel helpless. They mention how they increased the damage of the game so players didn’t need to rely on doing long combos for damage. But if you play Arcade Mode perfectly, you get to fight Extreme Nagoriyuki, a stronger boss version of the character. The best way to beat Extreme Nagoriyuki is....doing combos so he can get dizzy, and do an air combo against him(the longer it is, the better it is damage-wise before it scales when his life is low). Trying to damage him any other way would either take too long(due to the damage of the player’s moves, etc. is heavily decreased) or he kills you in seconds since his damage output is doubled. This is obviously on purpose so the player has a chance, but it would also mean if they stuck with the no getting dizzy, etc. rules like they said, there wouldn’t be a way to beat Extreme Nagoriyuki(or harder than usual). To give another example, I’m going to post pieces of a past Development Backyard.
Next I would like to discuss Mission Mode, where you can various techniques for GGST and fighting games in general. We aimed to show new players that it's possible to enjoy fighting games without knowing about the battle mechanics by opting not to include explanations of the mechanics in the Tutorial Mode and by reworking the matching system. However, we would recommend players who want to improve and get stronger to play Mission Mode. There are over 120 missions total between explanations of mechanics, techniques, combos, and counter strategies for individual characters. The missions are divided by difficulty level, so there's no need to try clearing all of them at once. This mode is great for when you feel you've run into a wall during your matches or when you don't know what to practice next. Source: https://www.guiltygear.com/ggst/en/news/post-1184/ Either the translator isn’t properly conveying the developers’ words or it’s another sign it’s a contradiction with the game’s direction; I think it’s both. Part of not properly conveying the developers’ words is what they’re trying to say is new players aren’t obligated to know everything right away and just allow themselves to just get the basics for now, and learn the advanced stuff later. But why I do also think their statement is a contradiction? The enjoyment of just playing the game without knowing and understanding how it works isn’t going to last very long, especially against a experienced player or even a harder COM. So they would need to know the game mechanics, etc. eventually. So they can’t really enjoy the game, lol. But since Strive is suppose to simplify things compared to the previous games, let’s compare the Tutorial Modes from Strive and Revelator! Starting with Strive’s....
youtube
Now let’s look at Revelator’s...
youtube
Now the questions I have are “In what ways is Strive’s Tutorial Mode better or an improvement than the previous game?” And “What was the flaws with how Revelator taught players the basics?”  I really wonder if the developers actually had new and veteran players test and compare the Tutorials to see how well they teach people. Both games have Mission Modes where players can learn the mechanics, etc. and even specific match-ups in detail. Was there flaws with how that mode teach people what to do? If so, what was it? Or is it the motions, input timing, etc.?  Strive did simplify the motions of characters’ moves and Overdrives like Sol’s. Yet there’s characters like Goldlewis with multiple half circles of Behemoth Typhoons and  “Down with the System” that you need to do 360 degree motion 3 times to get the full version, XDDD. How is that “simpler” to do than the directional inputs from the previous games? See how it kind of contradicts itself again? Especially since the GG series has the stigma of being “too hard” , yet I haven’t truly read or heard someone properly articulate what makes the GG series “so hard” compared to any other game. The closest I found of someone going into some detail is from a reviewer of the game. But even as he explains how he couldn’t get into the older GG games, he mostly said it didn’t “feel right” and was “overwhelming” for him. It sounds like a personal taste thing rather than the game itself since he didn’t specify what made it so challenging to learn and get into. Nor give examples of the methods and characters he tried, etc. However, he did explain why Strive’s Tutorial Mode and aspects of its gameplay isn’t really intuitive. This is in alignment with how the Roman Cancel system is in Strive. While I do like the concept of how the different colored ones work like the blue one for brief slow down, they really function as a gateway to something that should be done freely instead adding. Even when observing other players and looking at the combo recipe feature, it’s another limitation instead of freedom. It’s not truly “deep” if there’s no variety and expansion. I think this is the result of going the opposite extreme from Revelator 2. In Revelator 2, it had multiple mechanics and little nuances to the gameplay that some said was too overwhelming. So instead of balancing it out, the developers thought going to the other extreme was the solution. And it was “successful” according various gaming sites and other sources since GG Strive is the best selling GG game in history. It’s ironic that in order for Guilty Gear to do well, it basically had to give up nearly everything that made it unique from other fighting games. So, to summarize what’s the core problem with Strive’s gameplay and mechanics is “restricting the characters’ playstyles to fit the limited gameplay rules” instead of “having the mechanics and systems compliment the playstyles of the characters”. The direction of Strive goes further because the GG series not only has the stigma of being “too hard”, it also has the stigma of being “too anime”. Which I’ll get into that and more in part 2, so stay tuned!

Sin Reveal Reaction
Yesterday, there was finally another character reveal for GG Strive. According to the DLC roadmap, this character is the last one for this year while the last 2 for Season 2 will be within next year(2023). And it’s....
youtube
Sin Kiske! I wonder how many where truly surprised to see it was him? I knew he was going be part of the Season 2 DLC, I just didn’t know how soon until now. Technically, I was already exposed to his new design in the Another Story DLC in Strive. But now that his trailer has officially released, time to give my thoughts! Sin is one of the characters I truly wanted to see redesigned because his original clothing and shoes was one of the worst designs of GG. I also thought it didn’t make sense given that Sol was raising him(and even if Ky had raised Sin, he still wouldn’t be dressed that horribly). His redesign is a HUGE improvement, and like most of the GG men in Strive, he got extra  muscular. Gameplay-wise, Sin follows the trend that all characters go through in Strive. Retain some of the moves, iconic moves either get removed or watered down(or both), and etc. I know friends who are really happy to see and play him, so I’m really happy for them. I can’t fully judge him until I play him, but I’m still not paying for Season 2 unless it goes on sale, lol. I think from how the pattern was from Season 1, the next character would have to be a new character instead of a returning one. (I’m still working on other GG related posts, so stay tuned!)

I knew Sin was going to come in Season 2 XD
I knew it too! It was only a matter of time, XD. Now I'm curious to see what mods will be out for him when he releases.

Guess you haven't read the latest interview with Daisuke where he himself states that he always intended for Bridget to be a transgirl. Bridget is a girl even in "old guilty gear" and you are just a transphobe.

Are you still doing your Guilty Gear Roleplay? I found the blog not to long ago while looking for Guilty Gear RP (to little success) but figured I’d see if you were still doing it.
Hello! ^_^ Oh my goodness, I'm happy to hear someone else also interested in Guilty Gear RP too! I think there should be one here on Tumblr if it's still active. But I'm interested in knowing what character you want to be, etc. ^_^

bridget is a girl
I did read and watch the whole controversy with what was done to Testament(which that alone with bad enough) and now with Bridget. Alot of personal things in life have kept me busy, but I'm working making in-depth posts on Strive's direction with everything, so please stay tuned! What I will say is it's really a shame Guilty Gear is getting into Sonic the Hedgehog level of inconsistency and illogical changes with its lore. I guess I'll have to label myself "classic Guilty Gear fan" since I don't take Strive's "new canon" with the characters seriously, XD.

Bridget Reveal Reaction
Welcome to another character reveal reaction post! This time it’s...
youtube
Bridget! Another character who makes a return after not being in the GG games in a while(since Accent Core Plus). I knew this character was going to return eventually and I think it was a smart decision on Arc System Works to reveal now than much later. While I always thought Bridget’s gameplay is unique and like the light-heartedness he brings to the series, part of me wouldn’t miss him if he never returned. But since Bridget is here, time to give my thoughts! Unfortunately, I can’t play Bridget yet to see how he is because he’s the 1st character in Season 2 Pass and think it doesn’t make sense to buy it without seeing who the other characters are. The first thing I noticed is Roger is nerfed(both in looks and his attacks), and while Bridget seems to have his rolls and some of his iconic moves, it’s definitely tamer than compared to X2. To give you an idea, here’s a video of Bridget in X2(skip to 1:20 to see the specials and Overdrives)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Rnztuy0S04&ab_channel=VFGC I’m curious what Bridget mains think of his gameplay in Strive, especially one of my friends who love the character. I was curious about his story and what direction he’ll go in Strive, and...well...it’s what I feared based on what they did to Not-Testament “Tesla”. I’m not going to get into it in this post, though since it’ll be alot to get into. It’s just really a shame.

About GGS Season 2 Survey
Welcome to another Guilty Gear Strive related post! Although there hasn’t been any big GGS related news yet, there is a survey about Season 2, which can be found here . I also decided to take a screenshot of some of the questions they asked.
Tumblr media
Normally, I would be excited to see surveys like this because I think “Oh, they want to know what players want in the game! I must vote for what I want!” While I do think some surveys for games do work that way, sadly not all of them. Remember the character survey way back?
Tumblr media
If there was to be taken seriously, we should’ve gotten Johnny, Dizzy, and probably Bridget in Season 1. But the biggest sign I can tell to not take this survey seriously is the list of answers they give you. For example... 1. “Additional Story Content”:  Why would you need to ask if people want to have something that will be in a game anyway? XDD A better option would be “What character(s) would you like to see have focus in story mode?” 2. “Additional Single-player Offline Modes”: Another “would you want this feature we’ll put in the game anyway?”  3. “Changes to UI and Lobby Designs”: This alone should let you know not to take this survey seriously because many people complained about this during the game’s development and didn’t change it(except for some of the UI designs). They shouldn’t need to ask this. If they truly cared, they would have asked “How would you like it to be designed?” and give you some options on a general design idea. 4. “Additional Special Moves”: .....LOL! It’s sad when a survey asks for something basic for a new entry in a video game. That’s like going to a restaurant and the owner asks, “Hey, would you like us to add napkins, straws, and drinks to our restaurant?” Time to review bomb(survey bomb?), Mwahahahaha! XD But seriously, I did give my constructive complaints about things the game needs to add and work on. And lastly, the “what character(s) you want in the game, but we’re really not going to listen to you” survey part. XDD
Tumblr media
I really wanted to add ABA, Zappa, Kliff, Elphelt, Johnny, and Ariels, but only 3 choice limit(another reason I don’t trust this survey). I’ll wait and see what characters they’ll actually add to Season 2, XD.

GGS: Another Story Review
Another Story has been released for a while, so I finally took the time to watch it. I was very interested to see how the characters who weren’t included will be expanded on along with the lore. Was “Another Story” worth the wait? Time to find out! (Note: This will mostly be a spoiler free review until after June 10th, which is when the big patch happens for the game. ). One of the things I do like about Another Story is the action sequences. The animation of the fight scenes, special effects, and movement is notably improved from the previous games. While not perfect, it isn’t as stiff or has an overly strange “pause” when there’s a clash. And the camera angles of not only the action, but also the scenery!
Tumblr media
Out of all the characters, Ramlethal has the most satisfying screen-time and development, especially if you followed how she was since XRD. Like I sensed from my redesign analysis, Ramlethal displays the traits of a real leader is and was able to finally do the thing she was struggling with in the past(it’s a small, yet meaningful thing). There was another moment with her I noticed when she made a statement to Faust during the strategy of stopping Delilah. It’s another small, but meaningful moment I liked in the story. There is some small humor here and there in between that made me giggle. Another good part is seeing a “surprise” appearance of known character with a new look(it’s not really surprising since I expected to see them eventually). Now onto the criticisms I have with Another Story. The biggest issue is it’s only a one part, 41 minute long story. That’s way too short to try to fit everything the writers is trying to do. It not only makes the story very rushed, but it’s mostly “this happened” and “that happened” syndrome instead of it being a true expansion to the main story. This introduces other problems too, which I’m going to get into next. While Ramlethal’s role was satisfying, it sadly isn’t the same for the other characters. One example is Delilah, who you would think the story will go in-depth about given she has been referenced and talked about in XRD and Revelator. The story never shows, explains, nor implies how she woke up and able to stay awake unlike her brother, who remained asleep and could only communicate through his dream state. Even her connection to Baiken and the conclusion following it was rushed; instantly reminding of MCU’s Dr.Strange 2: In the Multiverse of Madness. With Delilah just being used as a plot device like America Chavez was and to “make the adult see the light”(Baiken being Dr.Strange in this case with this plotline), even though the adult already developed and soften already, lol. And since stupid Happy Chaos is the real “That Man”, it also makes Baiken’s arc like Sol’s pointless.  Another I’m most disappointed by is Faust, who is serves as a character to “move the plot” instead of giving him a proper spotlight. This also reminds me of Dr.Strange 2 where Dr.Strange himself also became a victim of being a character to “move the plot along” and do magical glyphs, XDD. Even the surprise appearance of a known character is only there to “move the plot along” and a little humor. I wouldn’t complain if Another Story had been a couple of chapters and longer(at least 5 Chapters) so it can truly feel like an expansion. After watching it, it wouldn’t be a big lost if it wasn’t included in the game.

Baiken & Testament Reaction
This is extremely long overdue, so I’m sorry for the late post on this one. To make up for it, I thought it would be better to post my thoughts and reactions to the last 2 characters for the Season One Pass. Starting with....
youtube
Baiken! This character has been promoted alot more since last year like being a guest DLC in Samsho(Samurai Shodown a.k.a. Samurai Spirits) and others, especially since how many(mainly in the West) love this character. At first, I was a little surprised to see her earlier than I thought, but the more I thought about, I realized it’s better to have her now than later, especially since she’s been made DLC again. Appearance-wise, Baiken is mostly the same with the exception of the beautiful new artstyle and how her pink hair has a reddish salmon rather than the soft pink in Revelator.  Gameplay-wise, Baiken’s style has been reworked to be “accessible” to those who love her as a character, but always found her previous gameplay “intimidating” to get into. I personally don’t play Baiken in the previous GG games other than one time initially and it was the same in GG Strive. I never found Baiken’s playstyle a problem; for me, it was just a matter of taste and it seems it might be the case here. When reading through some discussions of people who main her from the beginning, they didn’t like how stripped her the essence of being a counter type to being a bit more aggressive and losing alot of her fun tools. But those who play her casually seem to like the change, so it seems to be mixed. On to the next and final DLC revealed for Season 1....
youtube
Genderbent Testament is no longer limited to fanfiction; she’s a character now! The only feminine thing missing from her is her boobs, but no worries if you own the game on PC; there’s a mod that will “fix” this problem so she’ll be a complete woman. I’m nicknaming her “Tesla” from now on in this post, so next is talking about her gameplay. Tesla is equipped with her own gameplay style separate from the “icky goth-metal toxic masculinity Testament” with her elegant style that made me go to sleep. I love the lack of creativity in  Arbiter Sun that puts a such a restriction on the move  that it’s probably best not to use at all(unless you obey the game’s rules of placement). There’s also Grave Reaper, a move that’s actually useful and can do some combos, which thankfully, they put a limit to that creativity stuff; can’t be having that in Strive. Next is Unholy Diver, a move where Tesla gestures the crow to go forward that you can’t manipulate its direction, it’ll only go in the direction succubus is after doing Grave Reaper. Other moves that are my favorite are Possession, another move which movement strictly follows whatever direction the succubus is after doing Grave Reaper. Basically, the core of Tesla’s gameplay revolves around the Stain state gimmick. Instead of it being a unique ability to the character, Stain state is basically a gatekeeper to something she should do by default; moves going into combos”. This is brilliant! The final part I’ll mention is her main Overdrive; Nostrovia, a utility super where the two succubus slaps the opponent to death and gives them Stain state. Best gameplay evaaarrrrr! (Note: If you couldn’t tell, I couldn’t take what was done to Testament seriously and do know what they have done to the character in Strive. I may make a serious post about it one day, but for now, I’m going to make fun of it.)

Happy Chaos Reaction
The latest DLC character for GG Strive has been revealed just a few days ago and it’s......
youtube
Happy Chaos! This isn’t surprising he’s part of the 1st Season Pass, especially the role he plays in the Story Mode. From what I’ve read and seen so far from people, it seems to be some mixed reactions. Some are really excited to try out “The Gunslinging Broken Messiah” while others weren’t impressed. After watching the reveal trailer, I’m part of the group who wasn’t impressed with what was shown. Maybe it was just the trailer itself didn’t do a good job and it’ll be different with the character guide, but I felt like it was too focused on fulfilling the archetype of gunner. The only interesting part was his Overdrive seemingly being able to lock on the opponent either front or back of him(like when Faust was doing his scarecrow trick). I think they should have went more with the “Gunmage”  type considering what he is lore-wise and would make his gameplay  stand out more. I do think it was funny how he shot the timer in the trailer and passing by Sol in his intro animation. I’ll still give him a try to see how he is and install a mod with him wearing shoes! XDDD

I remember seeing a similar issue when Dizzydennis did a translation of the Sonic and Amy story from Sonic Channel. Accurate translation does matter to me because I want the full understanding of the characters, setting, etc. From reading the sample of the Sonic and Blaze story, the question isn’t “which translation is more accurate”, it’s “which translation is written neatly”. The context and nuance itself is true to the creator of what the Sonic series’ intended. Sonic nor Blaze’s personalities aren’t written completely different from how they’re officially established. Dizzydennis has already mentioned they’re still learning and growing as a Japanese to English translator, willing to take helpful feedback, and hasn’t bothered Windii nor demean her work in anyway. So I 100% agree with you @latin-dr-robotnik, if you claim to care about the quality of something, provide helpful feedback so the person can truly get better so everyone can benefit. If you don’t want to do that or if the person doesn’t receive it/has a bad attitude about it, then it would be better to just move on and go to someone else. I hope @dizzydennis doesn’t give up and keeps going.
An important response.
Tumblr media
I’ve received a reply from a user under the name: yamimanomamiya. This person is Windii, a Twitter user who also does Japanese-to-English translations for Sonic content. Windii had already blocked me on Twitter despite the fact that I never spoke with them. So, it must have taken them even more effort to come to a tumblr post about my translations. She just came to insult me.
This is not the first time that Windii has publicly made fun of me and ridiculed my translations. In the past, I’ve seen them talking about me and even scoffing at small typos I made.
Their words are hurtful and have an influence on other people online. I’ve seen people say cruel things about me because of Windii. It’s incredibly rude and insulting. Claiming that I can’t be trusted; to act like I am lying with my translations. It is simply false and upsetting.
You can even compare my translation to their translation with this very Twitter post. My translation is on the left, Windii’s post is on the right.
In all honesty, the translations are not drastically different. Yes, there are nuances, and some may say that my work reads and looks like mere translations, but I can’t say much more than, “Yes, they’re translations.” I’m one person learning a language and trying to provide some enjoyment to people in the Sonic fandom who simply wouldn’t understand the cover stories. I do it for free and that does matter. It’s just a favor I want to provide for other fans and I’m not expecting any monetary gain for it. Why reprimand a free service from a single fan?
Tumblr media
I would also like to point out how I speak about Windii in public. I would never slander their hard work. Yes, Windii probably has a better grip on translations than I do, but what’s wrong with me providing the same service? If people like their translations more then they can read Windii’s. If they like mine more then they can read mine. It’s that simple. Neither of us are getting paid to do this. Who cares if we’re providing the same service to the same fandom for free; especially when Windii clearly believes their own work to be superior.
I genuinely enjoy doing this work for the fandom. I may not be perfect, but I’ve spent dozens of hours on these stories. I’ve witnessed so many people overjoyed to see their favorite characters return. I’ve seen people record and create fan dubs of my work. I’ve had people personally thank me for doing my best with them. The hours I’ve spent talking with my friends about them has been truly precious. It’s hard work, but it comes from a place of passion. I love Sonic the Hedgehog so much and just want to attempt to give something back besides my idiotic shitposts. It’s hard and due to criticism like this, it has been disheartening. I don’t want to give up because I want to improve my Japanese and continue to be an active part of the Sonic community.
However, it seems like Windii can’t accept this. I’ve never said a word to Windii. I’ve never insulted Windii. I’ve never said anything negative towards Windii. Yet, she attacks me and hates my work. Again, this isn’t the first time they’ve bullied me. I’m pretty sure they blocked me on tumblr a couple of days ago too. They’re probably not going to see this and if they did, I genuinely don’t believe it would change much.
Windii, I don’t know why you hate me or feel the need to attempt hurting me. Are you threatened that there’s another person doing translations? Are you simply displeased with my work? Is there something else going on?
Whatever it may be, I would really appreciate an apology from you. This has been a repeating problem and I would like you to please stop it. I’m not a threat to your translations. I’m just another free avenue for Sonic the Hedgehog fans to check out.
Sonic has said, “nothing starts until you take action.” Therefore I’m asking you to take that action, Windii. Please put an end to this angry, one-sided hatred.

I personally wasn’t excited for the movie the moment I saw Sonic’s “Westernized” design for it. I never understood why here in the U.S. there’s this need to  keep changing his design(along with his personality in some versions) in attempt to “appeal more to the West” when he already does. So I’m not surprised they went with the typical route of the classic trio. The fault isn’t Knuckles himself, but I think mainly how despite being the official lead female, Amy’s “too East” for the West since there’s a biased against characters like her. Not unless she’s changed(probably to be more like her Boom version to be “improved”).
Frankly, I don't feel any excitement over the recent Sonic movie news as it's just pretty obvious stuff, plus there is also the thing where, unlike the majority of the fanbase, I never bought into the classic trio hype, nor had ever felt any love for it when in order for that thing to exist, a wonderful character like Amy MUST be excluded/left behind.

1st panel is the mindset of Western detractors while the 2nd panel is people who actually know the character according to the original source material, especially Sonic Team/Sega. XD
