You had to hurry. Your feet pounded along the pavement, a not-so-steady collection of clacks and thumps from your boots. Your breathing was ragged, chest rising and falling unevenly as you attempted to push yourself forward. You had to go forward, or else a previously successful night would turn deadly real quick.

You were the best thief in the Nine Realms, notorious for how swiftly you could sneak into any domain and rob your victim blind without them even noticing you had been there in the first place. Well, you were as notorious as you could be. Your acts were better known than you, since you were a ghost, a mystery, a passing shadow.

You could sneak into a mansion, find the most valuable item around and leave before the guards even finished their lap around the home. You could enter a party as a foreign diplomat, swoon the righteous, and leave with heaps of jewels tucked in the folds of your dress. Your methods guaranteed a hit every time - you were quiet and cunning - and no one in the Nine Realms knew who was behind it all.

Well, except now. Tonight was the first time you ever slipped up. Now, you were being hunted, and if the rumors about your latest victim were true, you would be dead long before morning if you were caught.
