In reality Isrieal was so silent of an entity unless she were deliberately trying to ignore you. That was a rare case. She always had something to say to almost anyone within her presence. Whether it be rattling off ideas, asking for favors, trying to gather judgement on character, or simply just toying with them. She always had something to say. This was no different and that bit he had said about his mother sparked her interest.
Of course this was nothing she could place right off the bat, many people came and left the labs in her years. A main researcher though? That ought to stand out unless it was one of those things she tried to block from her memory. “Mm….interesting…” She muses over the thought. “I wonder if I knew her.” Maybe it was better to press into this too much, not right now at least. So she left it at that.
“I don’t care how wild they get.” She address’ the rumors. “Let them.” She says with a wave of her hand. They weren’t hurting her. In fact, she found them rather amusing and she did like to keep that air of mystery. Well, he was suggesting a move so she may as well follow his lead. He was the Turk after all. With a nod, she rises. “Right.” Blending in wasn’t entirely easy to do with those bright eyes and white hair but in most cases people were too busy doing their own things to take much notice.
She moved along the cars behind him and when it came time to disembark casually dispersed with the crowd. Once people had trailed far enough she took her steps from the platform and looked down one of the winding dirt roads. “Right. There should be an entrance down that scrap ally. As I’m sure you know. Hopefully we won’t encounter any monsters.” Would she let on she could fight? Probably not quite yet, she wanted the opportunity to see what he could do.
“Well go on.” She gestures with a grin. “You lead, Turk. I’ll be right here behind.” This was his mission after all. She wasn’t entirely liking the prospect that he knew the locations to the underground, then again all that was down there was a bunch of scrapped experiments that hardly got attention anymore. Nothing that she really cared about. “I hope you aren’t afraid of monsters.” She adds in a sing-song tone.
@shinra-made·
“I mean, have you worked there for over a decade?” Lyko asked with some humour in his voice, he didn’t expect the answer to be yes as she didn’t look that much older than him and he had started when he had just turned 18. “You might have known of her? Her name was Grace.” he left out the part that more people would know of her because she died, but that was the implication of his comment. Honestly, her reaction to letting the rumours spin had Lyko semi-impressed. Most people cared a lot about the ways others in the building viewed them--Lyko wasn’t immune to such a response himself. So seeing someone, especially someone with such wild rumours as eating a failed experiment raw, have such a nonplus attitude to it was impressive to say the least. “Well you know, that’ll be worth it in the long run… especially when you can call them out for their eventual ridiculousness.” a kind of smirk as if that wasn’t happening already. Honestly, what Lyko had learned is that if you looked normal even if you were obviously not… you wound up blending in just fine. He’s found himself suspiciously staring at other people in business suits for longer than anyone that looked like Isrieal. So as long as she did her best to blend in with the crowd, they’d be fine. And she did pretty well at that, not attracting to much attention as they dispersed onto the platform from the train. He took a quick look around making sure no one really looked out of place before turning to her and going “Yeah it shouldn’t be too much longer. And don’t worry, I’ll protect you.” he gives her a smile as if that’s why she brought it up. He’d nod curtly at being told to lead and as she followed she effectively asked if he was ok with monsters in a sing-song voice. He rolled his eyes and went. “We’ll be just fine, don’t you worry. I’ve handled my fair share of monsters in the past.” Which wasn’t wrong, but most of them were in a controlled VR space. Lyko was confident about his ability to dispatch most average monsters, and even more about dispatching mechanical robots… so he was rather sure the scrap yard they were walking into was going to be alright.

cinderella-gurei·:
“You do not get it. A day is too much already…” he groaned in between each word, as childish as he could’ve ever been. If the other could’ve seen him over the phone, he would have noticed his puffed cheeks and huge pout as he tried to distract his hands with some materia he had been able to create. For this, he had decided to use his own internal connections to make the call, hoping it wouldn’t pose any problems to the other and to prevent from any other important calls to be interrupting by his own call or vice-versa.
“But… the President has many other Turks he can choose from. Does it really have to be you?” he sighed, frustrated. He couldn’t argue with that. The President’s life was important, he couldn’t just make him throw it away because of his own selfish wishes. Maybe holding out for a bit longer wasn’t so bad… Yet, he had grown so accustomed to seeing him around, to feel safe under his protection whenever he walked around the halls, that returning to that feeling of uncertainty had made him kind of lonely and helpless. It was clear that he wasn’t functioning as he should, though he was still diligent, just not as high spirited as he had been for the past days.
“Huh? Really? I could see you on TV?” his eyes finally lit up and he stood from the small seat, throwing away the materia back to a nearby chest, before looking around for a nearby TV. If anything, he could use his monocle to search the net or so… probably. While searching for a nice spot to watch TV, hoping he would get to see him soon enough, he gasped and stopped on his tracks. “Would you really, Lyko!? Would you really buy sweets and have lunch with me once you get back? Is it a promise?” excitement was filling him and soon enough he found himself celebrating with a small joyful giggle… that ended up in a long sigh. “But, it’s going to take sooo long for you to return… right?”
“Come now Chadley, you know I have responsibilities besides you.” Lyko said, sounding somewhat like a tired parent dealing with their toddler. The Turk found it humorous though, just imagining the pout on Chadley’s face as he talked. His eyes flickered around the the somewhat bustling deck that was the large ship they were on. “You’re right he has a lot, but they’re doing other things Chadley. That’s why they asked me to be with the President.” a mental ‘not that he needs it’, filters through his head but he resists saying that out loud. He hadn’t seen a man more competent at handling himself in a fight as Rufus Shinra, the man put grace into fighting with a gun. If anything, the President could do a better job at defending himself than Lyko can… Lyko was just there to fall on the sword if need be. Lyko for sure wasn’t telling Chadley any of that. “Yeah kiddo, when I land in Junon the whole thing is gonna be televised! And since I’m the one there to protect the President, you might see me walking with him through the crowds!” he was grinning at how happy that made the kind honestly, even though Lyko was rather sure he was going to be a step or two behind the President, he hoped he could give Chadley a cute little thumbs up to the camera just so he didn’t miss him as badly. Honestly, Lyko was laughing at how eager the kid was for the sweets and lunch and hoped he got enough free time to find a place in Junon to get him literally all the sweets gil could buy. “Yeah kid, it’s a promise.” he faltered slightly at the sigh at the end and went. “I don’t think it’ll be too long Chadley, I’ll keep you updated. I might not be able to call every night cause my focus has to be the President, but I’ll do my best ok?”

cinderella-gurei·:
A chill ran all over his body as his eyes stared in utter terror at the man before him. Trying to protect himself somehow, both of his hands rested on his chest, clenched and trembling as his mind was unable to escape from the scene that had happened seconds ago. The complexion of the person he thought as safe and reliable had distorted into a monster full another’s blood. It was too real… too similar to the image that was flashing over. He remembered the professor and horrible, unending pain. That couldn’t be Lyko.
“Get away!” he repeated in a shriek, moving his head to the side. He wanted to forget he had witnessed such a cruel act. Lyko was incapable of that. He was a kind-hearted person, even though he worked a bit too much. Chadley thought he could rely on him for anything and that he would protect him… But, not like this… “If you were… If you were really Lyko… you would’ve tried to converse or immobilize him! Lyko would… he would never-!” his eyes opened wide. Did he really know Lyko enough to even describe him like that?
He heard the step and, though he wanted to be a bit more frontal about it, panic took over and he squatted down, hands holding his head as the trembling only increased. This man, who couldn’t be anyone else other than the Turk he knew and cared about, was approaching him all covered in the blood of the person they had deprived of life. He asked a question, that emotional tone of voice and the way he articulated the words… It was most definitely Lyko. But, how could it be? He felt his chest tighten. Even though it was him, that moment he was living was scary, it was a nightmare he wanted to wake up from as fast as possible. “I-I-I… am… I am f-f-fine…” Answering correctly sometimes saved him of punishment, maybe now it would be the same, he hoped, eyes tightly shut.
The words that Chadley spoke reached into Lyko’s chest and gripped at his heart. It tightened as he looked at the boy who was obviously trying to tell himself that what he had just witnessed couldn’t have been something Lyko would have done. That he couldn’t imagine that Lyko would have killed someone. Guilt washed over Lyko, could he have just disarmed the man that came up to them? Would it have been the better course of action? Lyko knew how to disarm a person better than most--hell it’s how he got the job in the first place--but his first response had been to dispatch the terrorist without a second thought. Was he really turning into a monster? When Lyko saw that gun pointed at Chadley, every protective bone in his body had sprung into action. When the man /shot/ at Chadley, only saved by Lyko knocking him off his aim, he saw red. He couldn’t think about anyone hurting poor, innocent Chadley that the mere thought of someone trying to kill him had Lyko kill the man in exchange. But he was suddenly regretting everything he did. That in protecting Chadley… he made him scared of him. Lyko saw him curl up on the ground and his chest squeezed tightly in response again. He responded by kneeling down to his level, staying a bit of distance away, and watching him tremble in fear. He took a deep breath and in the most level and gentle voice he could muster replied. “I’m not going to hurt you. I’m so sorry I made you witness that. I just… reacted and I did something I don’t normally do. I thought he was going to shoot you and--” Lyko caught himself trying to explain away his actions when what he needed to do was reassure the kid. “It doesn’t matter, I still scared you and I’m so sorry Chadley…”

Reeve also felt numb. It was the sort of numbness that came from an icy rage that had enveloped the man, starting with words exchanged with the president and becoming all consuming as he watched the fires burn from atop a concrete overlook; a terrible counterpoint in elemental opposites. if only he had gotten there sooner, if only he had been smarter or more silver tongued enough to persuade the President from this folly, if only… if only. But the Director had sworn off his regrets, had convinced himself by all that was holy to the man at this point in time; reason, rationality and a cool stoicism that would not allow for distractions. It allowed him to function, to deliver creative solutions and provide a guiding direction to his subordinates. As was his role in life right now, it was in his title after all.
There was mass panic, out there as well as amongst his employees. Some of them lived in Sector 7 or had families or friends who did so - either above plate or below it. In the rarest case of sodding equal opportunity, Shinra had chosen the decision to have the whole sector crush and burn. Had chosen destruction for all. Lives ended, homes and businesses destroyed, and what in hellfire for? For the sake of a few ‘eco-terrorists’ and stirring the pot of xenophobic sentiments of war once more. It had been sheer madness, a lunacy soaking through the upper echelons of this great company, all hail Shinra EPC.
To say he was shook was an understatement, this was so far beyond the pale it had gone bloody stratospheric. And Lyko was not the only one to be running on adrenaline; the neuroendocrine substance had so much flooded Reeve’s system that he was surprised it was not leaking from each and every pore on his body. But his hands were not clammy from it all nor were they shaking as he picked up his large phone once again. There had been no respite from the flurry of contacts being made and that was what he clung to right now. It was his purpose. He would fix this, and he will support his people with everything he had to ensure that this would get done.
Gabriel, his charismatic and sociable secretary of Solian descent and Rhea, his dedicated and trustworthy administrative assistant were hives of activity too, two more loci spreading from his office on the 63rd Floor determined to make things right. As Lyko approached them, flashing his Turk issued badge, Rhea frowned, pinching her fair features in an echo of her bosses near trademarked look, “Director Tuesti is very busy right now, perhaps you should leave your contact and-”
“Give him a break, Rita.” Gabriel grinned, though it did not light up his features as it would typically, in what would in most sectors be referred to as a shit-eating grin. The man was surprisingly astute in matters of inter-personal relationships, and he recognised the Turk standing in front of him, as much as he recognised some of the emotions spanning across the man’s face. The Turks were not always so covert as they meant to be, “’S Lyko right? Gimme a sec.” A few moments later, Reeve’s voice filtered out from the intercom, “Gabriel.” It was more abrupt than his usual response, and Gabriel responded in kind, “Sir. I have Lyko from the Department of Administrative Research here to see you.” There is another pause, “Send him in. Thank you.”
As Lyko enters his office, Reeve is still on the phone and holds up his hand, two fingers up in indication as he ends his call, “That’s all in hand, teams are being dispatched to assess structural instability… I know. That’s not your concern right now. I expect those plans ready by 08 hundred. Tuesti out.” As he drops his phone to his side he looks to Lyko, summoning up a wan smile from somewhere, “Lyko. It’s been a while.” He does not ask the other man how he was doing, that would be pointless given the circumstance. Neither does he ask after the change in job role and how it was treating him. Reeve had visited the Auditing corridor earlier, he had seen the echoes of carnage. They were all around them right now. The number on the screen behind him changed, flicking upwards by another three digits.
He gestures to one of the chairs, even though he remained standing, “As you can see we’re rather busy, but what can I help you with?” Reeve was trying his damnedest not to be impatient with the other man, but he had a point to make. It was only because he was so distracted that it took him a moment to remember. How could he be so foolish? Dark hazel eyes settles on Lyko, tone lowered and inching back towards concerned warmth in query, “Your Father…”
Lyko hadn’t considered being denied entry. It was as if his Turk’s badge was the key to every door in the building right now, he thought he’d just be walking into Director Tuesti’s office no questions asked. So when Rhea--was it Rhea or Rita he couldn’t quite remember--was initially about to deny him his face screwed up in a slightly offended confusion. Before he could get a word in objection Gabriel, a staple that Lyko saw every time he had come to this office years prior and occasionally struck up a chat with, spoke for him. He nodded thankfully when his name was said, giving a polite “Yes, thank-you.” as a response. It wasn’t until Lyko entered the office that he realised just how busy Reeve was. When Reeve stopped him from talking so he could finish his phone conversation, Lyko looked up to the screens around him. There were numbers rising by the second on them, really putting the gravity of the situation into perspective. He realised that at this moment Reeve was really in the middle of the chaos, that his department wasn’t sitting and letting the sector burn but actively going out there and trying to make sense of all of it. Something about that was kind of relieving, to know that someone who actively knew the truth… cared. “Yes sir it has.” was Lyko’s response to Reeve’s comment, though it came out a little colder than intended as Lyko fought with himself to remain composed. He wasn’t that passionate, caring CS Lead anymore, Shinra’s deeds had begun to weigh heavy on his soul and it showed. When he was offered a seat, he moved to stand next to it but didn’t take it. “Of course Director, I understand. I’ve just been tasked with getting your preliminary damage report.” That was a lie, but Lyko didn’t know how else he was supposed to get his hands on such a report. It wasn’t as if he could just ask for such a thing. Though what caught him completely off guard was the inquiry about his father. Lyko blinked for a moment, the genuine concern that came over Reeve’s face made part of the mask slip off and a flash of hurt came across his face. He looked off to the side, unable to look at him before going. “He’s fine, sir.” he took a breath to stabilise his voice. “I have him set up in a Sector 1 Hotel.” he looked back up at Reeve. “Thank-you for your concern.”

@cinderella-gurei asked:
I’d feel a lot better if you were here...
from meme: Send one to see how my muse reacts?
Lyko laughed at how absolutely cute Chadley sounded. He readjusted the phone that was on his ear as he moved onto the deck of the ship so his conversation wasn’t overheard by every Public Security grunt on board. “I’ve been out of Midgar for like what...a day now Chadley? Is the place really falling apart without me?” He shook his head as he leaned against the railing looking over the water that separated Midgar from their destination of Junon. “You know I have to stay here, I’m on orders to protect the President.” Those weren’t all the details of why he was here, but those were the only ones he was going to tell Chadley. “Don’t worry though I can’t imagine it’ll be more than a week before I’m back in Midgar. Hey, you might even see me on TV!” Though he was sure that Chadley was calling him because he felt a little under protected without the Turk throwing his weight around anyone who dared look at Chadley wrong. He turned around so his back was up against the railing and stared up at the sky. “But I’ll make it up to you when I get back alright? Lunch on me and I’ll see what kind of sweets I can bring you back while I’m here OK?”

@cinderella-gurei asked:
Get away from me!! (Will angst do?)
from meme: Send one to see how my muse reacts?
Those words rang out in Lyko’s head as he took a step forward, arm outstretched towards the young intern. When he processed the words and terror on Chadley’s face his arm dropped uselessly to his side in shock. He was frozen for a moment looking at him in confusion before he squeezed the blades he was still holding and looked away. His eyes cast downward over to the crumbled body of another AVALANCHE terrorist who had tried to attack them--an AVALANCHE terrorist he had just killed to save both of their lives. The blood of said terrorist was splattered all over Lyko and still pooling out of his body as the Turk raised his eyes to meet those of his terrified coworker. Everyone knew what Turks were capable of doing--the ease they dispatched people, taking their lives without a flicker of emotion on their faces. But right now as he stared into the eyes of the intern that he had considered a friend-he realised he showed a side of him he didn’t want him to see.
His chest tightened as he realised Chadley was scared of him. That the reason he had shouted was because he didn’t think Lyko--the Turk that protected him and fought for him--could do such a terrible thing. As if he didn’t want to believe it was true, that Lyko was anything other than kind. He saw the betrayal in the one good and pure person he had found in Shinra’s eyes and knew that as much as he tried to deny it and bury it in him--he was that darker part of Shinra. He was what everyone said the Turks were, what Shinra was and he hated himself for it.
He took a tentative step towards Chadley again after what seemed like an hour and with a slightly hoarse voice from his throat sore with emotions he said “Chadley... Chadley are you ok?”

@animus-inspire || Crumbling Foundations
Lyko felt numb. He felt like nothing was real and everything was a dream. As if when he would close his eyes and open them again the Sector 7 plate would still be there instead of the flaming inferno it was now. As if he could just believe his coworkers weren’t responsible for the destruction of the place he called home for his entire life. As if for just a moment he had a place to return to that night… Truth be told, Lyko was just running off of adrenaline at this point. Adrenaline that started pumping the minute he was told the reason he wouldn’t be needed for the current mission was because they were afraid he wouldn’t drop the plate he lived on without hesitating. The minute he realised that his father would die by the hands of the very company the two of them had both given their lives to without a second thought. The minute he realised that if he hadn’t nearly beaten it out of Reno he wouldn’t have been able to save his father. And it didn’t stop pumping until he had dragged his father and everything they could take with them from the house back to the Shinra building against direct orders to remain out of the Sector. He barely remembered standing in front of Tseng who was laying into him for breaking a direct order. Just the absolute heartbreak that wracked his voice as he told Tseng the reason he disobeyed the order was because if he didn’t his father would die and he couldn’t let his father die. He wasn’t even sure if Tseng had decided to fire him for it or not, just that he was told to go cool off and figure things out. He was still somehow holding it together, forcing himself to be the strong man his father needed as he fed his father the lie about AVALANCHE being the reason the plate had fallen. He was keeping it together as he tried to set his father up in a hotel in Sector 1. He kept pushing himself more and more until all the emotions had bled into a rather numbness held by that professionalism he usually prided himself on having. Right now though, his loyalty for Shinra was being shook to the core. No one was being allowed back into Sector 7 as much as Lyko wanted to go back and see what he could recover from the place he called his own. It was just far too unstable and unpredictable at this point. But Lyko just couldn’t sit still. The moment he sat still was the moment everything he was burying inside of him right now would come bubbling up. He needed to keep moving, he needed to keep going. The right move would have been to go to the combat simulator and work off some of his feelings through violently beating up pixels, but Lyko was having tunnel vision about the terror that had just occurred outside this building’s walls. He felt he needed to keep drowning himself in information so he found himself walking to the administrative offices of the Urban Planning Division. This wasn’t the first time Lyko had been in this office--technically Customer Service involving Mako Energy supplies to homes fell under Urban Planning. Reeve Tuesti was Lyko’s Director for many years and over them he had met the man himself a handful of times. Sure, Lyko at that time was just another link in the chain and most of the Customer Service work wasn’t Director Tuesti’s primary focus--nevertheless the man left an impression on Lyko. Out of all the Directors Lyko had met or heard about, he was the most kind and civil. He had heard many rumours about all the Directors but anything said about Reeve was often humorous or simply unfounded. Lyko could remember the first time being in the office as a newly appointed lead in Customer Service and the man literally reached out a hand for him to shake while offering him praise for a job well done. It meant alot those small human gestures, you didn’t get too many at Shinra. He walked in the office--looking quite a bit like hell--and flashed his badge with his Turk status on it at the secretary. “Can I see Director Tuesti as soon as possible please? It’s urgent.” Was Lyko using his status a bit to make sure he could see the Director for his own personal reasons? Yeah, but he was on a rule breaking streak tonight while his loyalty was still in shambles. What was one more minor infraction? He honestly just needed to know the full scale of what had happened to ease his mind.

It could’ve been easily missed by the boy, seeing as he had only spotted the man around the simulator, but Lyko could be really menacing with so much as words and small gestures. In the blink of an eye, the man that had been causing so much mayhem had been thrown away, complaining under his breath. Chadley knew it would be best not to mess with Turks even outside of the battlefield. Nodding to himself as he saved that mental note, he smiled as he felt safe once more.
Although his smile didn’t last for long. Curse his small hope of having his questionnaire safe after all of that commotion. He gave a big shrug. What could he fix something like that? He would probably have to ask again for more of those papers. “I see… Mr…. um Lyko. I should have expected as much.” what he didn’t expect, though, was how the man acted even after his failure had been so clear. Was he being kind because he pitied the situation? Or maybe he thought he didn’t really have anything of value to provide? It could’ve been true, yet his research concerning materia helped him start creating bits and pieces of items that could end up being very useful.
But, he was also just being nice. He didn’t like bullying, that was a plus on the cyborg’s book. He could be identified as a possible ally around the facility. “Yes, they are just a questionnaire I was assigned to uphold.” he giggled softly and nodded twice to his words. “I guess you could say that, Mr. Lyko… But, in base of this questionnaire we may be able to develop much stronger things! Feedback is always important!” he affirmed while raising a finger, as if he was sharing a piece of wisdom never heard of before. Soon enough, he shook his head.
“Unfortunately, I could not spot his name before he started… acting erratically. After that, everything was quite difficult to understand…” or rather to scan and register. If only he could’ve been a bit more perceptive, maybe he could’ve given the man a bit of information. But, his thoughts had gone blank after he prompted that unwanted reaction of the man. He didn’t want to imagine how high things could’ve escalated. Maybe he would bring up other coworkers that weren’t really happy to have such a small boy around and, then what? Right, he didn’t want to imagine it, so he would stop those thoughts right there. “Huh?”
Chadley crossed his arms on his back at the proposal the other had just given him, his eyes sparking along with his monocle as he raised his head to the executive before him. “Would you really be up for it? It would most definitely aid me greatly! But,…” although he was clearly excited and all up for the idea, he pondered a bit on what it all meant.
“How could I repay this, then?… Oh!” his demeanor soon turned into a much more antsy one as he stepped closer to the man and whispered, as if he were about to suggest something mischievous. “Mr. Lyko, would you be interested in… materia or derivatives of it?”
“I’m sorry they couldn’t be saved, kid…” Lyko goes looking a bit guilty about the papers. Half of him wanted to just go sprinting to the nearest printer to help him get a new copy but he refrained. The intern wasn’t completely useless after all. He just felt it was an unfair set of circumstances this kid had to go through and Lyko felt almost obligated to help. “Yeah you’re right, feedback is always important.” Lyko said with an almost endearing kind of smile. The kid was odd, but strangely positive and adorable. “I was just thinking of all the things to be mad about the Science Department for… a goddamn questionnaire is not one of them.” He’d shake his head to show how disappointed he was in his fellow employee picking on some intern for no good reason. “That’s alright kid, I’ll try to figure it out. I mean the floor we’re on, what he looks like, and the fact he claims to be high up the food chain will help me narrow it down a bit.” Lyko was going to spend way too much time on figuring out who this man was in the near future, that was for sure. “But uh… speaking of names...yours escapes me. I know I’ve seen you around before but I’m so sorry I can’t remember your name?” Lyko nods at his eagerness. “Yeah really, I mean unless it’s gonna take like an hour or something… I still have to get this report done before I leave.” He holds up the folder he’s carrying. “But I’d be up for helping however I can.” a little nod. “And hey, hey you don’t have to repay me. I’m… pretty set on Materia?”

She really wasn’t surprised when he revealed to her that he was new and she confirmed her own theory with a small smirk to herself. “I figured as much. No one ever wants to deal with the Science Department so naturally the new people always end up being thrown to us. For the simpler tasks at least.” Right, she should have known, he was a Turk and wasn’t about to spill any secrets to anyone. She could never be to careful however, a small reminder never hurt anyone. Hopefully he hadn’t taken too much offense.
The train spun through the tunnels heading down towards the station near Sector 7 where the entrance wouldn’t be too far from. She laughs to herself when he mentions what his other option had been. “Well I do like to think that I’m more interesting than patrolling Sector 8. If you don’t want boring then I suppose you made the right choice.” The ride wouldn’t be too long but there was still time to kill while waiting. While she couldn’t discuss the mission in so public a space she thought of something else to kill the time with. Something useful to her.
“So, tell me more about yourself.” She suggests. “What made you want to be a Turk and work for ShinRa in the first place? I know the pay is good and all…but it’s an awfully big role. What inspired you?” She asks while leaning forward in her seat and resting her chin in the palm of her hand. The more she knew about someone, the more control she felt she had. Knowledge was power after all and she always liked to know who she was sharing her time with.
“Are you familiar with the Science Department at all? It can have quite a reputation but I wouldn’t believe every rumor that floats around out there.” A pause. “God knows what they say about me, but hey. Let them believe what they want to believe, right?” There was no better trump card to have than that. “In reality, we won’t bother you as long as you don’t bother us.” She says with a smile. “Well, not you directly…but you know what I mean.” She quickly adds.
It was true to an extent that Hojo didn’t much care for anyone in the company as long as they didn’t mess with him or his work. If people didn’t get in the way they were pretty much safe. When it came to her, she only went after the people who proved to be a threat to the Professor. “So, if anyone tried to scare you about taking the job? Don’t worry about it. If you want my opinion? The rest are just cowards.”

Isrieal wasn’t wrong--no one ever really wanted to deal with the Science and Research Division. Lyko had his own reserves about most departments over all, but anything that Hojo ran Lyko didn’t want to touch with a ten foot pole. “You’re not wrong.” Lyko said with a smile. “But I honestly don’t mind handling tasks like this.” He stated and that was mostly true, he didn’t exactly mind this, but yeah if he could kick a S&RD task to someone else he probably would. “Oh you’re miles more interesting.” he’d say with a humoured laugh. Despite engaging in conversation with her, his focus would be on the car around him. Just making sure anyone walking in wasn’t suspicious. He honestly felt like he was really doing a job for the first time as he looked around cautiously. He kept the looks casual and tried not to look too suspicious himself. She caught his full attention when she asked him more personal questions about himself, watching her lean and look up at him cutely. He raised an eyebrow about the amount of information she was trying to get out of him and decided to only answer partially. “I’m new to the Turks, but I’m not new to Shinra. I’ve been here… six?” a pause as he counted. “Yeah, almost six years now. Five of those I spent in Customer Service. I joined Shinra because my parents both worked for it. I joined the Turks because I needed the money.” None of that was a lie perse but it was most certainly not the whole truth. “Yeah I’m familiar with the Science Department, my mother was one of the main researchers about a decade back? She didn’t tell me much about exactly what was going on in there, but yeah I got a good grasp about the working environment.” he’d give a little laugh and look away from her when she started talking about rumours. That was more to buy him time to respond appropriately, even though he played it off like he was doing another sweep of the car. “That’s a good response to have to those rumours, though the less you address them the wilder they seem to spin.” And Lyko felt like that was probably what happened here--she fed just a little too much into the madness. “Yeah I’ve noticed Science and Research keeps to itself, it’s pretty self contained. I think it’s just the air of mystery that everyone likes to speculate on if you ask me.” “And here I was worried this entire train ride would be us in awkward silence.” he tacked on with a laugh when she asked him another round of questions. “No one tried to scare me about the mission.” He’d continue with a humoured smile. “Sorry to disappoint.” His eyes flickered to the map showing how close they were to their destination. “We can start moving up cars if you want? Probably best we blend in the crowd when we disembark.”

In the beginning Lyko is gonna find Chadley just another weird intern from Science and Research but the more he encounters the sweet boy, the more Chadley is going to grow on him. I can see Lyko becoming this big protective figure in Chadley’s life, be it just a coworker standing up for him or almost like Chadley is his little brother. It’s like Lyko just has a soft spot for this odd kid! He wants to teach him so he’s more worldly and less people take advantage of him!
#::out of the loop;#::think outside the box;#cinderella-gurei#thanks for sending this lovely!#i can't wait to develop their relationships further!
