Since everyone seems to be sending you character analysis, let me talk about Jax for a second: Jax is. An incel COD player. It's very funny to me when people interpret his propensity for violence as an indicator that he was violent in his real life. His approach to violence in the circus is deeply immature, he just treats it as a game with no stakes (because it is). Jax is dealing with the circus, in part, by recognising that its an opportunity to play extremely immersive and customisable video games. Furthermore, he uses violence and violent acts as a way to deliberately be as offensive and perverse as possible which is. Such 4chan user COD player behaviour. In fact his whole personality is based on being offensive and upsetting people because he thinks its funny, and when he lets that mask down theres hints of him being someone who is deeply vulnerable and emotionally immature. You can tell from all this exactly what sort of person he was in real life, and it was NOT a violent badass. Jax's persona in the circus is literally just his internet persona - how he acts when hes on the internet trolling people and triggering snowflake liberals. Thanks for coming to my TED talk

I'm kinda sad I didn't see it sooner. His smirk is the one I picture behind any troll post. Especially with him watching enough anime to have an opinion on slice of life. Yet still call people who watch anime losers.

Re character flaws: I think Zooble is pretty un-flawed as a character, but I don't think that's a bad thing. There's a misconception that all characters have to have flaws to be well-written characters, but actually whether they need distinct flaws depends heavily on the type of story. This will sound insane to outsiders considering how the character designs and visuals look, but tadc is actually quite a realistic show. In real life, some people are just cool, like Zooble. I also think, in a story like tadc, full of emotionally unstable, deeply complex and flawed individuals trying to coexist in a high-stress situation, it's a narrative necessity to have one character who is on a more even keel and acts as a source of support and stability to the others (ie what ragatha is trying so hard to be but failing at due to her own issues).

I also think Zooble was written in reverse, if that makes sense - most characters in the show are written to seem ok at first, but the more you see of them the more you realise how fucked up and complicated they are. Whereas Zooble is introduced as an abrasive, dismissive person, but the more you see of them, the more it becomes apparent that they are kind, straightforward and reliable.

Written in reverse... I've never thought about that as a practice. Also the story determining the flaws of the characters is something I haven't considered. I always thought a good character should be made to be dropped in any story and be believable. But it makes sense with Zooble. If everyone was the same level of flawed it would be too much for the show.

Pomni is a person who does not trust others easily. It took until after she was at Kaufmo's funeral for her to realize the people around her would care about her etc if anything happened to her.

She is also a coward but it seems like she is more willing to be brave if she feels a connection to the person. (Abandoning Ragatha twice when she barely really knew her and was in a very scary/stressful situation vs her pulling Kinger away from the angel when he was hypnotized by the eyes)

That man was made to be a Tumblr sexy man. He fits the role so easily. I don't think people try to make a Tumblr sexy man on purpose. Which is the beauty of the role.

Yooooo what are Zooble's and Pomni's character flaws ? I just realized I have no clue but I'm also oblivious so. Cause I'm realizing I can't point out anything that would make someone not like them. Zooble is cool with a problem that doesn't really affect other people just them. And Pomni is just chill overall...Personality wise.

Ok this is just a guess. What if the next episode uses that mind reading trope. Like it keeps being brought up that Caine can kinda influence their minds. So what if he makes it so everyone can read minds. Like think about it.. Ragatha having no filter while not being intoxicated. She reveals her true self to others without having to say a word. Jax also wouldn't be able to say she's faking. While Pomni can get honest reactions from Ragatha. Because Pomni and Ragatha never really interacted after she was high in episode 4. But everyone else got to and get honest opinions from Ragatha. Also it would be an amazing way to learn more about Kinger.

Ok ..... This clicks so well it hurts. Though I'm not autistic ( just got that ADHD baby ). Most of my friends are, and they talk about these issues a lot. To make it even better all of them are women !! Being misunderstood when it comes to socializing or people assuming ulterior motives happen so often. It's fucking insane!! They can never win. If they keep to themselves people still try to start something. If they socialize people take anything not sugar coated as a threat. Ugh I'm mad just thinking about it.

I cannot stop thinking about Episode 5 of TADC because Ragatha is, however unintentionally, one of the best examples of how isolating and difficult it is to interact with the world as an autistic person I have ever seen. To the point it genuinely makes me sad to think about her. I need to make a post expanding on this at some point but rn just. The way everyone assumes there’s some sinister hidden meaning to everything she does and says but she’s literally just trying to be nice and she doesn’t understand why it’s not working. The way she tries so hard to make connections but it constantly falls flat, she says things that hurt without realising how or why. She follows the rules she’s been taught will make her friends — she’s kind, she’s forgiving, she’s accepting and apologetic when she messes up, but for some reason it’s just not working. She tries to mimic other people, she tries to laugh at past experiences, tries to open up about her past like everyone else is doing, but now everyone’s uncomfortable and looking at her like she’s crazy and she doesn’t get it!! She doesn’t get it!!! Jax is a jerk and he’s mean to everyone but for some reason Pomni likes him and she doesn’t get it, she doesn’t understand! Pomni tells her it’s okay to be a jerk sometimes but Ragatha doesn’t like being mean, she wants to be nice to people, but she does it anyway, she gets mean like Jax and Zooble do but now Pomni’s looking at her like she’s done something wrong but she just did what she asked her to!! She doesn’t get it!! At the end of the episode everyone goes off into their groups and Ragatha is left alone, after having tried so hard to make friends and fit in and make people like her, she’s still alone, and everyone thinks she’s weird and unapproachable and she just has to give up and accept that she is inherently unloveable. Her evil alter ego tells her she’s going to die alone and nobody loves her and the only thing she corrects her on is the fact that they can’t die here. The few that might like her when she’s around don’t miss her when she’s gone, because there’s nothing to miss. Ragatha has spent her whole life systematically stripping away everything that makes her different and unlikeable in order to make herself more palatable to others, and in the process she has made herself a personalitiless blank slate with no unique identity for others to latch onto and appreciate. She has nothing to add to any conversation because she’s too afraid of being disliked to have a memorable personality beyond being generally polite and nice. And just. God. Someone get this girl some noise cancelling headphones and a therapist on speed dial, being this good of a representation of what it’s like to be autistic, especially to be an autistic person with trauma, is not good for the soul. That final shot just destroys me right in the heart. My poor girl.

Horses are great for therapy mental and physical. I wonder if Ragatha was actually working through her issues before. However the circus literally took away her emotional support animals. She's been away from her horses for years.
