There is a quartet playing a waltz. IDK enough about waltz music to pick an appropriate song, use your imagination. EMILY | You know...this is how we met. FRECERICK | I remember. It was New Year's Eve, your brother's wedding. EMILY | Mhm. We danced in the greenhouse... FREDERICK | That's right. You were hiding because you hate crowds. EMILY | I was not! And anyway, you were sneaking out— FREDERICK | Was I? [laughs] Saints alive, I was such a shit back then. EMILY | [laughs] I think everyone would agree that you're much improved. FREDERICK | All thanks to you, darling. Vivi watches Freddy and Emily being cute and has sad girl hours.

ARNAUT | Tomorrow should be uneventful. Just the soccer match, limited press. JULIÁN | Oh, is that all? I'd hoped for a little more? LORRAINE | You were briefed on this, Julián. The time to object was weeks ago. JULIÁN | I would have, but— hey, is that who I think it is? ARNAUT | [sighs] Here she comes. LORRAINE | [whispering] Behave yourself. JULIÁN | [whispering] You worry too much, Auntie! VIVI | Julián, would you dance the next dance with me? JULIÁN | I'd be honored, Your Highness. LORRAINE | [whispering] I thought you were going to speak with him. ARNAUT | [whispering] I did. But when has he ever listened?

JULIÁN | I hope you're enjoying yourself tonight, Your Highness. VIVI | I am. Your entire family has been very welcoming. JULIÁN | I'm glad. It breaks my heart to see a beautiful woman looking so sad. VIVI | Why are you doing this? JULIÁN | Doing what? VIVI | Flirting with me. You know I'm married...nothing can come of this. JULIÁN | Does it have to come to something? JULIÁN | [whispering] What's wrong with just enjoying ourselves, here and now? VIVI | [full-bodied horny shiver] VIVI | [whispering] My husband... JULIÁN | I won't tell him if you don't. VIVI | Anyway...I suppose I should thank you. JULIÁN | Oh? What for? VIVI | It's silly! It's just...oh, I don't know. VIVI | ...I guess I'm just to used to being looked at that I forgot how good it feels to be seen.

Nakawe Palace was both larger and grander than Blackwell Palace, all gilt trim and veined marble. Uspanians went rather more for ornamentation than the Armoricans, who still regarded damask wallpaper as the very height of sophistication and who had long preferred to showcase their wealth by pretending that it didn't exist.

FREDERICK | I am going to pass out. EMILY | You're not going to pass out. Just relax. FREDERICK | How am I supposed to relax? I've got so much riding on this— EMILY | Frederick. You need to chill out. It's a lunch, not a battle. FREDERICK | Okay, it's not a battle. But you gotta admit, it is a minefield... ANDRE | ...y'know, you're the only thing that makes these things tolerable. LEONOR | Poor Andre...how would you ever make it through lunch without me. ANDRE | I wouldn't. I'd waste away. LEONOR | Then I suppose we're both lucky I'm here. [indistinct conversation] VIVI | [sighs] JULIÁN | Excuse me...is this seat taken? VIVI | ...there are name cards by every plate. JULIÁN | Well, then I suppose I'll have to rearrange them, won't I? JULIÁN | Anyway...how are you, Your Highness? VIVI | I'm sorry...have we been introduced? JULIÁN | I've forgotten my manners! Julián Reyes, at your service. ARNAUT | [offscreen] Julián. ARNAUT | [shakes head] JULIÁN | [does his very best "who, me?" routine] ARNAUT | [clears throat] Excuse me! On behalf of Mother Beatriz, I would like to invite our Armorican friends to find their seats so we can share this meal. [indistinct chatter] ANDRE | This is nice! I'm surprised everything is going so well... LEONOR | Were you expecting us to be poor hosts? ANDRE | No, I was expecting at least one of my children to act out. LEONOR | You don't need to worry about them, Andre. They do you credit. INVISIBLE FOOTMAN | Announcing...Her Majesty Queen Beatriz of Uspana! ANDRE | ...she seems to have her sights directly on me. LEONOR | Oh, Mother Beatriz is very eager to speak with you. Didn't I warn you? ANDRE | You did not. LEONOR | [amused] No? Oh dear. ANDRE | You are a cruel woman. LEONOR | Strange, you've never complained before... LEONOR | [whispers] Good luck. ANDRE | [in halting Uspanian] Good afternoon, Your Majesty— BEATRIZ | Please, let's continue in a language we both speak fluently. ANDRE | I have to apologize. I practice, but I've always struggled with languages. BEATRIZ | You tried. I can't fault you for making an effort. BEATRIZ | Anyway...it's really too bad that your wife couldn't join us. I was looking forward to finally meeting her. Pity. ANDRE | Elise keeps a very full diary. She does important work and I would never dream of asking her to set it aside— BEATRIZ | Interesting. We'll discuss this later. ANDRE | What— ANDRE | Where are you— BEATRIZ | I have to circulate. ANDRE | ...why does this always happen to me?

Are any of your royals considered fashion or style icons?

no, no one is considered a fashion or style icon at the moment and i currently don't have any planned. i suppose there is the general people wanting to buy clothes royals have worn that exist in real life, but other than that no. and honestly im not very knowledgeable about fashion so im a bit worried that if i make on itl just look weird and forced.

at the boys house, Thursday night

[Mathias] Are you still working?

[August] I thought you were sleeping?

[Mathias] I was, and you should be sleeping too.

[August] I need to finish this assignment first. its due tomorrow at midnight and i both have a full day of uni then and the ballet in the evening. And i know for a fact that the ballet will last past midnight.

[Mathias] You will run yourself ragged if you keep this up. But the ballet starts at five, it cannot possibly last until after midnight.

[August] Its not the ballet itself that lasts so long, its the 'Society Banquet' that follows it. it is unheard of to leave that before midnight and you wont leave until two at the earliest if you don't want to seem rude to the hostess, I've heard that sometimes they last until midday the next day.

[Mathias] whats so bad about being rude one time?

[August] my reputation will be ruined. Seeing as this is my first time at such an event, and its the second most important of the season.

[Mathias] I can see how that is less than ideal, you ruining your reputation helps no one. well i at least will try to get some sleep.

[August] you are not moving to your bed?

[Mathias] Too much work, night.

[August] Good night, sleep well.

What kinds of wild rumors/conspiracy theories exist about your royal family? Do they have any basis in truth?

oh, there is one that states they are descendant of a supernatural creature, this one stems from the fact that one of the queen consorts in the 17th century was chronically ill and mostly bedridden and was therefore rarely seen. people differ on opinion as to which supernatural creature she was supposed to have been.

another one is that the current queens aunt ran away with a secret lover rather than becoming queen. this comes from the fact that said princess dressed and lived rather frugally. so people took that to mean she saved up a secret stash of money somewhere. anyway she then suddenly died of an illness at the same time as her father the king laid dying. since she died so fast there was never announced to the public she was ill before the death announcement. people were shocked and some put the facts together and figured it must be a cover up and decided the only way she would give up the throne was if she fell in love with someone unsuitable. there are also those that believe she did die but that there is a secret stash of treasure somewhere that has laid undisturbed since her death.

Reprieve at Ariadne's Cottage

Princess Annabelle stays over at her aunt Princess Ariadne's home. With Princess Ariadne's husband Kai and their children Alice and Ash. The remote cottage was a welcome reprieve from the sadness engulfing her own home, for Princess Annabelle. Most of all she enjoys her cousins Alice company as they are the same age.

Andre had broken his promise, but Elise had kept hers. They had been married thirty years, he knew that tone. She was serious. If he didn't end things with Leonor, Elise was going to leave him. The clock had run out; he couldn't put it off any longer. It was time to decide.

It is not the kind of thing I want out there. If the children see— ANDRE | Our children are grown! They're starting families of their own! They can handle the knowledge that their parents sleep in separate bedrooms. ELISE | Do you think they could handle knowing why, Andre? Do you think they'd be happy to know that you've been keeping a mistress? ANDRE | Not this again... ELISE | [heatedly] Not this again? ELISE | We don't have to keep having this conversation. You could break things off with that woman, and then we never have to discuss her, ever again. ANDRE | [sighs] Lees, please... ANDRE | I made Leonor a promise— ELISE | And what about the promises you made me, on our wedding day? To love, honor, and cherish? To forsake all others? Prince Augusts visits hospital for the blind

Prince August did his first official engagement earlier this morning. He visited St.Lucia's hospital for the blind. a newly opened hospital which focuses on caring for the blind both when they are sick and hurt and more generally for their mental well being.

Prince August was met at the entrance by the owner and matron of the hospital, Ms Sophie Burteax. Sophie became invested in the well being of the blind after her own mother became blind 10 years ago.

Prince August was first shown the sick ward, where the hospital treats the ill. here he is shown speaking to a Mr Sam Springs who became blind slowly over time and is now in the hospital getting treated for meningitis.

The prince was then shown one of the speaking rooms, where blind people can get therapy sessions or just have someone to talk to. There the Prince had a chat with Doctor David Weir, a doctor who works at the hospital, and Mr Eric Flint, who went blind just last year after a car accident.

Lastly the Prince was shown the children's hall, a room which is purposed towards children having fun, both children in the hospital and healthy blind children. here the prince is sown playing dolls with Miss Margot Blair, who was born blind. Margot would later comment that her favourite part of the prince's visit was the funny voices he would give to the dolls.

ooh I thats fun, with my sims i think August and Ella could be a fun ship to explore, that wont happen in canon. because i think they could have fallen in love with each other if it wasnt for the fact all the adults around them wanted them to.

Dagda's Cauldron (conversion)

We're supposed to get hit by a heatwave tomorrow, so I'm trying to quickly wrap up some old WIPs before yet another forced TS4 break. This beauty comes from Sketchfab, where it was posted by a user named Dragonjojo - you can preview the original in here! I lowered the polycount and converted it to TS4.

found under sculptures (or by typing 'VS' in the search bar)

only one swatch, sorry! I just couldn't think what could possibly look better than this (also, it uses a very high res texture, so new swatches would probably totally bloat the package)

polycount, despite intense decimating, still quite high: ca. 10K

can be viewed/admired, just like any other sculpture

No idea how big the Gunderstrup cauldron is, but this one reaches more or less to sims' waist:

(As you can see, proper lighting makes all the details pop!) (Also, that was still a beta version. The final one does cast a shadow, like a good cauldron should ;) )

soft hiatus

Hello, everyone!

Remember the "summer cold" I was posting about? It turned out to be an extremely rare autoimmune conditioned triggered by an unrelated infection. Late last week, I was admitted to the hospital with sepsis and kept overnight for several days. I was discharged yesterday.

I am still under pretty intense medical care and not at 100%. My ability to run the blog is thus going to be limited for the foreseeable future.

I have MFW story updates queued through the end of the month, but I am not sure when I will be able to begin working on new posts.

My capacity for social interaction is also quite low right now—I have disabled my askbox because I know I won't be able to keep up with it. I will read and appreciate any comments on posts and reply as I am able, but I can't promise a response right now!

Right now, my focus is on recovering. I will try to keep up with the bare-minimum stuff to maintain the blog (adding links, tzr's of story posts) but please be patient with me and my reduced capacity right now!
